The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Contracts & Curle

Agree with Barton Cobbler (above). Curle did the job of keeping us in the Football League now that contract is expiring. I can't see how any supporter now wants more of his hoof-it-and-chase it stuff. Get a young up-and-coming manager with desire and zest and knowledge of up-and-coming players in the lower leagues. It is of course faintly possible that Curle's tactics will scrape us into the playoffs in which case let him continue and see if he gets us promoted then give him his chance to prove me wrong. If he then had what it took to progress I'd be happy for him. Unlikely! I go to games now out of loyalty and to still be part of a conmunity which I value. Our hoofball is dross.

Bowen was a one-off genius who saw the potential in players and worked with it. His achievement was one of football's miracles. We were good enough to have stayed up - that number of points would normally have saved us - but things conspired against us and relegation was a sickening blow. Superb fun while it lasted.

Judge Hoskins on chances made for others, not on personal goals scored because he has a mortal fear of actually putting the ball into the net. He's generally worth his place.

Happy Christmas to all of claret persuasion. Whatever we feel in the spread of success/failure, I say let's all rejoice that we're most unlikely to get relegated. I'd have settled for that before our first ball of this season had been kicked!

Awful stuff - mind-numbing unless you know the bloke and his mates in which case there may be a tiny bit of interest. Shall I put clips of me online, eating my lunch then going to Sixfields and having a flask of hot chocolate in my seat? Don't worry - I can't be arsed!

Slightly out of whack but any idea why we observed a minutes silence for all those hero's who fought and made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom and a 60 year old Thai billionaire who crashed his chopper with Miss Thailand on board ?
I know most stadiums did the same but and although very sad he has absolutely no relevance to anyone at Teyn whatsoever
I'm proud of my family's efforts in the War and the sacrifice that they made and the game before armistice day is always a special one for me , especially with our own Mr Walter Tull
Was like, we're having a minutes silence anyway so may as well stick the Leicester guy in aswell
I sometimes feel we're losing it meaning
Anyway, it's a broader point than just a Cobblers thing , was just a thought
His age, his nationality, being a billionaire and the fact Miss Thailand was on board are all irrelevant - except what is says about you in mentioning those things. Many chairmen can be mean and unpleasant despite being rich, as we have found more than once. He was generous unlike many rich people and he believed in the wider family of the football community. The fact we're 3 divisions down and a small club is irrelevant - we are part of that wider family of the sport.

Poached by Bowen from Exeter and was a very good right full. Couldn't half tackle; used to take the penalties with a 100yd run up sprint and a 100mph struck ball.
Not always - I remember some were side-footed into the corner of goal with total precision.

On Saturday I felt Hoskins played well when forced into defensive duties. It may be worth using him there in the future because statistically he's a pile of poo in front of goal.

One of the most tactically interesting Cobblers' games I've seen for some time. After the sending off Curle got it spot on and we really should have scored another from one of the quick breaks out of our defensive formation. I really liked how the players stuck to the defensive plan and knew what they were doing and why. And for all those who complain that our fans don't make themselves heard - I thought yesterday was a prime example of how the Sixfields crowd reward effort on the field.

Urgently need some decent striker(s) and ball-winning midfielder(s). I thought our side fought well today but the difference in class was obvious.
