Chron article suggests the kits will be specifically designed for the club, which would be a welcome departure from the generic templates under Nike.

If they made them cheaper and more realistic to their worth, they may even sell a few more...I only buy one every three or four seasons because of the prices...

Step backwards in my opinion. From a world recognised brand, to a manufacturer of paints for model aircraft.

The main point is to get the CLARET colour correct not maroon!

Very exciting news. They've made some nice bespoke kits for lower League clubs in recent years.

Rather bespoke indeed...and goes with my bespoke trainers!  ;D

If it looks like the classic Lotto shirt from the mid 90s then I am all for it. Proper claret colour, and a simple logo. I remember talking to an Everton fan in the King Billy one night, he could not understand why we had such a sponsor, and theirs was a local butchers (I think)
As an aside, I have just taken a delivery of Old Hooky from the brewery. It took two days, but was worth the wait. Ching Ching as it turned up. Not happy with the driver though. Miserable c***. You dont get a tip or feedback pal.

Ironically, in the village of Hook Norton itself is a small independent brewery - Turpin, which you can find in a couple of pubs in the area - namely Banbury, which I find much nicer than Hook Norton.

Have tried a couple of their keg beers, not bad at all. I have been surviving on Potbelly during lockdown, just about to order my 4th case

Hook Norton brew decent ales and have a great shop at the brewery. I worked in Banbury for a few years, so saw a lot of it about. Ye Olde Reindeer Inn in the town was great.
Had a case of Phipps' special pint bottled ales delivered for V E Day, 8 bottles for £20' free delivery next day. It included Cobblers Ale.

I was exited about the Nike partnership to start with, but in all honestly the generic Nike templates are boring and shared with a dozen other clubs each year, and I'm not as massive fan of the material either.

Only hope I have for this is that we don't end up getting pushed to the back of the queue and have to play the first game of the season with our old shirts because of delays, which happened the last time we used a smaller producer.

I think that it was last season that FGR had to purchase a complete Sunday League kit from a local sports shop/supplier for their first half a dozen games when they had Hummel initially!!  :o

Used to work for a decorators merchants in Leicester years ago. Got angry with the paint tinter every night when turning it off, wondering which dick of a programmer thought it was clever to have the programme saying it was 'excited' every day when turning off...after a couple of years of shaking my fist at the invisible programmer, realised the computer when shutting down for the night said;

Here was the view from the FGR person:
"Good luck with Hummel, they failed to deliver for us...literally...despite having several months lead in time our kit failed to arrive for the first game of the season. The day before the game against Grimsby the club bought a set of kit from a local sports shop, who sent them up on the day of the game by courier. We had to wear the kit, home and away, for the first couple of months of the season until PlayerLayer produced kit for us. Despite not being our real colours the strip provided by the sports shop, very similar to Man City but with a slightly brighter blue, became a fans favourite.".  :o

They were originally black and white before Chairman Vince's little green book decided green was the eco reflective way forward...and seemingly a splash of sky blue thrown in!

Looking at world football Lanus, Torino and Metz all play in our colours and their shirts both present and historical are pretty much identical to each other and ours? I would personally like to see some flamboyant ruffles a la Prince, Adam Ant, Lawrence Lewellyn Bowen etc? However in hereditary terms the Northampton Coat of Arms is claret green and white so perhaps we should really be similar colouring to Fluminense?

After 30 years you feel this is a reason to finally post a comment? I would suggest you stay in your room and watch maybe some 1980 season reruns on YouTube just for a change. The shirts were amazing in the 80's.

Love it in the pictures, with claret shorts hopefully.
Quality has been mentioned as a concern, we'll see when we can test it. Will it be less than previous prices?
I wouldn't be unhappy with a reverse claret home shirt either.

Really like the idea of the white shirt with claret pin stripes in principle but the execution is f@@king awful. There’s no need for the pinstripes to fade into nothing and the small stripe from the centre of the neck just looks sh1t.

Post by: WadeyCobbler on July 26, 2020, 21:02:18 pm
I like it. White with claret trim and now the throwback pinstripes. I wonder if the home kit will be the reverse of that? We will probably need a 3rd kit though as would this and a mainly claret shirt clash with teams in red / red & white stripes?

Anybody over 30 wearing a football shirt and paying around £50 for the privilege should have a serious look at themselves. What posesses an overweight man (it's mostly men) to don the uniform of athletes and then claim it looks good?

Otherwise I like the away shirt although I kinda wish it was the home shirt.

Harsh. I wear the shirt as I'm proud to show the colours of the team I've followed all life.

I think the new away shirt looks really good. I do think a light colour is better than a dark shirt. It is easier to see your colleagues out of the corner of your eye if they are wearing all white and not all black. Remember when Man U ditched their all grey strip at half time as players couldn't see each other and never used it again...

I collect football shirts, makes me happy. I wear them whenever I like and I dont think age or size should matter, if you want to wear one then do it if it makes you happy.

I would maybe draw the line at those who decide to walk around in full kit, socks and all... but even then. Who am I to judge!

As others have mentioned, a complete reverse of this for the home kit would do nicely.

Just one question remains IMO, white or claret socks to go with this 2nd strip?

Completely agree, like I posted before I also don’t like the way the pin stripes fade into nothing instead of carrying on to the bottom which is a shame as otherwise I think it would look really great.

I seem in the minority though as there’s a lot of very positive comments, so do people like the choices of the neck stripe & fading pin stripes?

Will it look nice on the football pitch? yes.
Will the stripe in the middle and the sponsor on the back stop me from buying it? Also yes.

I know that hummel don't have an influence on the back sponsor, but they really do look stupid on a fan kit with no name and number.
I do like the kit generally however, the claret sponsor and pin stripes I like, even the faded effect. I actually also wish it was the home kit, a proper reflection of the 86 shirts and a reminder that we don't have to have a claret home kit all the time.

Just to clarify, not all 30 and overs are overweight. So you may be speaking for yourself here.

I like it. I think I'm going to update my Cobblers shirt this year after not bothering for the last few years because they were hardly any different from the one I have.

I haven't yet made my mind up which one yet, but I may be leaning towards buying my first ever away shirt.

Anyone else think we may need a third kit when we're playing against teams in red/white stripes? Sunderland, Lincoln and Doncaster as examples. I suppose an off the peg yellow or black Hummel kit would do the job.

Agree a third kit will be needed. Previously we have recycled old away kits for the few games we need one but guess we cant do that any more with moving to a new company

I've just had a look on the club shop - it might be an error but the infant kits are partially showing with a cost of £40! That's a 60% increase on last year! If that's right and is reflective of the cost of all the kits I'll be sticking with my 3 or 4 year old Nike shirt!!!

It seems the £40 price tag for the infant kit is actually right as it's now appearing properly on the site. This year it does include socks as well as a shirt and shorts, but for £15 more than I paid last year that's a hell of a lot of money for a tiny pair of socks that I don't want!

It's a bit galling as I've been planning on getting my little girl a shirt with her name and age on the back each year as she grows up and then keeping them to do something with when she's a bit older, so I really wanted to keep that going but I'm not paying that much on principle! It's a bit academic as they don't seem to offering the option to personalise them at the moment anyway. ::)

£45 each for the adult shirts, but they're describing the home shirt as 'red', be careful...

I bought the 0-6 month last year that also includes shorts for £25 so £15 for a pair of socks I dont want. Same price for a 6 month old as a 6 year old doesnt seem right some how.

Completely agree, mate. I flinched at spending £32 last year with the name and number on the back but decided to do it in the end. Presuming when they add the option to personalise them again they'll be about the same price, that's going to be nearly £50 for the same thing this year and I could get her 10 lots of shorts and tshirts for that elsewhere. I know you pay a premium for the branding and I accept that, but there's charging a premium and there's taking the p***!!

Purchased the home shirt today, birthday present from my wife. Not allowed to try on in the shop, for obvious reasons, so asked about the sizing. I was told coming up slightly smaller than the Nike shirts of last year. Bought the same size in the end (2xl , as always buy the next size up to my normal xl size , as wear on top of a hoody in the winter). Agree its slightly smaller, but only just , fits nice, looks good on and quality looks good too.

Ordered the away one online on Sunday, received it Wednesday. I'm typically a Large, but last year's Nike training top was snug so bought XL. A nice fit, although a tad too long for my liking. But decent quality and went running in it and it felt good, despite not boasting any dry wick sweat absorbing type qualities.

I guess it depends if you can see your c0ck when you look down, if you can then an L would suffice otherwise go for the XXXL, better to be safe than show the bottom of your belly.

I'm generally an M but found the L to be a perfect fit for me, not caring for the clinging look. I'd go a size up on whatever you'd normally have.

Wouldn't c0ck size be an additional parameter to take into account with regards to this scientific approach to shirt sizing?
