Lloyd Jones has now left the building, he will not figure in the play off games.....he will also not play for Luton again. Quite a few teams in for him including Plymouth but a couple of foreign teams have offered contracts to him also (one team if I told you, you would be shocked at, considering their stature in the world game).
If the other defenders are fully fit then I think that's not such a big loss. It would be good if the Arsenal midfielder was available though...

I suspect that there will be a marked downward pressure on wages across L2 this summer (and possibly L1 / Championship too), so this will make for an interesting window.

You state 'additional income will be zero' but are Sky televising all the play-off games?
Therefore they will pay the teams as per the contract?
That is true, I had not thought of the TV element, which would be a small contribution to the coffers.

I think KT has been pretty clear in the interviews this week that it's going to be quite a significant cost overhead for the Cobblers to be involved in the play offs given additional income will be zero.
However I suppose the financial rewards of playing in L1 next year would outweigh these overheads if achieved.

We would not have had a chance in the 2nd leg had Ashley Westwood not sacrificed his chance of playing in that game by fouling Larkin when he'd almost certainly have made it 0-3 in the first leg.

https://www.ntfccommunity.co.uk/?fbclid=IwAR1d78r2oLMZ_1LxFZHUQ3Dj4OG1f4URwv4VQDQyNAhCkG8S7WUt_Z3JHCkThe Northampton Town FC Community Trust has been made aware through social media about donations to be received from the sale of facemasks by the Supporters Trust.
Unfortunately this endeavour has been done without any prior knowledge or approval from ourselves and therefore we will not be accepting any donations from this.
Whilst we are grateful of any donations we receive generally, we have to protect our reputation and we have no knowledge or information that these facemasks are of an acceptable standard.
Please understand that the Northampton Town FC Community Trust does not approve or accept any liability for these masks, and will receive no funding from the sale.

There are huge opportunities and positives which can come out of this pandemic for the game and society in general, if we choose to grasp them.
In football, the introduction of formal salary caps, reductions in wages and hopefully a much more sustainable operating model will arise. There will be casualties but hopefully the game as a whole will undergo a major 'reset' become much less of a boom & bust place.
Outside football, 5 day p/w office based work could largely become a thing of the past with the associated reduction in commuter traffic by road and rail.
So many opportunities!

It will be years before a vaccine emerges. People taking about one in January are on a different planet.
There is no SARS vaccine for example and that outbreak happened in 2002/2004.
The key is to keep the R below 1 for long enough that the virus runs out of healthy hosts and withers away.
This is why countries who locked down hard and early did better, and now have near-zero local transmission with only new cases coming from abroad.

In my view it's absolutely inconceivable to discuss something as (largely) irrelevant as football returning at present.
I think France is much more on a realistic page by voiding the season and come back in Aug/Sept if it's safe to do so.

The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Poll - taking a Season Ticket refund?
|
on: March 16, 2020, 11:28:27 am

Some people on social media have been discussing what they might do if the 2019/20 season is totally cancelled in respect of season ticket refunds.
So I thought I would make a quick poll.
If the season is totally scrapped and no more fixtures are allowed to be carried out, would you be requesting a refund on your season ticket for the 4 home games which did not take place?
