Title: Claret Shoemakers IFC - The Cobblers Fans Team
Post by: FezNTFC on July 16, 2015, 22:23:34 pm
The Cobblers Fans Team (The Shoemakers) is on the lookout for some new players if anyone is interested.

A few times last year we had to cancel games with other clubs' teams due to lack of numbers, so if anyone fancies a kick about on Saturday mornings and meeting some new Cobblers fans then you would be more than welcome.

It's more of a social thing than a deadly serious league, but we do like to win the games if we can :P

Doesn't matter about how good or bad you are or even if you just want to get your fitness up - you would be welcome.

We usually play games at either Bugbrooke or the Racecourse, and if there's not a game on we try and fit in some training either at Goals in Mereway or at the park in Upton near Sixfields.

We also try and play away games to coincide with where the real NTFC lads are playing that afternoon - so it makes a day out it if nothing else!

Let me know on here if you're interested, or feel free to PM me if you want to have a chat over the phone or anything.

 :) :)

That's my CV sent.

With a goalscoring record like that I'm sure we could move you from striker to left midfielder :P

I would be interested in an owner role.

I have played alongside Luke Chambers at youth level (eight years old lol). Felt i taught him alot, thank god he forgot it all.

Wouldnt mind doing some training, only played 5 a sidr recently.

Drop Fez your details if you're up for it Hallam. No worries that you've only played 5 aside recently.

We do already have a mystery individual looking to buy us out for £2.65m. All we know is that he is local, has 12 years experience of running a football club and is looking for a new challenge.

Anyway, we are ideally looking for players who can regularly commit to Saturday mornings, including home games, away games and training. Typically if we have enough players, we would play 15-20 games a season (50% home), an end of season sixfields game, and 20 odd training sessions.
Also there is a social element to it. We have a good laugh and where as we aren't great, we enjoy being competitive but in usually friendly and we'll tempered games against other like minded fans. Also we  often have a Christmas night out and/or end of season shindig... and of course we have the away days. Most of us are in our 30s now but there are a couple of whippersnappers like Fez too.

It's useful to have a pool of ringers to make numbers up but game time priority will always be given to regulars.

As a founding member of the Fans Team (im talking pre 2000 when we played in the Worthington Fans Cup) i'd consider coming out of retirement

I played 1 game way back when. Still have the pictures. Think it was against QPR. Andrew Ellis played in the match and a certain David Cardoza was also present. Think I was stuck in at right back. Was fun times

Starting my Uni placement year in a few weeks, not sure how often i'll be available but sounds decent to me. Stick my name down. I'm pretty decent all round, played in goal most of my footballing career so far (I once had a trial for Brackley Town i'll have you all know  ;D)

I'll be free for any away games up north (Pools, Carlisle, York etc), so let me know if you plan to take those on later in the season. I've played everywhere, with various levels of success, so would "just be pleased to be involved" etc etc. - If you do need players for those game I might be able to get an ex Cobbler out of retirement for a kick about with us. - I can't commit to your "home" games, as I never know until a couple of days before whether I can travel.

I would definitely be interested, would need advance notice of dates as live in Milton Keynes and do cover work on some Saturdays.

I am just getting over an ankle ligament injury so am working my way back to as fit as an overweight, slow 33 year old can be, but would be happy to take part in this in some capacity.

I have played pretty much every position, usually somewhere at the back or defensive midfield though.

Longtime supporter but amazingly only just found this forum!   :)

Nice one guys. Drop Fez your contact details and you will recieve more info when we restart our season. First training session is likely to be 25th August and we already have a few games in the diary including Home and Away at Stoke and Shrewsbury in the cup competition.
We will stick these up on our website at the end of August (http://www.clubwebsite.co.uk/northamptonshoemakers/229491/Home)

You can find out more info about us there too such as player info, results, match reports (when I used to be bothered), detailed stats from the last 4 years, and all time player appearances from the beginning of time (please note that this is just current players and anyone who has played more than 10 games before I get any complaints).

Also, you can see info on our facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/shoemakers.ntfc) and if you join the team, you will be invited to our private Facebook group where you will get info on games/training/nonsense.

p.s. We already have a decent sized MK contingent so you won't be alone.

I can remember playing 4/5 games against the Cobblers Fans Team a few years ago when I organised a few games for the Cobblers Independent Supporters Club (CISC) team.

We never quite managed to beat them despite a couple of close games decided by defensive errors and wonder goals (Mazza's 35rd yarder).

We had quite a young team back in the day but I reckon I could gather interest for another game at some point this season if the CFT fancy it?

You used to play for Virgin right Ed? We still play up there on Wednesday. John Gayle Big Head disbanded though and joined with Dean Peers Left Peg.

And yes Poggy. Always up for games. The stewards have a team too, perhaps we can arrange a mini tournament!

This may be a little short notice for some of you (although I believe I've contacted most via PM) but there is a training session at the park in Upton, just off the High Street, at 10:30am tomorrow.

If anyone wants to join us you're more than welcome. it won't be a serious training session (I hope!) as it will be our first one back.

We'll also be training on Saturday August 29 if anyone is available for that.

Would be good to see some new faces :)

Potentially training on 29th April, followed by games on each Saturday in May.

Will then be looking towards the new season.

Training is usually around 10/10.30 on a Saturday morning.
(Occasional midweek evenings in the summer months though)

Games always Saturday morning, again 10/10.30 ish so it fits in with going the Cobblers game that afternoon.

Claret Shoemakers IFC Update: 9th September 2017

We kicked off 2017/18 with a 6-1 loss to Abbey United (Cambridge) last week (not as bad as it sounds... honest).

Today (9th Sep) we play a friendly against a local side; Sixfields Rangers, 10.30ko at Pattishall.

If any Cobblers fans want to know more about us, you'd be more than welcome to pop down!

Thread renamed...  ;)

Cheers for that!  :)

Just a quick update since the last post, with some more fixtures played, and some potential fixtures pencilled in.

16 Sep: We traveled to Watford (en route to Southend away).  Tough encounter which ended in a 8-1 loss, having been 1-1 at half time.
23 Sep: We hosted Coventry and fared much better, drawing 1-1, and could well have nicked it in the dying minutes.

30 Sep: We are potentially playing Rotherham away, if we can get a squad together that is!(if interested, please get in touch)
7 Oct: MK Dons (away)
14 Oct: AFC Wimbledon (home)

A quick update, as it's been a month since the my last post;

7th Oct: narrow 2-1 loss away to MK Dons
14th Oct: a resounding 4-2 victory in a friendly, against local side Sixfields Rangers

Most pleasing is the recent introduction of new players, meaning we regularly have a good squad to pick from, and bodes well for playing more fixtures as the season goes on.

That said, if you want to put on your boots for us (particularly if you travel away) then please do get in contact!

28th Oct: Luton (a)
4th Nov: Coventry (a)
11th Nov: Oxford (a)
18th Nov: Stevenage (h)
25th Nov: Bury B (h)

Travelling to Bradford last week, to play a charity fixture, coming away 3-1 winners.

Then despite the rain 'waterlogging' our booked pitch and a late late venue change, we got a game on against MK Dons, another win, 5-4.

Likely training at Upton this coming Saturday (27th Jan)

A mixed February for the Shoemakers;

03-Feb vs MK Dons (h) 2-0 loss..... albeit just a friendly as already played home and away in the league
10-Feb vs AFC Wimbledon (a) 2-1 win.... terrific result in awfully boggy conditions
24-Feb vs Wolves (h) 3-0 loss..... came up against a good side, failed to take the few chances we had

As always we welcome anyone interested in joining us, particularly fans who go to away games

3-Mar vs Preston (a) before going on to Blackpool
10-Mar < < TRAINING AT UPTON > >
17-Mar vs Rotherham (h) TBC
24-Mar vs Bury (a)

We take on Walsall fans Saturday morning. Currently a threadbare squad of 11 so wouldn't mind an extra player (or two).

Got your ticket to the 3pm game already? Perhaps interested in a game for us beforehand? Please get in touch!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[edit] Here's a Shoemakers update whilst I am here....

17-Mar vs Abbey United IFC (a) 3-3 draw..... on the face of it, a decent result away to Cambridge, but we lost a 3-0 lead. Snowy conditions not ideal as we faded 2nd half.
2-Apr vs Peterborough United (a) 8-2 loss..... sloppy game, highlighted lack of fitness, plus we traveled without many regulars
7-Apr vs Sixfields Rangers (h) 5-1 loss..... first game on our new home pitch (Kislingbury), great facility, punished for a slow opening 20 minutes, matched them for the remainder
21-Apr vs Intrasquad match (h) 2-2 draw..... no opponents available, so 21 of our squad played out a match in roaring sunshine

As always, keen to hear from Cobblers fans who might be getting involved with us, particularly keen to hear from fans who get along to away games!

If you are ever, ever desperate, and I am around, I'll help make up the subs bench next season.

Sadly, I am unavailable this season (and much too old, anyway!)

Top man for getting this sorted!!!!!!

Handy to know, thanks!

Never too old, only requirement to get involved is supporting the TEYN!

I’m up for a game. As long as I don’t have to head the ball, tackle or do any running. I’m thinking a sort of Matt Taylor role?

That's pretty much our entire squad you've described there  ;D

Monday 4th June - 7pm KO
Claret Shoemakers IFC vs Claret Shoemakers IFC

Tomorrow we grace Sixfields (or should that be the PTS Academy Stadium).

Spectators most welcome!  Always an interesting clash with this intrasquad match. Perfect opportunity to see what we are about.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Apr/May Update

28-Apr vs Walsall (a) 1-0 loss..... no idea how we lost this one. A Saturday to forget, for us and the 3pm game.
5-May vs Sixfields Rangers (h)..... ridiculously hot morning, both sides missing a hatful of chances, decent contest.
12-May vs Walsall (h) 6-0 win..... got our revenge, slick and dominating performance, one of the best of our season.
19-May vs Badgers SFC (a) 7-2 loss..... Stevenage away, always a tricky fixture, silly errors from the entire squad cost us.

Well 2018/19 soon came around!  The Claret Shoemakers IFC are back up and running, and ready for another IFA campaign, albeit in League 2!

Like the actual Cobblers side, we look forward to reacquainting ourselves with the likes of Stevenage, Cambridge, Port Vale et al.

For those unfamiliar, we are the NTFC fans team, playing on Saturday mornings, against fellow fans teams ahead of the main teams 3pm game.

After good recruitment last season, we are not actively looking for new players right now... but if you are a Cobblers fan, aged 16+, who goes to away games and may wish to get involved in the future, feel free to get in touch!

 :) Thanks, we certainly will!

Our season kicks off this morning against Abbey United IFC (Cambridge United fans), so a proper IFA double header!

10.30am kick-off at Kislingbury. UP THE COBBLERS!

It seems I've not posted since August... slacking!  Here's an update!
(bona fide fans team opponents in bold)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
18-Aug vs Abbey United IFC (h) 3-1 win... fairly comfortable opener at home to Cambridge
25-Aug vs Trac Athletic FC (h) 2-0 win... another comfortable game, should have scored more!
01-Sep vs Sixfields Rangers (a) 5-0 loss... comprehensively beaten, didn't get going
08-Sep vs MKDSA FC (h) 2-0 win... early goals sealed it, rocky end to the game including conceding a penalty which was saved!
11-Sep vs UoN Staff Team (a) 5-2 win... ran riot, could have scored more
15-Sep vs Portly Vale (a) 5-0 loss... woeful, couldn't string a pass together
13-Oct vs Watford (h) 4-0 loss... somehow kept it 1-0 for 60 minutes, then the ran out deserved winners
20-Oct vs MKDSA FC (a) 1-1 draw... battled from a goal down to draw, the absolute least we deserved
27-Oct vs Raging Fever FC (a) 4-0 win... performance of the season (so far) away to Oxford, 4 goalscorers, all from outside the box
10-Nov vs MKDSA FC (h) 2-1 loss... just a friendly (already played h/a), but not good enough and chances few and far between
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Plenty of games ahead, subject to numbers and of course the weather....

> 8-Dec vs Watford (a)
> 15-Dec vs Badgers SFC (h)
> 22-Dec vs Yeovil SFC (a)
> 12-Jan vs Carlisle (h)
> 19-Jan vs Abbey United IFC (a)
> 26-Jan vs Burton Albion (h)

Some matchday photos too;

Does Van Veen really think he's fooling anyone with that oversized cushion up his shirt?

20 games played for us this season, time for an update!

Without doubt, achievement of the season for us, is making the South East Plate final, after edging out Luton (Hatters Fans FC) 4-1 on penalties, after a 3-3 draw.  Wasn't there myself, but apparently we could have got the job done in normal time.

That game aside, not too much to shout about, but good to get plenty of games in, including some intrasquad matches.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
15-Dec vs Intrasquad, 4-3 <PHOTOS> (https://photos.app.goo.gl/CTym4yESpuQRmTRX7)
12-Jan vs Carlisle London (h) 2-1 loss... decent contest <PHOTOS> (https://photos.app.goo.gl/L9LXdb64XPbXL4nt5)
19-Jan vs Abbey United (a) 9-2 loss... disaster, say no more <PHOTOS> (https://photos.app.goo.gl/tAtAxb6t1Fjup8hb7)
26-Jan vs Burton Albion (h) 6-1 loss... game far closer than the scoreline suggests <PHOTOS> (https://photos.app.goo.gl/U3626pcDB44cLDXB7)
16-Feb vs NTFC Multi-disabled (a) 1-0 loss... enjoyable game against the NTFC side preparing for their own FA Cup fixtures, wasted numerous chances <PHOTOS> (https://photos.app.goo.gl/LWnfv9octFTkJrwF7)
9-Mar vs Intrasquad, 3-2
17-Mar vs Man v Fat Northampton (a) 3-2 loss...
30-Mar vs Portly Vale (h) 2-1 loss... <PHOTOS> (https://photos.app.goo.gl/H4Li9PUg49iUUBuN9)
13-Apr vs Hatters Fans FC (a) 3-3 draw, 4-1 win on penalties, excellent team performance
19-Apr vs Man v Fat Northampton (h) 2-1 win... another game of numerous chances wasted <PHOTOS> (https://photos.app.goo.gl/5asZCvwGafB3c6N59)

2019/20 is around the corner.  We will be recuiting for more players, so please spread the word, more on that in a second.

First a 18/19 round-up
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
17-May vs Royal Mail FC Milton Keynes (a) 6-0 loss... wasn't there
1-Jun vs Beavers FC (Hampton & Richmond Borough fans team) (n) 3-1 loss... held at Heybridge Swifts FC in Essex, wasn't there but told it was a very tight contest, and a decent, competitive game.  This was the South-East Plate final, an achievement to be there!
15-Jun vs Hatters Fans FC (Luton fans) (h) 4-0 loss... they were just fitter and more organised.

To top off the SE-Plate final appearance, we were then awarded IFA Team of the season, voted for by fellow IFA teams.
http://www.internetfootball.org.uk/2019/06/21/shoemakers-claim-team-of-the-year/
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So with 19/20 approaching, we'll soon be training again (usually Upton on Saturday) and we are looking for new players.

Please share with fellow Cobblers fans, feel free to reply on here, DM me, or contact our manager, Rob.... details on the poster

18-0 loss on aggregate  :-X. Yep that's how our 2019-20 has started

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[01] 13-Jul vs Yardley Gobion (a), 8-0 loss... Our first get-together of the season, against a side a month into their pre-season preparations. <PHOTOS> (https://photos.app.goo.gl/ZW3eZELbuSALd9oS8)
[02] 10-Aug vs Portly Vale (a), 10-0 loss... Travelled with 13 players to Burslem, this soon became 11 with injuries. <PHOTOS> (https://photos.app.goo.gl/zFWggSawoxh1kHpB6)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So you can guess my reason for posting, we need more players!

Please share the word, if you know anyone who may be interested in playing football on a Saturday morning with us.

Training is usually at Upton 10 / 10.30am.

We usually arrange 2 games a month; where possible against fans teams of whoever NTFC are playing that day.

This season, like much of 18/19 has been a real struggle getting numbers together.

Minimum age 16, all welcome regardless of ability.

BUMP!

The Cobblers Fans Team are back in action Saturday should anyone want to drop by.

Equally if anyone (or you know of anyone) potentially interested in being involved, feel free to come along and chat to a member of the team.

This season vs. Luton we have won 4-2, won 3-2 & drawn 2-2

Unlike the Cobblers' first team, the fans' team know where the back of the net is at the moment.

A 4-1 win this morning.

As always though, anyone who fancies a game is more than welcome to PM either myself or Corno.
