point proven? you're argument was that we were in a run of games against top teams. The four teams we've played are all currently top 5, so you disprove you're own argument (not for the first time). Page had to go, no discussion to be had, Edinburgh has reached a similar stage.
The only fact is management and for a chairman picking a manager is not much more than luck. Most people thought Johnson and Boothroyd would be good appointments, they weren't. Given previous league success/promotions most would have questioned Calderwood, Wilder, Sampson and even Carr, but they had some very successful times here.

The very argument you started (well this one anyway) is based on the teams we played being top 10. You started at some point saying top 8, but then expanded it, but I'll let that pass. What you've failed to address, as does your own point, is when we started our plummet we were 4th or 5th in the table. So the stat doesn't work that way round?

Christ!
Last 20 matches Played 20 Won 5 (includes Harrow) Drawn 2 (includes West Ham, lost on pens Lost 13 (includes Stourbridge - who aren't top 9 in their division)
The football is dire
The players are not playing for the manager
Manager tells me midweek he has signed a player with pace to burn who will terrify defences, then on Saturday takes him off after 28 minutes telling me he's not fit
If we wait until February, your very own point about a new manager being unable to make any changes becomes fact however if we act now they can.
I could go on but as this view doesn't agree with yours I'm sure it's not valid. Some of the February games are winnable, but current form, inability to defend tell me we won't get as many points as we'd all like.

Its about his results against teams of our standard and lower so far You realise in the current bottom 4, we've drawn with two, lost to one and held on against a team in freefall more than us
Its about the pay off he (and backroom staff) will get and how that will affect us Valid point. Also need to consider if we go down , or stay up with the prospect of similar standard next year could easily lose 4/500 season ticket sales
It's about paying for a new manager, who might not do any better Only if employed, if Adkins etc wages would be as currently budgeted, so only pay off above counts
Its about there being no standout candidates for the job Was Wilder? A big name that we can get doesn't mean much - Johnson, Boothroyd
Its about a new manager having to work with players that aren't his This is more valid if Page stays to 1 Feb and replacement can't bring new faces he wants
Its about the fact we have 30 points from 26 games already Burning it up. We won 12 from 15 in September, one month from five is more a blip that current form
Its about giving a manager a chance, where have we got by hiring and firing over the years I agree with this philosophy, however he has no track record and our play and results are dire
It's about thinking more long term, like we did when Wilder signed a 3 year contract That's the same point you've just made

what about when we were top 5 and a part of other teams hard runs? What was the excuse then for losing?
We were playing teams fighting for their lives at that point, it only counts when they are top 9

Don't forget you get points for draws also. 50 points will be plenty this year.
Very true, get them for wins as well. Problem is we are getting very few of either and nothing to suggest this will suddenly change. This means we need a point a game, which clearly should be achievable. However the last ten games have yielded 6 points or 0.6 per game. We have 30 now because we gained 17 from the first 10 matches when we still had some momentum. If you truly believe Page is going to oversee a dramatic upturn in fortune, I really worry for you.

Doncaster went down with 46 points last season, the year before Notts had 50 and went down. So 42-45 as you suggest is hugely optimistic.
To reach 51 we need another 21 points, or 7 wins. We have only managed 8 all season including the momentum from last season. With momentum we currently have and no confidence there is no way to argue we will win 8 matches just because that's what we need to do. As others have pointed out, all the mentioned teams are going to see the game with us as a chance to put a run together.
You earlier mentioned leaving him in place until the end of Feb, at which point if he went whoever took over would have no way to bring anyone in. His refusal to shoulder blame, and yesterdays later retracted comment is Johnson all over again.
