Last game of the season. A meaningless game really but it would be nice if we can finish the season on a high.
However I have a very bad feeling again.
Meaningless game? It'll probably turn out to be a play-off to decide bookies' favourites for relegation next season.

Yes, if Page is being blamed for our predicament then surely JED has to be blamed for Gills position in the league. Still think he's our saviour everyone?
After tomorrow night can we say he's kept them up too?

How could anyone resist a packed to the rafters, sun drenched Sixfields. With an electric atmosphere from the assembled hoards of hoarse voiced loyal patrons. It will be a veritable feast of sporting prowess , unsurpassed by even the highest echelons of top flight football.. You wait and see...
I can certainly say I'm looking forward to something better than the top end of the top flight, for sure. Don't want to be a harbinger of doom (I'm not sure I want to be a harbinger of anything, really) but it looks like it might rain.

In all honesty, I'm more concerned about finishing with a whimper and avoiding relegation by the skin of our teeth. It's a difficult sell to get players to join a club that finishes just above the relegation zone - and boy do we need some fresh blood.

Be nice to get over the line but I see those below us having to play Bolton, Southend, Fleetwood - all teams with a lot to play for, which wasn't the case in 2009. It would take the weirdest set of results for us to drop now.

JJ should not have been on the pitch to welly the ball away because he should have been booked for the horrendous tackle from behind two minutes earlier in the centre circle! For some reason not mentioned when fans are commenting on JJ's sending off!
We would have probably got around to discussing it - there's a pretty long list of things he didn't get right. Although I think 'give a drop ball because I'm not sure what, if anything, just happened' is definitely a new innovation that I would like other referees to try.

He knew full well the whistle had gone, do you think he would have wellied it like that if the whistle hadn't gone?
Being as though we were a man down and going in to injury time, and we'd spent the previous 10 minutes wellying everything else as far down the pitch as we could, I'd have to say yes, he probably would.

I don't have a problem with them coming on the pitch to celebrate - we did the same last season. and to be fair, most of the Blades who were sat close to me in the West Lower North were no trouble - they sat on their hands for most of the game, celebrated their goals but that's about it. But I did spot one pond-life Blade on his way from the North stand give a quite deliberate and petty slap on the face of a supporter who was just minding his own business heading for the exits. Why do that? What is the point?

It wasn't actually that bad a penalty - so a bit of credit does need to go to the save. However, if you keep putting all your penalties in the same spot then you're making it a bit more difficult for yourself.

Oxford fans don't seem as obsessed by us this season...
Nor us them. I guess as there's no league championship up for grabs and they have their Swindon rivalry to enjoy (for one season only). I think they've done well this season - they seem to have kept the continuity that comes with keeping their manager - similar to us they lost their most prominent players, but unlike us got good value for them and have reinvested the cash well.

And finally; I hope the club issue a statement very soon apologising to some of the miserable fcukers on here for not playing like Barcelona. To be fair, Keshi did get into the box yesterday and hurl himself to the floor.

Isn't spin where you keep changing your opinion to suit an agenda?
Not really. Spin is where you provide a biased interpretation of something to suit an agenda. It's got little to do with changing opinion. Your definition of spin is a good example of spin.

It must have been difficult getting any striker to come in, to be honest. All we could realistically promise them is they'd be an injury cover. Based on that I think the club have done quite well to get someone with as good a record as this.

I also usually look at the player reaction and I don't understand why they didn't make more of an appeal against it (for what its worth, that is how it should be ala rugby) It was one footed, on the ground and he won the ball. Thats 3 reasons right there why it wasn't a red card. I think you should take your claret glasses off.
I thought it a robust studs first challenge at the time and (although I was a long way away from it) thought a yellow would suffice - but having looked at the replay (thanks Frank) he does follow through with the left foot as well which makes it one of those "scissor tackles" that are trying to be stamped out. I can't honestly see this one being overturned.

I've been eagerly awaiting this sort of response. When we did the bucket collection at the Ricoh, my wife and I manned the home turnstiles. Very, very few Coventry fans put anything in those buckets, and I'd say 4 out of 5 gave us nothing but abuse. When they did donate, it was pennies. The money we collected mainly came from Cobblers fans not sure where the away end was or walking in from the car parks or where taxis had dropped them. So if you think their fans were supportive, think on. At no point in the anti-Cardoza protest was a game ever disrupted and certainly no Cobblers fans left with their kids in their arms and in tears halfway through the first half.
Well, in that case I can totally understand your response. Abuse from 80% of them does seem completely inappropriate given our situation at the time. The Coventry fans I knew/still know were all very supportive, and I don't wish ill on the club they support. But perhaps that's because they know me and weren't strangers. I'd be interested to know if other Cobblers fans on buckets that day suffered in the same way.

If anyone wanted any evidence as to why I utterly detest Coventry City, the real sworn enemy, not Posh, then it was there for all to see today. Oblivion hopefully awaits them.
I'm sorry, I can't agree. When we were on our knees their fans were more than supportive. The flares/pitch invasions weren't there to disrupt us (finally) winning a game - more so to highlight their desperate plight with their owners. I can handle a bit of poor fan behaviour and getting home 20 mins later if it means that proper football clubs have proper owners and can take their rightful position in the league without heading for oblivion.

I wonder if the covers are on, we wouldn't want a postponement now would we There's a photo on Cobblers Wall - they are very much on. No attempted skullduggery here - looks like the club want the game to go ahead.
