Title: Old Cobblers shirts and memorabilia
Post by: Diddy on July 04, 2020, 09:51:04 am
Hi all

Just wondering if anyone has any old Cobblers shirts (1980s to late 1990s) that they would consider selling.

Adult sizes M, L or XL.

Also any other memorabilia from same era.

Many thanks

John

I'm afraid that my computer skills are somewhat wanting so apologies if this doesn't come out right. Is John/Diddy for real?
If so, do you count programmes as memorabilia? I have a fair number of home and away programmes back into the 50s. Unfortunatlely the programmes are in Canada and postage rates are very high, so it is probably only worthwhile to consider the lighter weight programmes from the 50s and 60s. Same probably applies to what little memorabilia I would have. But I would be willing to look for specific items, I would prefer to ship to a good home than send them to recycling.

Bumping this up again in case anyone is having a clear out over the new lockdown and fancies any sales/swaps!

Even just sharing your rarest stuff, I love seeing it!

I've got a fair amount of "swop" Cobblers home programmes from 1960 onwards and some away's. Send me lists to see if I can help.

I've got a jug of spit from the Atkins years and a piece of crud salvaged from the bogs at the County Ground. Any good?

You just can't help yourself... decent thread and you weigh in with poorly judged comments

I have a signed match ball from Graham Carr’s 1986/87 D4 title winning team (if the price is right 😉). It was from the home match against Lincoln City (which I sponsored) who that season went on to be the first team automatically relegated from the football league.  It is signed by all the legends of that season; captain Trevor Morley, top scorer Richard Hill, the brilliant Eddie McGoldrick, Ian Benjamin, Dave Gilbert, Phil Chard et al.

Interestingly that was also the year the play offs were introduced and for the first two seasons involved just the three teams finishing below the automatic promotion places, plus the team from the division above that finished a place above the automatic relegation places.  The final was a two legged affair then with Aldershot beating Wolves on aggregate and joining us along with second placed Preston and third place Southend in D3

You've swayed me, you've definitely taken that honour.
I wouldn't add that to your sad signature block though.

I just about take your point but if you approve of Indecent comments like that then I am surprised.

I think that your interpretation and threshold of 'indecent' is different to mine?

Clutching at straws now?
And no, I wouldn't call it tasteless, just a bit of humour which also reflects on how we knew The County Ground.
