Monkeys offer to help the club out with their marketing issues has got me thinking that maybe there are talented fans out there who can volunteer to help the club out?
I know a lot of this goes on already and largely unpublicised but maybe there should be an official group know as Cobblers Volunteers or something?
Speaking to Cobblers fans there are some people in useful trades and all sorts of weird and wonderful professions. People could help with marketing, upkeep of the stadium, donkey work like clearing the pitch if nessesary, I.T help, I know Tyro is involved with waste disposal so we would probably ditch a few players.
I feel like the club is sometimes a bit them and us and that could be improved somewhat. If you have any talents that club could utilise off the pitch then feel free to mention it

Good idea. Maybe I could paint a big mural in the bar or somewhere. I'm sure it would be cherished by the club.

I'm not prepared to volunteer... i wanted a fee Will the volunteers all offer their services to other volunteers too like the Masons? I'll join the "Cobblers Volunteers" as long as we can have a secret handshake and initiation ceremonies for new members.

Last year NTFC SL was asked by the club to request and co-ordinate any volunteers to help with tradesman type activity in particular. While there was no fee attached the club were willing to offer mutually beneficial remuneration for example matchday benefits. As far as I know only 2 or 3 people came forward, who happened to be Trust members. I am aware for example that a years car parking ticket was arranged in return for essential electrical work. The club is always going to need maintenance work so if anyone is still interested I suggest emailing NTFC Sl via our website http://www.ntfctrust.co.uk/ Don't all rush at once! Artlenock you devil it's easy to mock not so easy to do

Funny you mention the thing about the marketing/survey. When the idea was put to them this time last year by myself and an ex-member of this board (both volunteers) they didn't want to know!

Linda why don't you tag this "Cobblers Volunteers" thing onto the Trust Activity. You could collate a list of people with their own area of expertise/trade/job whatever and how they are willing to help the Trust?
You could also collate a list of people that are willing to do donkey work when and where it is needed i.e. cleaning snow from the pitch etc. The club might be able to sort a situation whereby a lot of the non skilled work is done by volunteers and saving it money. You'll find there is a lot of untapped help that could be utilised.

Instead of advertising in the trust website, which has barely 20 visitors a month, actively look for fans who can give up time, you'll find plenty of willing multi skilled and abled bodies streaming towards the ground on matchdays, who can be encouraged to help the club in return for club vouchers that can be exchanged at the club shop and ticket office, for example if you paid the equivalent of the minimum wage in redeemable vouchers, fans can offset the price of their season tickets knowing its helping the club. Get a scheme going and advertise for any number of costly tasks and keep the money in the club.

The club need to realise that people will help, but it seem you have to shove it down their throat. I helped for ages with 50/50 (had to give up due to working Saturday mornings),so I offered to redesign the posters for the prizes ect as I did a loosely related degree. GW was as helpful as he could be, but it dragged out over months as I could never get a definitive answer as to what they wanted on the posters. So it fizzled out and I gave up. I don't want to knock GW or put any one off volunteering but it would be a lot more successful if there was some one at the club/trust dedicated to attracting volunteers and coordinating the work. Totally agree with Sbeds cobbler , very few people look at the trust website. The chronicle would probably be seen by alot more people Maybe the Club/trust could have an open day explaining how people could help the club, and give people a chance to explain how there skills could be of use to the club.

The idea of a list is what was intended but not enough people came forward to make it worthwhile (we could remember names off top of head ) sbeds the request was advertised in several places, the offish website, matchday programmes and ON HERE. Apologies Grove I don't know how that one got missed but it did, would you still be willing to help? The concept of the list is still open so if people are interested please contact either Roger or I.

And can someone fix the volume control on the west stand PA? It seems to be stuck on earsplitting. Unless of course Shoey is about to raise these points with big Dave.

ps I meant to respond to GenDisordas point about something at an open day ... I think it would be a good idea for NTFC SL to have a stand or something the next time the club runs an open day, although not sure when this would be or how best to go about it. The genuine question I have is how could you attract people to said stand in the first place? I really would like someone with Marketing/Promotions experience to join our Trust Board ... any volunteers ...2hrs of your time approx once a month is all that's required. We trialled having a stall outside the ground between the shop and the bar for a season and a bit and to be honest most people that approached us were asking where they could get a matchday programme. We trialled having a table and a presence in the bar every match but realistically I would say less than 1% of the fan base goes in there regularly. We tried having a suggestions box in the ticket office. We have advertised various things, for example the request for volunteers was on the clubs website, on here, on the trust website, in the matchday programme, in the fanzine but with very limited response. Articles etc in the Chron can be very expensive. Part of the issue I think is that on matchday people are focussed on their pints and their football fix and don't have the time or inclination to be distracted from that. On non matchdays such as open forums etc people are generally not inclined to head out of their way to Sixfields. But .. we must be missing a trick somewhere ... hence the genuine request for some marketing expertise!
