I believe that we are agreed that the stadium capacity is too small?
DC is unable to fund an increase himself. He has procured a loan from the council to fund a re-development which must include certain bits and pieces outside of the football stadium operation.
With what he had left to spend on the stadium, he could have put all his eggs in the one basket and spent it all on seats hoping that the on field performances attract punters to fill those additional seats.
He has obviously assessed this and made a decision to divide the stadium development between executive boxes/function rooms etc.. to encourage 365/7 days a week income with the remainder to be spent on seats.
He has made that decision and the split between the two based on where he has the best chance of revenue income. If it works and the additional income is put towards the team, the increased crowds will/should come. Then the North and South stands will be further developed to take advantage of that. He couldn't g amble on increasing the seats based on once or twice them being used each season.
As I said at the start, I believe that we are all agreed that the current capacity is too small, but decisions had to be made to enable improvement on the field of play through additional finance.
With the limited funds he has, he has made the decision, bear with him. I really hope it comes off and by the start of the 2015-16 season we are playing in a stadium with better all year round facilities and a capacity that exceeds the 12,000 that most believe will satisfy our requirement.
