I am bemused by some of the comments on McW. ‘off the pace’ . Can only assume it was based on iFollow viewing? Some of Charlton’s midfield/ front 3 was very good and can make the best of players look ordinary. At times McW drew frequent applause for his timely interceptions, passing and tackling. He was severely handled by a couple of their players. In my view whilst we were unlucky to concede an OG which ensured the Addicts went in at the break level but we were only just very marginally the better side. In the second half it was desperate defending at times. Certainly to begin with Simpson looked off the pace until his goal and that energised him - so well done Simpson! I amongst others for a good third of the 2nd half were praying for a draw. As for the Bowie ‘penalty’ incident; the goal keeper spread himself and sent Bowie sprawling- seemed an obvious 21 carat gold one to all there, incl Home support! As for the ridiculous egoist conspiracy theory that the ref didn’t give it as he realised he had made a mistake in sending off their player! Their player was a dirty little devil who constantly fouled McW and left him flat out on the pitch requiring the attention of the physio! It was a brave performance dominated by Burges saves and the much maligned McGowan whose never say die attitude ensured we got all three points. Cue sheer jubilation in the away support at the third goal in the 97th.
Good Post Evers

Sorry Evers, I stand by the statement that bringing Simpson on for a tiring Hoskins was a big mistake. Simpson is turning out to be an awful loan signing, would not be disappointed to see him return to his parent Club.
Could not agree more, hate to say but Simpson has been an awful signing.

But didn’t the club once upon a time claim that they would redevelop the ground as part of their bid to acquire the land? As I understand it this is no longer the case. I may be wrong but I’m sure I read that a clause requiring the current owners to redevelop the stand as part of the land deal has been removed and no longer applies. Can anyone confirm if this is correct or if I’ve dreamt it (entirely possible)
If correct then as I see it neither bidding party has any obligation to the club for redevelopment and IF that’s correct then how could the highest bid not be the best bid for the taxpayer…
The club only has to come out and put the fans in the picture with a guarantee that they will redevelop the ground if successful They’ve claimed that they will before on numerous occasions but the last I read this is no longer the case.
Are we really in a scenario that after an open house meeting nobody can answer this question.
If you are in the ‘doubting Thomas’ brigade you’d have to admit that it leaves grounds for concern.
Whatever side you come down on it’s my belief that a clear statement from the club stating their intentions to redevelop if successful before deciding whether to sell the club would be hugely beneficial at this time.
Excellent post Shoey

I'm not sure about win percentage but I think we look alot more solid with him and Shaun in the middle.
He was player I was most keen to resign and am glad we have.
End of season should be nice knowing we've not got key plays potentially leaving too.
Definitely

16608 in the match report on the BCFC official site, perhaps 1659 was the visiting supporters?
On the subject of attendances, the 6,989 at Stevenage today (1382 O's) was not a bad turnout at all.
I'm not surprised GPC, I would imagine Orient sold out their allocation, also this fixture came just after Stevenage's win at Villa in the FA Cup.

Not helpful! No mention of pitch inspection yesterday, left Home at 8am and just boarded the train at Horsham at a cost of £35
Bless you Horsham, that is a kick in the nuts.

I can't say in all honesty that I remember Barry Lines but that Sunderland game was the first Cobblers match I ever attended. My father (who was a massive Sunderland fan) took me along as a small boy and I have faint memories of standing on the Spion Kop with him. Of course my dad was not enamoured with the result but he always spoke highly of Barry Lines and also Joe Kinnear who he respected as a fellow Geordie as well as a creative mid fielder. Very sorry to read of Barry's death. One more link to a golden era who is no longer with us.
I think you are getting a bit mixed up, IF I remember correctly Joe Kinnear played for Tottenham. Joe Keirnan (hope Ive spelt his name correctly) played for us in that team. He was from Coatbridge in Scotland. John Kurila I think was a Geordie he also played in that team, he was the polar opposite to Joe Keirnan.

I've got a feeling he could well go late into January. There seems to be some big clubs interested in him, especially the one's struggling in the championship and those looking for promotion from Lge 1. The Middlesbrough interest (if they are) seems a tad far fetched though, as given their position in the League (with due respect to Sam) I'm sure there are better players available. It's strange for all the stick Sam has taken over the years, the fact that we're talking him linked with these clubs really goes show how much he's improved as player. Fair play to him.

So it sounds like a new LB will be joining just as our current left back returns from injury.
This must spell the end to Haynes who hasn't been great defensively.
Lintott on the other hand is one I feel sorry for. Didn't put a foot wrong when covering for McGowen and now can't make the match day squad. I know he plays on the other side, but for an 19 year old he has shown a lot of potential.
I agree, especially about Lintott.

24 games in 86/87 - 61 points, 68 goals 15/16 - 49 points, 42 goals 22/23 - 46 points, 39 goals
so we have dropped off a little since the last update. In 15/16 we were on the second of ten consecutive wins. I don't think we will have that sort of run this season. In 86/87 we had peaked by now, only 2 wins in the next 6 games but already had those 61 points in the bag!
Thanks Wadey
