Yes they have. They had about 12 or 13 years where they led a nomadic existence, ground sharing at various places after losing their Watling Street Ground (used to ground share with Maidstone Utd., who went bust and left The Darts saddled with a huge debt). But here is an example of a forward-thinking council (CON) who saw the need to help get the team back into the borough. DC could do a lot worse than ask the leader of the new N'pton council to give Jeremy Kite, leader of Dartford Borough Council, a call who I'm sure will explain the benefits of having a thriving local football club in the town.

It has to be "B" @RunRunPass Another big smile on my face. I always get the big decisions right.
Couldn't be happier, you can all blame me if it turns pear shaped. Up next year without a doubt and no need of the play-offs.

Boston United suffered spot-kick heartbreak as they went out of the promotion play-off on penalties to Guiseley. After a 1-0 win for the Yorkshire side in the first leg the Pilgrims battled to a 3-2 extra time win in the second leg in front of a crowd of 2,640. With the teams locked on aggregate it took a penalty-shootout with a number of misses before Guiseley prevailed winning 3-2 after 5 pens each. So another season in the Conference North for Boston who must have been wishing for promotion and the chance to renew rivalries with Lincoln City and Grimsby Town.

I see Crawley have signed Akinde from Bristol City and Day from Rushden. Still freely spending there then!

Yeah, I've seen him a few times and thought he was **** player for this level. I'd be suprised if we were not in for him at some point.

Very very unimpressive signings for Crawley ... thought they were gonna buy class players in the style of Notts County. If David Hunt and Akinde are the level of signings, I am not too worried at all

I hate having to explain myself.
Don't ask me why.

Akinde is still a young unknown though. He might pay off! Most important fact in all this was that apparently outbid Gillingham, Wycombe and D&R for him. Sounds like the cash is getting thrown around like toilet paper.

Only a matter time before they start finding the bodies at Crawley. Wouldn't be surprised to see them out of the league and hit by multiple sanctions within two years. The parallels between Crawley and Boston are alarming!

I think of Crawley as an unattractive version of Stevenage. I don't find Stevenage attractive, to be clear.

I don't mind Crawley, it's hardly a hotbed of football down in West Sussex so the locals could do with something to do on a Saturday afternoon.
As for the money aspect, well would we have turned their investors down?

Well mine is Dartford FC (my home town), currently on the long haul back from near oblivion and just having finished their first season in the Blue Square South with a respectable mid-table finish. Next stop Conference hopefully. Booooooo!

Newport Pagnell Town drew with a fairly strong MK Dons side yesterday 2-2 before losing 5-4 on penalties. Dear Moderators, not sure if you wish to lock this thread now & we can start this over again for the new season
