Title: Government Spending
Post by: Melbourne Cobbler on December 24, 2019, 22:00:16 pm
People occasionally ask me about the difference between Australia and the UK. Regarding the general level of investment here, there seems quite a contrast? That’s health, education, crime and infrastructure. To give an indication of how different I noticed in the Chron that there are to be 1500 police officers in Northamptonshire? Baring in mind Melbourne is a major city how does it compare on the crime measure? Well according to the latest figures there are 36 crimes per 1000 in Northamptonshire per annum. In Victoria it is 6 per 1000 per annum. In terms of police there are 29 police officers per 1000 people, in Victoria there are 59 per 1000. I accept this is a generalisation of the figures but even so? Alarmingly Victoria are about to recruit an additional 3,000 officers as they are concerned about current levels. That’s right, 6 times the crime with half the police to deal with it. Don’t even get me started on the experience at A&E. Scandalous how people in the UK are being short changed if you ask me? If you ever wondered why the police may take 2 hours to turn up if at all, everything you need to know is right here.

Yes but running a functioning society takes money. If I had to pay more tax, how on Earth would I be able to afford heated wing mirrors on my next new BMW? /s (just in case)
