Title: Article about NTFC Poppy shirt
Post by: Club25Football on February 18, 2019, 11:10:21 am
Hi everyone, I run a wee blog about special and interesting football kits for which I try to write an article every week, and today I put my thoughts about the Cobblers' current home shirt online, based on the Poppy shirt worn by Buchanan in the eBay auction.

As I am not a fan per se, I'd be very happy to get some feedback and hear if I missed or got anything wrong about the club! I'm also very curious to hear what people think about the current shirt and Nike, compared to Erreā and previous suppliers.

Do please give the article a look if you're interested;

Why is it odd that a left back wears squad number 3? Pretty sure left backs have always tended to have the number 3 shirt...

Agreed, as far as I've known from non league to premier league its been

1 GK, 2 RB, 3 LB, 4 LCB, 5 RCB, 6 LCM, 7 RM, 8 RCM, 9 STR. 10 STR, 11 LM,

I remember an old soccer manager game having 1 - 11 with striker being 11 but that was the only time id seen a different method employed.

I think that's my continental bias showing, in my country left backs are traditionally given the #2 with right backs receiving #5. I'll alter the article slightly to reflect this, thanks for the heads up.

Do any of the recent NTFC kits stand out as particularly good or bad? I did mention the horrendous 97/98 shirt, but the rest have been reasonably traditional. To refresh everyone's memory;

I personally prefer pre sponsorship shirts. Soon as they started sticking company names on them it ruined them..

96 (wembley) shirt is king.........still.

It is normally some of the away shirts that have been horrendous. I prefer when the away shirt has been a rich golden yellow with a CLARET trim.
