With the scores from match 1 pending its match 2 that kicks off our results thread this season.....and a trip to Rochdale didn't appeal to many as a poor crowd of 2558 turned out at Spotland. We had 27 guessers for this game but only ONE came within 400 of the figure needed to score points, so hats off to the winner philntfc whose guess of 2902 came in 344 away earning him one point and of course the winners bonus.

The home league campaign kicked off with a visit from title favourites Rotherham, who were duly sent packing with their tales between their legs! The attendance however, boosted by a decent away support only reached the figure of 4171, out of the range of the majority of our 21 guessers. Only seven scored points this game, the rest were too high with their guesses. The closest guess was made by The Hask who went for 4299 and was 128 away. 3 points and the bonus for the 2011 champ, as he hits the top of the table at this early stage of the season.

The delayed results from the Cardiff game will now stand, we had 15 guessers (sorry for the late notice) and six of those scored points. The gate was a low 2819, all of our guessers thought there would be more than that, so the closest guess was made by bigcitylights whose guess of 2909 was 90 away. 10 points and the bonus for BCL, and a place at the top of the early season tree.

Game 4 saw a home tie against Southend United, and the declared gate was 4562. We had 24 guessers for this one, with 17 scoring points....four guesses were pretty close. Cox23Jam guessed 38 away, Tyro was 34 away and both scored 7 points, GrangePArkCobbler went for 4553 which was just 9 away, but even that gujess was beaten as singcobb came home with the goods as his guess of 4555 was only 7 away.
15 points and the bonus for sing, and joint top of the table.

Another game that failed to catch the imagination of the paying public, The Wolfs of Wolves came to town for this televised Capital One Cup match, and only 3758 turned out to watch. We had 21 guessers, with only 4 scoring points.... GPC 381 away, BSCobbler 378 away for two points each, bigcitylights 224 away for four but the closest by far this game was IwishIwasafly whose guess of 3788 was only 30 out. Double points for this cup game means that his guess is worth 14 points and the bonus.
Bigcitylights is out in front on his own, with the Fly up to 4th from joint 19th!

We had 22 guessers for the Plymouth match, and the best scoring game so far as thirteen of you scored points this time around. An attendance of 6037 turned out to see Plymouth win, CobblersTillIDie picked up 5 points with a guess of 5980, Tuks got seven for his 6074, but closest guessers was New Dawn Fades whose guess of 6003 came in just 34 away, also earning him 7 points but the bonus too.

Game 7 was the JPT clash against MK, a game which produced a decent gate of 3444. We had 26 guessers for this one, with only six of that number getting within the 400 required to score points.
GrangeParkCobbler guessed at 3353 which was 91 away, earning 10 points but the winner this time was Abington Cobbler who went for 3456 and ended up 12 away. With double points on offer thats a healthy twenty and the bonus for the previously unsuccessful guesser who was pointless before this game......so its a rise from equal 24th to 4th on the back of that result. Current champion GPC finds himself at the top of the table, unusually seeing as he's not been closest in any game thus far....

AFC Wimbledon were the visitors to Sixfields for game 8 of our competition, a game which pulled in a crowd of 4235. We had 24 guessers for this game with no fewer than sixteen of us scoring points.
Five point guesses were made by abington_cobbler and singcobb, but the winner this round was GrangeParkCobbler who plumped for 4208 and was 27 away. A first win of the season for GPC who picks up seven points and the bonus consilidating his lead at the top of the table in the process.

Game 9 of the season saw the Cobblers visit Fleetwood for the first league encounter between the two teams. A gate of 3027 turned out to watch. We had 21 guessers for this game, with 13 of them scoring points this time.
There were four close guesses..... IWishiwasafly going for 2991 (36 away), wrigleys plumping for 3056 (29 away) and Coboz guessing 3052 (25 away), all three scored 7 points for their troubles, but it was GrangeParkCobbler who picked up his second win in succession with a guess of 3006, closest at 21 away and worth ten points plus the bonus.
A healthy lead already for GPC in this years competition......

A pitiful crowd of just 1429 turned out to see Dagenham host the Cobblers on a Tuesday night.....we had 24 guessers for this game, and everyone went too high, not surprisingly perhaps!! We only had 5 point scoring guesses, all of whom were more than 300 away so only get a solitary point, all except for St Edmundsbury Cobbler that is, who at least has the consolation of the 5 point winners bonus!

Game 11 was the home bore draw with Chesterfield, a match which attracted 4709 fans to the Sixfields library.
We had 25 guessers for this game, with all but two scoring points this game.
There were three really close guesses, all scoring 15 points.....Dave was only 9 away with a guess of 4700, GrangeParkCobbler was 7 out with his guess of 4716, but he was pipped to the post by tuks who was two closer with a guess of 4714. Well done to all three players for their great guesses. Doc Feelgood also picked up 10 points for his decent guess which was 21 away.
Tuks is up to second, and Daves good guess bring him his first points of the season. GPC way out in front though.....

The game at the Pirelli saw Burton pull in a decent (for them) crowd of 2857, all of our 21 guessers were below this figure with thirteen of us over 400 below and so failing to score.
Three close guesses, Mazza82 was 79 away and Mackem Cobbler 53 away, both scoring 5 points, but it was Banbury Cobbler who picked up a first win of the season with a guess of 2809, 48 away. 7 points and the bonus for Banbury.
Tuks picked up three points to close the gap a the top just a little....

Twemty-two guessers for the game against Gillingham....a game which pulled in a paltry 3648 fans. Out of our 22 guessers....none scored any points! The closest guess was a whopping 523 away, so at least bigcitylights gets the satisfaction of a victory and accordingly the bonus too!

Only 20 guessers for this game, but at least 15 of them scored points this time so a more successful week for most!
The crowd of 5166 was a bit lower than most guessed, however there were three standout guesses......all of whom scored 10 points.....Deepcut Cobbler was 21 away with a guess of 5145, GrangeParkCobbler just 14 away with his 5152, but the winner this game was SxCobbler who came in closest with a guess of 5155, just 11 away.

Only 20 guessers for the JPT game against Colchester, a match which produced the lowest ever attendance for a competitive game at Sixfields, namely 1561.
Just 7 of our number scored the double points on offer for this cup game, with Deepcut Cobbler (1600, 39 away) just pipped to the post by GrangeParkCobbler with his guess of 1595, only 34 away. 7 points doubled and the bonus for GPC who continues like a runaway train at the top of the table.

We had twenty-two guessers for this home game with Exeter City which pulled in a decent gate of 4607...a figure higher than any of our guessers guessed! We only had 6 players who failed to score points though this game, one of them was me!!
Two good guesses made by Dave (4541 for 66 away) and philntfc (4525 for 82 away) each wirthy of 5 points, but it was BSCobbler who was nearerst this time out, a guess of 4571 which was only 26 away earning him 7 points and the bonus.
The higher scorers were those down in the lower reaches of the table, therefore nobody was really able to take advantage of GPC's slip-up.

21 guesses were made for the game which saw a Friday night trip to the Capital to see the Cobblers surrender meekly against a Davids inspired Barnet. The attraction of the Dutchman put a lot on the gate too it would appear as a healthy 2721 turned out. All of our guessers guessed under, in fact we only had 6 point scoring guesses this game..... closest was Deepcut Cobbler with his 2622 coming in 99 away and worth 5 points and the bonus. The top two failed to score (again!) so Deepcut seized a little of the initiative and moved second overall.

One of the smallest Sixfields crowds ever for a league match as only 3541 turned out to see Bradford meet the Cobblers. We had 23 guessers for this one....all but one guessed too high, and we only had 8 point scoring guesses overall.
Bigcitylights guessed 3483 which was 58 away and worth 5 points, but an inspired guess by IWishIwasafly who buzzed in with 3550 and was just 9 away. Fifteen points and the bonus winging their way to you!
IWish moves up to second in the table now.

Match 19 saw the Cobblers entertain and dispatch Port Vale, and a decent crowd of 5061 turned out at Sixfields.....we had 23 guessers and only 3 of them came close enough to score points. Two points for Coboz, three for The Hask, but its BSCobbler who came closest this game with a guess of 4976 which was 85 away. This earns him 5 points and a second bonus of the season.
A bit of shuffling around in the play-off positions, but the table is pretty much unchanged this week.

After the decent gate against Port Vale we had the other end of the spectrum as a pitiful 2512 came out to see the Cobblers take on Bradford in the first round of the FA Cup...we only had 21 guessers for this one and with the double points on offer it is perhaps only to be expected that nobody got anywhere near that figure!! The "winner" this game was philntfc whose round 3000 guess was closest. He only picks up the winners bonus though, so another game where little changes in the overall standings.

Twenty guessers for the Cup replay game at Bradford, a game which attracted a massive gate of 2951......we had some wild guesses for this game, so much so that only two players scored points. Game 26 saw the Cobblers make the trip to Oxford, and despite all the hype the gate only reached 6635, this threw many of our 21 guessers off the scent, so much so that only 9 of us scored points. The one stand-out guess was made by Abington_Cobbler who went for 6677 and was only 42 away. Seven points and the bonus for you sir!

Match 27 saw the Cobblers crash out of the JPT, in what was the last cup action of the season, therefore the last double points opportunity for our guessers! We did have our regular 21 again....and only 10 scored points this round. With the double on offer well done to Cox23Jam and GrangeParkcobbler who both picked up 10 points for their guesses which were 98 and 81 away respectively. However this games winner with a superb guess of 1766 was BSCobbler....he was only 14 away, therefore he gets 20 points and the bonus.

An away game at Torquay saw 2302 fans out in force at Plainmoor....we only had 18 guessers this game with all but one scoring points. Four players picked up five points apiece, and three picked up 7.....BSCobbler with his 2345 (43 away), Doc Feelgood guessed 2341 which was 39 away.....but he was pipped to the crown by Deepcut Cobbler who was two closer with his guess of 2339.

Game 32 saw Fleetwood visit Sixfields, and a similar gate to the previous game turned out, 4381 in attendance. We had 19 guessers again, with SXCobbler gaining 7 points for a guess of 4420 (39 away), St Edmundsbury Cobbler getting 10 points (4367 was only 14 away) but a superb guess made by Coboz who went for 4380 and was just one away...so close Coboz! 15 points and the bonus for you though!!
Coboz joins two other players on 102 points, GPC keeps picking up the twos and threes though and the lead is back up to 34 points...theres a big gap now between 6th and 7th too.

Another midweek game saw the Teyn travel to Gillingham, a gate of 5600 was announced.....we had 18 guessers of whom ten scored points. 7 points each go to Wrigleys (5555 was 45 away) and philntfc (5630 was 30 away) but the winner for this round was the smiling Deepcut Cobbler who went for 5622 and was closest, just 22 away. 10 points and the bonus means the gap to pointless leader GPC is closed somewhat this week!

A decent gate of 7739 turned out as The Cobblers made their first trip to Rotherhams new New York ground, we had 19 guessers but only 8 came close enough to score points. The home crowd against Rochdale was swelled by an enormous amount of children courtesy of the Cobblers marketing efforts, and a much higher than anticipated 5110 turned out. We had 19 guessers, only six were within the requisite 400 to score any points, all guessed under of course, but guessing least under was IWishIwasaFly who went for 5012 and was 98 away. 5 points for the fly lover, but not much change to overall standings as the top six fail to muster a point between them!

We only had 18 guessers for the game which was Southend away.....a disappointing gate of 5406 turned out, only six of our guessers came close enough to score points.

Game 40 saw us travel to AFC Wimbledon, and for once a higher than anticipated gate of 4129 were present.....we only had 16 guessers with just 7 of those scoring points.

16 guessers for the first leg of the Play-off Semi-Final against Cheltenham....a poor take up from the visitors and the failure to sell all the home tickets meant that the gate came in at 6563, a figure which was lower than all our guessers went for!! As it was we only had 6 point scorers this round, with the closest guess made by coboz who was still 187 out with his 6750. Three points and the bonus for coboz who moves up to second overall, with not much else changing in our table!

16 guessers again, this time for the away playoff game at Cheltenham, a gate of 5955 saw a rare Cobblers away win and therefore a Wembley trip clincher! 14 of our 16 scored points this round, two of them getting 7 points each. Myself, with a guess of 6003 which was 48 away, but I was pipped to the win by philntfc who picks up his 5th win of the season with a guess of 5999...44 away.

So, the season came to a crunching end with the play-off final at Wembley.....I'm not saying anything about the match, but the attendance was 47127. We had 15 guessers for this one, with extra points on offer...I think guessing was made easier by ticket sales updates, this meant that 11of our number scored points!
Two guessers got 25 points a piece for great guesses....BSCobbler went for 46985 which was only 142 away, but closer still was wrigleys who picks up the final win bonus with his guess of 46997....just 130 out.
Wrigleys moves up into the top ten at the end of procedings but long time leader GRANGEPARKCOBBLER ends up on top of the pile, fully 82 points ahead of the rest. A fourth GTA Title for GPC......I guess that means i've got to run it again for next season!!
