Title: Odd shaped players
Post by: Grove on February 25, 2018, 18:23:18 pm
Weve had over the years , some odd shaped players, Bayo was not a footballer shaped footballer, Nicky Smith didn't have a neck. Hildaberto looks weird he looks so top heavy that gravity should pull him over when he runs.
Who is your all time odd shaped Cobblers player  ;D

Pat Gavin had a massive arse.

Powell seems to have a disproportionately large sized arse, although he's not as effective with it.
And another thing. He doesn't seem to use his gastrocnemius, making him look completely flat footed. Maybe that's why he's crap in the air.
No offence Daniel  ;D

I've been trying to place where I've seen Bunney before and I think it's just occurred to me....

Hardly a day goes by that I am not thinking about it with fond affection.

 ;D

Talking about 'odd' looking players not sure if the great JJOT would win a beauty contest. Has a fine turn of dry wit tho'.

Duncan Spedding was pretty gangly - the exact opposite to John Hodge on the opposite side of the pitch!

Forget the players, what about the fans? Any one you know?  ;D

Wouldn't it be boring if we all looked the same?

Is that Chris Moyles at the back?

Na, he supports one of the most unlikable clubs on the planet.

Mascots! How about odd shaped mascots?

It's about time we celebrated another player and hopefully without ending in them getting sent off.

Any suggestions evers?

We could celebrate a fan instead if that helps? I have to get some use out of the large boots, black mac, dark glasses and umbrella I have stored in my vestibule.

Shhhhhhh  .  Evers might work out who I am :P

Could you imagine a stand full of unhappy old men swearing their head off. Actually that's most home games isn't it  ;D

I think you find lots of uses for them on the Racecourse and the dark web.

What's the dark web precious?

I reckon I danced with the one top centre to "Endless Love" on an "Its Ritzy" night at Syphilrellas Cockyfellas, following 6 pints of Lambrini top?

I think you may need a better defence when in court.

Never mind perving in the park, I'll give you Wakeley Gage, more gangly than odd though.

I'm all for Jeema Day...if anyone deserves their own tribute it's that man.

Back to the original theme of this thread, Kevin Thornton was a strange looking specimen.

John Hodge never looked like he should have been a footballer either.

John Hodge. What a player. I seem to remember in one home game him scoring in the first or second minute after a Lionel Messi style run from the right wing. Does anybody else remember it?

Hodge goal was Bury at home in 2001  :)

Jeema Day has been done in the past I believe.

Jjotday is without doubt the reason John Joe has ended up as the most influential player for the club. You're all welcome  8) :-*

My father use to tell me about Tom Smalley a full back for the Cobblers 1945/1950, a ferocious tackler and a very determined defender. From his picture he looked a meek and mild character albeit with a slightly sullen look. Apparently a gentleman off the pitch.
Try this link:  https://goo.gl/wa6eBY. I never saw him play.

According to Wikipedia he played for England in 1936. 200 games for us and two goals - a very old fashioned Full Back.
