Used condoms and Styrofoam floaters.
Quite the opposite or it was when I lived there. Fleetwood prom is actually not bad; mainly due to regeneration funding and donations from the Lofthouse Foundation. It's quiet, with a boating lake, pitch n putt, crown green bowling, a small pier with a chippy and amusement arcade. Similarly, the beach is clean, sandy and gently shelving. I wouldn't necessarily want to swallow a mouthful of the sea water but then that could be said for many UK beaches. The beach gets wider and better as you venture towards Rossall and further on towards Cleveleys. Fleetwood like any town has its less affluent areas and the main town centre is pretty dire (from a retail perspective) but theres no areas I'd describe as no-go, Blackpool is far worse

Never said spend big, said bring some players in. There's the loan market, non-league gems and non-contracted players. Richard Hill, Trevor Morley, Rambo Reed, David Gilbert, Eddie McGoldrick, etc, hardly cost the earth.
All found, put together and developed by Carr over a period of time considerably longer than the January window. You're really not at your best tonight are you fella. You've shot both feet now, what's next?

You're spot on but these happy clappers just look at the table. Never mind the quality, look at the result.
Cmon Marvo, you can't have it all ways. For someone who extols the absolute virtues and value of statistics, you want to disregard the value of the league table which is undeniably and irrefutably THE ultimate representation of where any team sits in relation to it's divisional peers... It's the ONLY collection of statistics that matters Your comment does nothing but shoot yourself in the foot...

I'd be amazed if we can't maintain current attendance levels. And far more chance of doing that with even only a moderately successful L1 side than anything in league 2
I don't think the likes of Harrogate, Barrow, etc. Do much to swell the coffers

If you take all the concrete factual evidence around you, primarily that it takes significant investment to get out of this division, then the reality is that becoming a solid, middle of the road L1 side is the best we can achieve. We are not, never have been and sadly never may be as big as Portsmouth, Derby and Bolton. And whilst it may hurt, based on historical average league position (Marvo, correct me if I'm wrong) we're not as successful as The Pish either, certainly not in recent history anyway.
That's not to say we can't have that one season... Burton did it and there's doubtless other examples too.
But for that to happen, one of two things, or both, need to happen. We either need a sugar daddy to pump millions into the club or a manager needs to get "lucky" and build that inexplicable, perfect machine that magically gels and defies the odds.
The chances of either of these things happening are less likely than the reality that this summer Brady will be doing his best to fills the holes left by some decent loanees and build a squad that keeps us exactly where we are now.... 10th, 11th or thereabouts.
Saying all this doesn't make me unambitious, miserable, grumpy or defeatist. If we go the next 5 seasons middle of L1 that for us is a relative success. And every year we stay in this division means another summer where we can dream of it being "that one season".
I would take that over being a yo-yo club between L2 and L1 every day of the week and twice on a Sunday. Yes, promotions are great, but relegations aren't. Losing is horrible and I'd rather be average in L1 than rubbish, then maybe great in L2.

There will be a time for Dadge, Dyche and co but it's not next week or against any of the other sides challenging for promotion. It would be hugely hypocritical of us to field what could be classed as a weakened team.

Just checked, Taylor played 33 times in L1. Kirk and McGleish in the same squad. And what would Brady give for a back five of Pedj, Crowe, Chambers, Doig and Holt? And Harper in nets!
This was the Gorman team. Shame that era never saw itself out properly.

On reflection, you might be right. I've just looked at Kevin Wilson team in 2001/2. Minimum league Appearances 23 1) Keith Welch 2) John Frain 3) Richard Green 4) Ian Sampson 5) Chris Hope 6) Dave Savage 7) Chris Hargreaves James Hunt 9) Jamie Forrester 10) Marco Gabbiadini 11) John Hodge 12) Steve Howard That was some team. Leonard would get in it but I'm not sure any of our other current players would. Yep it was. We've had some decent players in recent years.... Granted a lot at the wrong end of their careers, but The likes of Ian Taylor, Eoin Jess, Sean Dyche, even Matty Taylor.... All quality when their legs allowed. Sadly for Brady, his version is Hylton, a player who whilst now will always be tainted from our perspective, had heremained fit, could just have easily been revered in the same way as some of the aforementioned. Unless he was signed crocked (which would be unforgivable and a black mark for Brady) you could argue we and Brady have been a tad unlucky.

We put a bad performance in at the wrong place and time. They by all accounts were very good. They were probably due a good one and are generally one of those sides that can put that type of performance in. They're consistently around the playoff and promotion places and have fairly recently been in the Championship. As have Derby, Pompey, Bolton..... All these sides have a decent sprinkling of the type of quality we could only wish for.
I still stand by the statement that not once this season has Brady been able to put out his absolute 1st choice team, and certainly he's struggled to even field a fully fit team for the most part. So really, things aren't so bad.
Rather than slash my wrists after a pumping, I'll view the season so far as a whole, it's better for my sanity
