Title: We'll score again
Post by: Shoemaker on October 14, 2017, 22:25:32 pm
Don't know where don't know when
But I know we'll score again some sunny day.

6 consecutive league games without a goal is our second worst barren spell in our history. The record is 7 games back in 1939 which we could equal on Tuesday.

That must have been just before the time we went six years without a league goal.

Would take another own goal or at least a dodgy penalty. Anything. This is not the record breaking season I was expecting!

Indeed it was! It was the final 7 games of the 1938/39 season and then 6 further years before we scored a league goal again!!

Yesterday I backed billy waters to score anytime.
It's not a bad bet and I'm hoping for a payout before Christmas.

Time to revive this thread I think!

5 games without a goal for the second time this season.

When will we score again?  :'(

I think this is far too gentle. It's f ucking terrible, professional footballers should be able to hit the net once now and again, a non league club on a fa cup run team would yield more goals than this.
Joke. Getting beyond bad luck.

I'm not one to boo at a game but for f ucks sake and I don't care about this tin pot shi t cup. We need to start picking up 3 points once in a while.

It's clear what we need and has been for ages - to do it will need a big spend in the Jan window plus a massive clear-out of dead wood. If it doesn't happen we're back down in the clag and that'll be even more costly than not sorting the problems asap. Plus - Jimmy's looking punch-drunk and clueless.

I don’t believe the squad we have can’t score goals. This is the second long spell without a goal and it has to be down to the system this manager employs. I’m not having his modern football, give me some old fashioned goal scoring football!

It's not acceptable. I don't give a bollocks about the happy clappers. Scoring goals is the number one aim to win a football match.

Systems is nonsense. Corner deliveries, free kick deliveries should all yield chances. Lacking finishers, creativity and bravery when it's in the danger areas is telling.

 Goals win games.

2 wingers and 1 striker. Plus a massive clearout. Most of us have been saying this since September 1st. Just hope we're not too low come January now.

Still have faith JFH is the manager to take us forward.

Faith, that seems unimaginable for someone to deduce from the best singular performances since he took over let alone the combined medium.

January will not be the saviour of this club’s fate .
Too many people are looking at the window to miraculously change our fortunes .
More has to come from
The costing squad or else we will go down .
We have some good players here and they are not performing as a team.
It won’t be easy to offload players either . Nobody wants under performers on high wages .

January transfer window will be a damp squid.
Rather than spend decent money on decent strikers and wingers we will instead continue turd polishing.
In fact the turd 💩 polishing has begun.
Signing number one.
Some lad who can’t get a game for Southend £0

Time to wake up and smell the ☕️

We should use some of our share of the trillion pound currently  being invested by Chinese companies.
300k should get you 12 goals between jan and May.

Strange from Rico:

"I think we have shown this season that we can create, and we can score goals."

“I don’t think we are creating too many clear-cut chances,” said the former Chesterfield and Port Vale man. “It just seems to be half chances, or half chances we’re not quite getting on the end of, and it is a tough one, and is very frustrating.

“As a centre forward you thrive off service, and at the moment, whether it’s down to the strikers not getting on the end of things or the creative players not creating enough, it seems to be a bit of a combination."

Erm, so which one is it then? I'd say that we have created some clear cut chance and people have failed to put them away.

I think it's football talk, meaning collectively at the moment we're not good enough!
