Title: NEWS: Cobblers sign Jack Bridge
Post by: Aitobs on January 05, 2018, 17:34:35 pm
Cobblers have signed Southend United midfielder Jack Bridge on a free transfer, the club has announced.

JFH very much rolling the dice on this one I think, could either be a revelation or a liability!

Just read the Southend forum, sounds an interesting prospect.

Free transfer and probably on a low wage. No risk really.

Is he another central midfielder?

He can play centrally but by all accounts prefers to play wide.

Well he seems popular amongst his teammates. Always a popular sign.

I read the Pompey forum on Holmes when he signed for us. Totally divided on Holmes some not even bothered either way! Not really a good guide.

Seems to have been labelled as a winger, and has some potential.

Might be a bit of a G-amble but at least it is another wide player added, hopefully pays off!

Yeah, interesting read on the forum and it certaintly makes it look a more impressive signing that it was on paper for a surplus to requirements league 1 player. Certainly not a winger though so not entirely sure where he'd slot into the team the week after Southend, but from all evidence this is a lad who wants to get out and play some football so I hope he get's the chance too.

Anybody know if left or right footed.....................although it amazes me that ALL footballers are not TWO footed, I thought that is what training was for!

They are... I’ve certainly never seen a footballer with one foot

Ishmel Demontagnac really did have two left feet but once played in the premiership  and represented England at youth level did he not? Having said that the best thing he ever did for us was synth down the smug Dele Alli at Milton Keynes getting himself sent off and banned.

The best thing I saw him do was shatter the seat in front of me with a wayward shot during the warm-up away at Bristol Rovers. The sheer power in the shot made both the seat and back parts just fly apart. It was most impressive. The accuracy less so...

Bristol Rovers ground is rather old though isn't it  ;)

Not sure how I typed synth instead of scythe. still, it recreates the image I suppose  ;D I have a Moog MG-1 in my version.

Underpass by John Foxx is a good song to synth someone to, or any Gary Numam number.

Can I remind Uncle Frank and also Mr Lambretta that this is a thread on Bridges! Not hooligan singers.

Don't worry Everbrite, I'm also a Benjamin Britten and Vaugham Williams fan. I'd associate John Foxx with the avant-garde scene more than hooligans.

Talking of Gary Numan, long shot I know, but if anyone has a spare ticket for his gig at the roadmender, I'll buy it😉

If only they had built the Roadmender bigger, the capacity really holds it back !    ;)

But then again, isn't it the capacity that makes it what it is?
