Title: Swindon to go down?
Post by: wazzacobbler on June 03, 2010, 11:36:09 am
Billy Paynter has decided to quit the County ground for a Bosman move to Leeds United on a 3 year deal.

I was expecting Swindon to struggle this year after they sold Simon Cox but they found a decent replacement in Paynter finding some form without his old strike partner.

Now that they have neither I'm putting them down as a relegation favourite for definite.

Leeds sign Paynter (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/l/leeds_united/8717142.stm)

To be fair to Swindon, they managed to replace Cox's goals with Charlie Austin who had an outstanding first season in the Football League. If they can do the same with Paynter I don't see no reason why they can't do the same next year.

So the betting logic is: Swindon got to the playoffs just on the basis of one player - without him they finish in the bottom 4 - no wonder you never see a poor bookie  ;)

I think they have more than enough money with the sponsors of EA, Samsung and FourFourTwo to adequately replace any player!
