What possible benefit is there to enforcing this rule? It's just bureaucracy for the sake of it and rides roughshod over a nice gesture on the part of the club and is, frankly, an insult to Roberts' family. Ridiculous. It's the Southern League rather than the UCL (Diamonds got promoted last season, hence why they've had to reapply for dispensation to retire the shirt). But yeah it's a joke. Fair play to the club though they are ignoring the league and facing the consequences not so plastic now it seems.
