As discussed on the "old" board, we were going to have a section on our favourite non league teams.

So, to start with, Bury Town will be in the Ryman League Premier Division next season........  the delights of Canvey Island and Maidstone among others await.

Shame about BPA really, would be good to see that name rising up through the lower leagues.

Well done to Boston though  Smiley

They were in deep debt after getting relegated from League 2 a few years ago, I am sure the reason they dropped was they were relegated a few divsions for the massive debt rather than todays points deductions.

I work with someone who originally came from Boston but now lives in Market Harborough and works in Northampton. He travels to Boston to watch most home games even when they were in their lowest position. I would rather talk to him about the Pilgrims than to the so called Premier League team fans most of whom have never visited the towns they support much less the football grounds and only watch games on MOTD or Sky.... Bizarre - my mate's parents come from Boston so he is always checking Bostons result.

He is convinced they will get promoted again this coming season.

The New Saints - Wales.

Obviously i don't go to the games, just look out for the scores and sometimes catch the highlights.

Stems from years ago when me and my mate randomly picked teams to follow results of, sadly for him he chose Newi Cefn Druids(think they may have changed their name), great name though.

We used to do that years ago, down the main stand and turn right if I recall correctly?  Cool
I would have thought that they would have had a by pass by now?  Huh?

Used to work in Cefn Mawr where Cefn Druids currently play though they are looking to get a new ground.
NEWI is the college in Wrexham, next to Wrexham's ground, where the away fans used to park up. Full name for NEWI is North East Wales Institute of Higher Education. Now that would have been a mouthful if they had used their full name  Smiley

They actually have a Cobblers connection as were managed by (the great) Dixie McNeil back in 2006/7.

Their new name is Elements Cefn Druids .......... and they have just been relegated to the Cymru Alliance

I remember stopping in that cafe in Spalding on way to Skeggy before they built the Spalding bypass, and knocked down cafe which was over the road from Spalding's ground. My wife is from Spalding so maybe I should chose Spalding Town (do they still exsist Huh?)

Sadley getting to Skegness has got easier leading up to Boston with various bypasses having being built but when I feel all sentimental I take the back roads.

In the old days we would always stop at a cafe at a Jet Petrol Station by the railway line as you came out the back of Stamford.

The twenty or so miles from Boston to Skegness you see & smell nothing but fields of Cabbages as you try to work out where the sea & the sky meet on the horizon.

Obviously with farmers a plenty they do like to block the road with there tractors doing 5mph if your lucky as you become the 96th car behind him looking, hoping, waiting for anovertaking moment Wink

You don't want to get ill or die in Skegness as the ambulances have to turn out from Boston where you'll end up in the Pilgrim Hospital & you can't be buried in Skeggy as the sea is a coming in fast.

My Auntie owns a mansion near the sea & in the last year or two the beach close to the back of her garden is fast being clawed closer to the sea which is somewhat worrying.

Would that be the one near Tallington, I seem to recall stopping at a cafe there and hoping that a train comes by stopping the traffic.

Everytime I go to Spalding to see the 'in laws' I get caught by that level crossing at Tallington. Once the barriers came down and after the train had passed the barriers lifted and let 1 car through before coming down again for another train. If the train was that close why didn't they just keep the level crossing closed?

Seemed like great fun when you was a kid - not so fund when you are held up by them though.
I feel a trip to Skeggy coming on

The reason you cant be buried in Skeg cos both the graveyards are full, Winthorpe still accepts burials and is slightly closer to the sea than St. Clements...
