Title: Local Politics - How NTFC fans can learn from Charlton
Post by: clarkeysntfc on May 25, 2018, 08:18:21 am
With local elections on the horizon, here is some inspiration from the story of Charlton's fans trust and what can be achieved at a local level.

Very admirable...but not sure of the 'achieved' part...Charlton went on to play at Selhurst Park, or was that prior to this?

Football and politics...back in the late eighties, a member of Portsmouth's 657 firm stood for election in Fratton & Southsea...for the '657 Party'!  :o  ;D

Charlton were exiled at Selhurst Park before this. The campaign got them back to the Valley.

A community-based political party that supports their local sports teams would certainly get my vote. Pity I don't live in Northampton.

TBF though such a party would have probably delivered redevelopment rights to Cardoza and Grossman even quicker.

Possibly - but perhaps would have not have been so forthcoming in continuing to submit the loan money to NTFC without checking whether the stand was actually getting built...

Indeed - the level of incompetence to allow additional dips into a drawdown loan without regular due diligence* checks is frankly incredible.

* Due diligence in this case could simple go and look at the building work!
