Title: Is this forum dying a death? Apathy reigns.
Post by: Shoemender on November 14, 2021, 19:21:08 pm
Since the end of yesterday's game there have only been about 40 posts across every category of our forum, that's less than 2 per hour, with only about 1 per hour commenting on the game itself and a few about nothing particularly significant. Are we losing interest, does it some up the general apathy surrounding our club, are there too many people with prem teams? I've never known it so quiet. We must have the least activity of any forum in the league and half of them didn't even play yesterday. I know we were utter shıte yesterday and our fans seemed the quietest they've ever been at any away game I can remember, even when there were less than half the amount there. Is anyone bothered?

I don’t know where everyone is…..normally if one forum is quiet then everyone is on a different forum….but even the FB groups seem pretty quiet at the moment too.

Cobblers fans just not really doing social media in league 2……

What’s to say FFS!?
We were s***. We know we’re not that bad and it was a blip.
No one knows why.
The ref was crap but, if anything we had the best of his crapness.
Nothing to panic about. No great conspiracy or injustice. What else do you want folks to say?
Gotta admit, I prefer silence to inane comments, over reaction and wind ups!!

Fans have probably got lives to lead and don't need to be measured by their internet usage.
We lost, I tutted, I moved on.
Next game is Tuesday.

I avoid this board, and all social media on weekends we lose.
It puts enough of a downer on the weekend without seeing some numpty post some rubbish that then annoys me.
I instead do as much as I can to remind myself its only a game and it doesn't matter, before breaking down in tears and punching the floor shout why why why

I'm not bored. All I did was noticed an unusual lack of activity on our forum and commented on it. I didn't expect abuse or snide remarks especially from an administrator.
It's no wonder that we get very few new members on here when all they can expect is contempt, even from some of those running it.

For me personally I find most topics tend to be dominated by the same individuals and the same arguments tend to occur, or they descent greatly off topic, which for me is of no interest.

Don't know about others but that's the reason I tend not to post often.

I was merely signposting you to a more active environment. It was an attempt to stimulate you  :o

Thanks, and very true on the messages. But thats over a 9 year period, I guess I would like to have more discussion particularly on our players / matches or on topics relevant to the club. I just dont have any desire to have personal slanging matches or veer too far off topic.

I meant to post this a few days back but today will do.

If I want a decent preview of a match and a detailed analysis of what went wrong/right after the game and what to do about it this is the place for me not Radio Northampton or the Chronicle.

It’s probably because this format is very old hat. I’d guess the average age of those using it is 40+.
It’s all about Insta, Twitter, Snap chat and probably platforms most of us have never heard of. Even FB has been sliding out of fashion for some time now. ‘People’ just want to take an opposing view or pamper their egos.
They probably aren’t talking much about the Cobblers elsewhere though.
We’ll soon be downloading our thoughts with an algorithm doing the leg work. We’ll upload anything we’re interested in. It won’t be far away.

There’s probably more general apathy around football than ever before.

Rose and Super Sam look virtually identical.

BAS always seems to fall down.

Kabamba - great for a song from the (not so) cheap seats...but can't seem to do what he should - score.

Mitchell almost single handedly got us relegated last season.

Now, onto the East Stand... ;)

Apathy as in watching a game and getting on with your life. I can remember when a result could ruin the week for a sizeable number of fans. Not sure that’s the case anymore.
Depends when you stick a marker in the ground but our attendances have certainly increased since the 70’s but not sure we’d see 30-40k going to Wembley anymore.
I don’t think attendance is a direct correlation to apathy, certainly not when talking about chat forums anyway.

I thought you widened it to general apathy in football.
Football has never been more popular and is going through a golden era.
