So the 100 people who read this thread may have seen it, but the other 4,600 there today would have had no clue.
Just read this thread........didn't know about the minutes applause or what the green ribbons were for, until I asked someone so count me and my mates in on the 4,600. I will def join in this Saturday and buy a ribbon if I see anyone selling them.

Stepping over a small snowdrift to get to the NE toilets at Sixfields when we played Oxford in 2013. Despite it being late March and having supported Cobblers for donkeys, I couldn't ever remember a game when it snowed from start to finish.
Breaking my own seat at in a fit of temper in the early years at Sixfields. Can't remember why, we probably shipped a last minute goal or something.
My mate, one freezing cold day at the CG, 'treating' himself to a hot soup only to find a lump of ice in it.
Breaking my seat in a fit of temper when we shipped a time added on goal at Nene Park. After the game I was in a local pub talking to a Diamonds supporting mate of mine who had sat fairly close to the away end. He said he'd never seen such an angry aggressive away crowd and cited one particular fellow in a black cap jumping up and down on his seat going mad. Yeah, that was me I said! Lol
Someone from the North stand shouting to Stan Collymore (after he had been in the papers for allegedly hitting his wife) WHO YOU GONNA HIT NEXT COLLEYMORE only for him to turn to the stand and mouth -your missus!
Breaking my seat at Bradford...… (I'm not coming out of this very well am I....it's misplaced passion, honest guv!)
A Bournemouth player belting the ball into the upper west, only for a Cobblers fan to return it quickly and with a perfect aim to our player waiting to take the throw in which he did quickly and we scored to win 2-1. Atkins even thanked the mystery fan.
Spending the weekend in Blackpool for a Northern Soul Weekender to coincide with the end of last season's away fixture at Oldham. In a pub and a DJ with a northern accent played a particularly great set. I went up to him after to congratulate him afterwards and in our ensuing conversation I mentioned I was from Northamptonshire and at that he shows me his fist on which he has NTFC tattooed on his fingers!!

Great away day. 😊 I was up in Blackpool for a Northern soul Weekender and one dj played a set particularly to my liking so after he had finished I thought I would complement him. Got chatting, said I was going to the Oldham Cobblers fixture and suddenly he waves his fist in my face and.......he has NTFC tattooed on his fingers.😁✊

Giving this thread a bit of thought - then it is possible that BoN may have a point. After the Referendum there was arise in anti-social behaviour particularly against Muslims. However that has not as yet gathered any meaningful momentum. The one positive factor emerging from this disharmony is that the young under 17's appear far more tolerant of the Ethnic Society than earlier generations. In the 1st WW anybody with a German name often came under attack, even internment.
Interesting that you attribute 'the rise in anti social behaviour against Muslims' to Brexit and not as a reaction to the various terrorists outrages in this country and continental Europe at about the same time.

The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: cobblers fan how long.

The long answer to the question; I didnt realize it at the time but I was being groomed as a Cobblers fan all through my early childhood in the 1960's. Not being interested in football I'd endure the football and rugby results while waiting for a very new and exciting programme to come on after Grandstand called 'Dr Who'. I noted that Northampton got two mentions, once for the football results and once in the very long list of club Rugby results (whatever happened to Moseley?) Despite my best friend being football mad, I never took an interest until the 68 FA cup final, Everton V West Brom. It really irks me that as a proper football fan these days that my only memory of 66 was World cup Willie and Pickles the dog. Northampton's season in the sun passed me by completely except that their name was read out on Grandstand a bit sooner than it had been the previous seasons. However, after for rooting for Everton to win the cup I found myself looking for their resuts the following season and thus became emotionally involed in 'supporting' a team. My best mate's dad was a Cobblers season ticket holder and as we were inseperable and I had a active interest in football, was taken up to the County Ground. I'm pretty sure the first match I saw ended 0-0 but I cant find a matching fixture so will go with a game I actually remember, 26th Feb 1972 in a 2-3 loss to Lincoln. I really don't remember too much about other games until 'The battle of Abingdon Park' fixture. What was the score that day? lol. Not that I partook but we had a good view of proceedings as we waited for our bus on the Welly road opposite the park. I was on and off depending on money uni ect until 1991 when I became a regular and have had the same seat at Sixfields since we moved there. Short answer to the question; Too long!

Whenever I read a 'new manager' thread I always attibute the various responses to those of characters from Animal Farm. Me, I'm Benjamin. Benjamin - The long-lived donkey who refuses to feel inspired by the Rebellion. Benjamin firmly believes that life will remain unpleasant no matter who is in charge.

I don't think there will be much sympathy for NTFC from the wider populace if the perception is that the club that apparently NBC wasted 10 million of it's taxpayers money on is now trying to get land for free when the council is bust.
That's how those who don't know the detail will see it.

What a game that was! My first ever away game was v Rotherham at the old Millmoor in the early 70's and after going 0-1, Cobblers lost 2-1. Cobblers never beat Rotherham in the intervening years either, until that night. The link says 1,000 supporters there, I'm sure it was closer to 2k. When we scored the winner, I crunched my leg just below the kneecap on a metal projection that formed part of the seating. I limped back to the car and the next day my leg went black down to my foot!! It was worth it and that game was so much better than the Man U anti climax.

The time Fulham came to Sixfields with Kevin Keegan in charge and a star studded line up expecting to steam roll the Cobblers, except we went 1-0 up with one of our few attacks and defended like tigers for the rest of the game in front of a full away end and feisty home support. Them's the sort of games I love. A very similar (night) game against PNE at the CG, except we won 2-0 in the early 80's when we were bottom and they were pushing for promotion.

Watching the highlights of Norwich V Leeds....the Norwich equalizer got a deflection, looped high in the air, hit both posts before going in. Just a fraction of that kind of luck against Walsall could have seen us with something to play for v Oldham but it was not to be and to be honest, if any team deserves to go down it's us having been gutless for large chunks of the season. Rochdale may feel pretty hard done by if they go down. History tells us that we would have got relegated next season in any case and I couldn't see anything since we have been in L1 that would have changed our 3 seasons max in the 3rd tier. I'm over the dissapointment now and looking forward to chalking off new grounds next season. UTC!

**** me, If you lot had your scoring heads on you could have been 3-0 up inside the first 10 mins, you had a right go from the off
Top marks to those that traveled, very loud for most of the first half and I thought your team responded well to your encouragement from the stands.
In fact despite our two goals I thought you shared the spoils first half.
Second half was a non entity really until your lad got sent off for allowing our fellar to stand on the ball and fall over, ref was shocking. Imo it showed great character for the ten left to roll up their sleeves and again have another go
Cya in a couple of years when we come down to say " fancy a drink? yes please mines a double " yet again
We'll be 'keeping the faith'.
