Just out of interest, why did Rangers have to pay a nominal fee for Windass and Crooks when they signed on pre-contracts from Accrington, but we didn't get anything when Giles Coke went to Motherwell?

if it's not announced today then I struggle to believe we'll sign him.
I REALLY hope I'm proven wrong.
Why, because a couple of people on here think he will sign today? Alexander has already said he won't be dragged into a bidding war - do you think he will reject us hoping Sc***horpe come back in for him??

If they have had a bid accepted for him then I think he'll be off to Scunny.
Genuinly don't get why people think he will pick them over us. Apart from a short loan spell there, does he have any huge alligiance to them? Can we not outbid them in terms of wages (which for most footballers is the reason for choosing one club over another)? As it stands are we not a more ambitious club? I can't think of any good reason why people are so concerned thathe will sign for Sc***horpe over us! Edit: This quote from Scunny manager Graham Alexander is all I can see and doesn't worry me at all: “I'm always hopeful,” said Alexander. “I've had a few conversations with Crooksy to be fair, and he likes everything about us, but he's got to weigh everything up. He has got other clubs that are interested in him, and we've put what we think is our best deal for him to come to us, but we have to agree it with Rangers as well. I'm hopeful, I wouldn't say I'm over-positive, but I know there is a will from all parties,” he added.

Bit conflicted about all this Crooks business. Always been impressed when I've seen him play but it seems to be very likely that he wants to play for Scunny after being there last season. Still, I guess we won't care if he comes here settles well and puts the performances in.
It will be horrible if he doesn't sign, Scunny will be crowing about how he was offered more elsewhere but signed for them etc...
Sc***horpe won't be signing him unless they have a bid accepted though will they?

Some on Twitter suggested that Kevlin had been fairly transparent this week. Said that basically its all down to Crooks now, also said two keepers been lined up, one of which will join. Then just leaves the CB and the striker.
Jeremy Casey pretty much confirmed we're not in for a striker, more likely an attacking mid or winger.

I agree. I guess the only niggling thing is if he is holding out for Sc***horpe to agree a fee.
Not sure why he'd be holding out for Sc***horpe over us. I know he had a loan spell there but surely we are now a more attractive proposition for an ambitious young footballer?

Sounds like we are just waiting for Crooks to make his decision.
Can't see any reason for him not wanting to come. As big a club as Rangers are it seems like he's not wanted there anymore, and hopefully the club have sold themselves as a soon to be Championship club who are really going places to get him here.

He didn't want to stay...unless we paid him an idiot amount of money.
Which we can now afford to do. Wonder if we'd have released him if 5USport came in before Smith left?

Just to stir up the Revell to Mansfield "rumours" this is from Mansfield's twitter account:
NEWS: Gaffer confirms that an approach to buy one of League Two's top goalscorers from last season has been rebuffed.#NoNames
So they're still after a striker.

STARTING LINE UP: Cornell, Phillips, Buchanan, Wilson (academy), Barnett, Bowditch, Taylor, McWilliams, Waters, Richards, Lobjoit
SUBS: Goff, Moloney, Hughes (academy), Smith, O'Toole, Foley, Powell, Iaciofano, Revell
Ash Taylor, Regan Poole and Yaser Kasim all trained this morning and won't feature this afternoon as they continue conditioning work
Looks like a diamond formation with Taylor wide left and McWilliams sitting back. Anyone know anything about Wilson? Expecting Lobjiot to score at least 4 today.
