Title: Blackpool (A) 3rd March
Post by: Dr Feelgood on February 25, 2018, 20:06:05 pm
They are on a decent run of 1 loss in 8 games. They had a good away win on Saturday against Portsmouth but their home record is dodgy.
This is must win for us since we're crap at home.

Prediction 1-1.

Bunney has to be dropped for the Buchmeister and play Facey in his correct position. Also lets hope KVV is fit since Long could hit a cows a*re right now.

All is good.

A brilliant away day by the icy sea, getting stuck at the top of Blackpool Tower due to frozen cables, and Coronation Street re-runs on the Trams.....

A 1-3 result in favour of the Cobblers (assuming we take our chances.....

Big Hugs.....

Are they expecting a big return of fans to Bloomfield Rd on Saturday, now that Oyston has stood down? Realise that's unlikely to be the end of the story of course!

Why did I book a hotel and hire a car?  :-\  ;D

Title: Re: Blackpool (A) 3rd March
Post by: BlackpoolCobbler on February 27, 2018, 21:18:45 pm
Until every Oyston is out of the club the fans won't return.Karl Oyston may have gone but it's his Dad Owen who owns the club still. They've just lost a big court case to Valeri Belekon who owns part of the club,it's a long old story but basically Belekon can now take what he is owed and the club looks to be part of it.
They could make a film out of this with what's happened the last 8 years.

Blackpool being on the West coast (nearer to LA I believe) is enjoying slightly better weather than the East. Blackpool is pretty flat, so surrounding area shouldn't pose a safety issue...and with Blackpool FC fairly recently in the Prem, doesn't Bloomfield Road have undersoil heating anyway?

From looking at the very latest forecasts it seems to suggest that the Blackpool area will suffer from heavy snowfalls on Thursday. Can Blackpool Cobbler give a daily update on local weather conditions and confirm if Blackpool does indeed have undersoil heating.

Local weather forecast for Blackpool and the Fylde coast: it's bloody freezing😂We've had no snow today,We always seem to miss it,looking out of my window towards the lakes they look to have taken a battering with the snow.I know the pitch is covered but it's not got above -3 all day.More updates tomorrow.

The article is worth a read just to try and get some understanding of the whole situation. The Blackpool supporters trust are asking away fans by all means go into the ground but don't buy food, drinks, programmes etc as its all money for the Oystons. There are plenty of local businesses which have suffered from the loss of fans eating in the chip shops etc near the ground so they are saying to go support those and buy food there.

What's the latest from our man in Blackpool?

The forecast for Saturday in Blackpool is relatively balmy in comparison to the rest of the country.
The problem we have is attempting to get through the rest of the country to get there, especially getting from down here to Northampton in the first place.
I am not confident of being able to attend...

Don't think Blackpool will announce anything till tomorrow afternoon/early Saturday due to the fact we've had no snow,it's still below freezing so it all depends on how hard the pitch is and if the temperature recovers but it's not looking likely.

Especially the refreshments!  ;D

It's a weekend though. Starting in Hinckley...finishing in Leicester. Having bought a tkt, I'm still considering giving it a miss should it be on, which is highly unlikely if the ref considers conditions of travelling team and fans will have to endure!

I spent two years working in Leicester, its a great place for a night out. Decent concert hall, decent ale houses, and no surprise, decent curry houses.
I liked it so much, I nearly ended up moving there.
The only downside, was that the locals are extremely parochial.

Not extremely happy...it's really bad down here in Oxford. Hired car but stuck - even the main roads are really dodgy. Hoping there's a rapid change by tomorrow morning and then a drive up to Leicestershire.

Must say, don't know how all these Prem games get the automatic go ahead! It's all well and good having undersoil heating but outside the stadium safety issues don't change from lower league clubs. Leicester City v AFC Bournemouth is on...Bournemouth fans travelling up from Dorset are going to have an almost impossible task - unless there is the aforementioned rapid improvement!

Slightly on and off topic but anybody remember being on route to I think Scunthorpe around 1986/87, see it's that long ago I can't even remember who we were playing! The game got called off but when we were around Leicester, our bus decided to go see Forest v Blackburn (not sure again!) Most of us were in the away end and it started snowing pretty heavily around half time. FFF kin freezing, wish I hadn't have bothered now but wanted an extra ground.

See how little you can actually remember going to games! Anybody else at a freezing City Ground in the late 80's?

This will be, more than likely, rescheduled for Tues 20th March. Blackpool have a game on Tues 13th and with us both playing on Good Friday, 30th March, I wouldn't think either team would want to play on Tues 27th.

Was it Boxing day ? I remember getting to Sc***horpe and a game being called off and we finished up going to Doncaster, I think they were playing Maidstone.

I might be wrong but I think we had more than two coaches. One went back, one went to Forest and the one you obviously chose the Doncaster bus?

Memory is not so great but do remember being given options on that day?

No game week ....
I’ve got absolutely nothing to say about the Cobblers .
No formation or team to talk about , no post match comments to upset me or players under performing ...
Rubbish premiership games on .
No six nations ...
Bored

Bit later than that...its was Boxing Day 1990, Doncaster won 3-0.  Maidstone didn't enter the league until 1989.

I'm trying to remember if I drove there and went to Donny or whether i was on the coach.....but yes, the Scunny game was called off about 2pm after a torrential downpour and we ended up at Belle View.

Think you are mixing up years here! Back around 85 time, a game up in Sc***horpe was off. Mounties coaches went to Forest v Blackburn in the FAC (won by Rovers)

Think you might be quoting the Boxing Day game around 92 time (iirc) when we got up to Sc***horpe, only for it to be off following a downpour! Managed like an idiot, to lose two of Sussex Mark's scarves out of the window with the lift back!

Oxford Utd v Fleetwood Town, already re-scheduled for April 10th. Not the same for our trip to Blackpool?

Agree that it is likely to be the 20th March.

Hope the weather is better than the rearranged match a few years ago :-(

If it was the 20th, do you reckon the squad would travel up and come back and then travel back up for the Fleetwood game... or just make a week of it?!

Really hoping for 20th March personally. Could attend both the Blackpool and Fleetwood games pretty easily then.

That's it! Fucking hell that long ago. Remember being on a Mounties coach, I think going to Scunny and ending up frozen to death on the open terraces at Forest. Warmed up now.

Thanks for clearing it up.

be better for me if they could make it Monday 26th March as it would be a definite long weekend up in sunny Blackpool for me.

I was in Blackpool for a p155 up a few years ago and I met a girl from Ireland who was there on a 2 week holiday.

But if we were playing on these dates then I guess it would make sense. Wonder if Buchanan can use his contacts at Preston to allow us to train there.

No need for contacts any further north than the Midlands. Just bring enough money for an alcopop or two.

Bit surprised no new date announced yet, would have thought it's fairly easy to arrange

Maybe suggests it won't be as soon as in 2 weeks time?

I predict the Blackpool game will be on 10th April.
I think they were waiting to see if they needed a date for shrews as well, this date will mean not too much of a gap between matches.
