The club's track record of annoying people who offer free help is littered with a lot of supporters who say "Never again". If there's a new attitude then fair enough, but I'd say proceed with caution! Be aware that I'm not suggesting you say "No" - just think it through!

How hard did the club try DL? There are hundreds of of folk like Chriscobbler who would be happy to assist the club, it just needs a little better co ordination and face to face approach to encourage willing participants to get on board.

Grin

We trialled having a stall outside the ground between the shop and the bar for a season and a bit and to be honest most people that approached us were asking where they could get a matchday programme.

Part of the issue I think is that on matchday people are focussed on their pints and their football fix and don't have the time or inclination to be distracted from that.  On non matchdays such as open forums etc people are generally not inclined to head out of their way to Sixfields.

Why not give the people at the Trust stall a load of programmes to sell? Then spark up a convo about the trust etc?

I'm a member (I think?!) but I'm not 100% sure what the benefits are of being a member - it's more of a token donation more than anything else.

Totally agree with the second part - general sense of apathy about everything, amongst the Northampton folk for some reason...

Too true bedscobb. Couldn’t someone in the web chat ask DC to get someone at the Club to be the official volunteer coordinator and someone at the trust be nominated to coordinate the volunteers. That create a chain of command and also at least 3 poeple who would know what is going on... The volunteer, the trust coordinator and the Coordinator at the club. Just on my area of expertise I know how much us IT guys charge and even if i just advised on problems for free it would save the club money.

What is really needed is more help for the Trust , Linda has just taken on the running of the Travel ,with a couple of other board members, and this takes up a lot of time. At the moment the Trust are still dealing with the bar upgrade ,the race night ,the U12 mascot competition and a new newsletter so any help will be greatly appreciated !

I think it would be Avril the facilities manager who would be the contact at the club.

I agree with Roger's comments that a lot of the spare time Trust volunteers have at the moment is being taking up with other things and we could do with more faces.  However, I really would not let that put anyone off sending us an email to volunteer any services you can offer.  You never know when something might be needed and it shouldn't take that much time, as soon as we have some. to pull something simple together.

Thank you Cobblers73 and CobblersChris for your posts, PMs sent and Grove, I have your number  Wink

OK folks ,I've volunteered to be the Trust Co-ordinator for volunteer helpers. I've been in touch with the facilities manager at NTFC and ,at the moment , the club would welcome volunteers to work on the car parks on match days. They are happy to give the volunteers a match ticket as a reward for this  but the facilities manager said " I would need them to stay in position until just after 3pm"
This could suit any non season ticket holders who would like to go to the match but are a bit short of cash. If this interests you or you have any other skills that might be useful please pm me.

Would it be a good idea to have a meeting for "Cobblers volunteers" and brainstorm how people can help the club. You could advertise it on the official site and hold it at Sixfields?

It would be if we get a few more volunteers , would be a good idea to ask for volunteers on the offical site and maybe in the Chron.

I'm currently at uni with aims to be a writer. Any writing that needs doing I'd be happy to do or look at and give opinion or proof read etc. Would be great to whack on my CV, haven't done any volunteering yet.
