Title: New Signings Post by: 606 Parklands_Cobbler on May 15, 2010, 13:41:50 pm Sammo has said that he has got his eye on a couple a players, after reading around internet/paper, these could well be:
Joe Magunda (Defender, Brackley Town) :) Richard Butcher (Midfielder, Lincoln City) :) Dan Gleeson (Right Back, Cambridge Utd) ;D I think these could be very good signings especially Gleeson who could solve the right back problem now we haven't got Johnson (and don't want Rodgers playing there!) Also talk of Danny Crow coming back, but can't see that happening while we have still got Guinan. Heard anything else anyone? post it here!... Butcher is not liked by most fans of clubs he has played for!! By all accounts a poor man's Gilligan. Title: Re: New Signings Post by: Son Of Geoff on May 15, 2010, 14:04:23 pm Although it's unlikely to happen, if all the players offered contracts stay, and we can't get rid of the ones on the transfer list, we've already got our squad of 18. It'll be a smaller squad than last year season, and we already know they're not good enough.
On the other hand, IF Bayo & Guinan leave and IF we get shot of the transfer listed lot, and IF we keep Holt, Osman, Thornton, Gilbert & Davis, we'll have a squad of 14. So, 6 places to fill. It's essential that we get a RB and a CB. We could do with a bit more talent on the right wing too (Albert Adomah from Barnet would do), and then 2 strikers. I would guess the last place in the squad would then go to Seb Harris. I'm still not sure if I'm looking forward to next season. Title: Re: New Signings Post by: NTFC Nut on May 15, 2010, 15:35:33 pm Someone from higher up the league pyramid will come in for Bayo, other League Two sides will be willing to take a punt on McCready and Hinton. Guinan might be difficult to offload but will probably end up being moved into a coaching role like Brown was.
Title: Re: New Signings Post by: Tyler on May 15, 2010, 16:53:07 pm From what i hear we're in for Gleeson and Danny Crow, thats correct. The same Danny Crow who is quite possibly the biggest twat of a striker ever to wear the shirt. Apparently Luton also want them, so they have to decide on higher wages or league football
Title: Re: New Signings Post by: ef_cobbler28 on May 15, 2010, 17:16:23 pm I have heard the gleeson rumour.
Crow will sign for Luton next week. Also think we need target men if bayo leaves. The only other one I have heard about is kedwell from afc Wimbledon Title: Re: New Signings Post by: Zen Master on May 15, 2010, 17:53:28 pm Every year we mention Richard Butcher as he gets bombed out yet another club just because he's local. Check out http://www.givemefootball.com/pfa-transfer-list for a list of readily available young released players, has beens and never weres. I do hope that we get a chance for good early planning and that Sammo makes the team his own. He doesn't seem afraid to shirk a challenge by listing Guinan, Hinton etc. Whoever we get particularly up front I hope they're mobile and put themselves about as well as smashing the onion bag frequently. How about Exodus from the Scum. Movement of Jah People. Title: Re: New Signings Post by: Zen Master on May 15, 2010, 17:56:48 pm Mark Little, Daniel Jones and George Friend have all been released by Wolves.
Yes please but unlikely. I am struggling with the concept of a poor man's Gilligan. You could be talking about a three legged cat. Title: Re: New Signings Post by: DoD on May 16, 2010, 16:23:46 pm We could always offer to give Guinan back to Hereford for Leon Constantine

Title: Re: New Signings Post by: 4everdelayed on May 16, 2010, 19:26:44 pm Cleveland Taylor transfer listed by Brentford. He'd be handy. Doubt we'd pay any money out for anyone though.

Cleveland Taylor is a class act at this level but I doubt we'd go in for him or he'd be intrested in us, as he is very capable of performing well for a top half League One club. I'd love to see Kevin Thornton sign his contract with us and persuade Sammo and his older brother, Sean Thornton who got released by Leyton Orient to come aboard ! Title: Re: New Signings Post by: NTFC Nut on May 16, 2010, 21:16:49 pm Signing Sean Thornton up would make sense; we definitely need more options in midfield (particularly if Osman or Davis receive a better offer from elsewhere) and having your brother at the club is bound to be a massive help to you settling in. The Thornton brothers are still young and very talented, if they can get their off-field issues sorted they're potentially very saleable assets for a club like ours, so there'll be plenty of interest in both of them this summer.
