101  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: "Things shouted out by the knob head who sits behind/next/near me". on: September 05, 2018, 13:10:48 pm
For the past several years I've sat (actually stood) on the back row of the North with the rest of tbe great unwashed, ........
Blame Austin then?  Grin

Last night I sat in Row N seat 131 so not so far from the guy bellowing ‘fwd’ which appeared to come from centre of West Stand mid position say row R ? Does this help in indentifying the ‘culprit’?

First half was poor and WW looked a decent side. Be interesting to see how many of their first team played. We were very disjointed first half, but for Ward who was impressive would have been 0-2.
For me Ward only real success but Powell had an effective 2nd half and at times they could not handle him. Water also better as the play and standard thereof much improved 2nd half. Williams S withdrawn 2nd half but acquitted himself well. JJOT flitted in out of game. Williams (A) was very poor did not put dhimself about all game, never in the right place at the right time. Bowditch should have equalised towards the end his weak effort cleared off the line! The first half was poor with most players going awol. Dolphin had a shocker but did ok 2nd half. In his game summary DA was criticiicall of whole team first half and expressed disappointment with senior players contribution. Bowditch JJOT and Williams(A) had ineffective games. Barnett and Turnbull ok and tried 2nd half. S.Williams doesn’t look fit and JJOT half the player he was. Ward did well but lacks a bit of presence for a 6’ 5” player. Seems ok as a standin for Cornell. You do worry about the form/attitude of some players and Chelts won’t be easy and probably fancy a point at least on Saturday. On the other hand our results match SU 2017 so that is a little comfort.

I haven't got any friends to go with. Can I sit next to you if I come along?

Bad luck on Friends; with my two sons and two b-in-l tonight but of course you are welcome!
Relax and go with the flo’!

I bet you like Dick and Dom?

I dont like Children TV/Film entertainers either; of whom Dick and Dom are prominent in. Why chuck a barb like that - poor show on yr part. Still think you ought to go for a £5.00 if only to weigh up Ward etc.
106  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Dean Austin on: September 04, 2018, 12:55:24 pm
I do think we lack leaders in this team, we have some good players but a shortage of leaders. I think Taylor and Buchs are very similar in that they are quick to blame others for their mistakes on occasion. I am not sure who would be the best choice of captain, but in my opinion neither Taylor or Buchs fit the bill. That said, I thought Taylor, apart from the **** up for the goal Saturday, had a much better game as did Buchs, though Buchs wasn't up against a nippy winger which helped his game.
Foley may make a good captain given a good run in the team, as I think will McWilliams with a bit more experience.

You have answer above from Deepcut - van Veen! I can see him now pointing fingers and scowling at the defence, even cajoling them. Elect him now.
107  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Wycombe Wanderers (H) Checkatrade 4/9 on: September 04, 2018, 12:49:29 pm
There is a difference between this and away games. If I could go to away games at the moment I would, this on the other hand I would not. I am sorry that my lighthearted attempt  at cheering a few people (who appear to need it) went where a lot of other things do. I will let you guess where Smiley

PS: I like Matthews waistcoats, do you?

I dont particularly appreciate the Guy or similar show biz personalities. That includes yr favourite Cliff R but like the Rolling Stones and Eddie Cochran.   Tickets tonight are only a £5 - surely that is better value than MK? Bring a friend to bump the attendance up!
108  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Wycombe Wanderers (H) Checkatrade 4/9 on: September 04, 2018, 12:41:44 pm
So its £5 to go but £10 on ifollow? Christ.

Fell about laughing at that!
109  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Wycombe Wanderers (H) Checkatrade 4/9 on: September 04, 2018, 12:40:15 pm
£5 for an evenings entertainment is good value, especially when I intend to use the back of the seat for a change!!

Crikey thats good value. I trust you are saying that is the price to watch the game not Matthew Kelly. Wink Cool

110  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Wycombe Wanderers (H) Checkatrade 4/9 on: September 04, 2018, 08:17:45 am
Don’t get all this negativity. Chance of winning League cup none, chance of winning FA Cup none. This cup does offer us a chance. Apparently winning can become a habit so let’s start winning!

I find it quite remarkable that some who wish to ignore the game write huge posts to justify not going!
111  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Wycombe Wanderers (H) Checkatrade 4/9 on: September 03, 2018, 22:10:21 pm
Well it was a choice between attending this match or watching VHS quality recordings on YouTube of Stars in their eyes hosted by Matthew Kelly.

Easy Choice....Hello Matthew.

Won’t ask you why but suggest it is strange comment to make when you can easily record said concert. You would do better just to say ‘not going’ as you did for away games!
112  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Tranmere Rovers (h) on: September 02, 2018, 23:05:22 pm
Yes, he is being a misery but I don't see how it's any of yours, mine or anyone else's business why.

Just being a tad concerned for a poster who is generally good for a read - sorry Wolvo wont happen again.
113  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Disappearing Punters? on: September 02, 2018, 20:54:14 pm
You can add to this..
4/Price (£24) of watching 4th division football against many traditional small non league teams, doesn't make us an attractive option.
5/ The quality and professional outlook of the stadium, being non league looking does little to attract new and lapsed supporters which affects the big match atmosphere that attract fans, also lacking a large welcoming supporters bar selling food and beverages etc is something needed for cold tuesday night's.
6/ Lack of direction from the clubs owners these past 3 years, we have no future plans in which our support base can engage and get involved with,
thus giving fans an excuse not to turn up, if they dont give a **** why should l..
Basically as we have been these last 50 years😂

I bet you were at the Sack and Fall of Constantinople in 1453 - as a prophet of doom of course.
114  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Tranmere Rovers (h) on: September 02, 2018, 20:50:14 pm
Spot on. We dominate teams without creating many clear cut chances. We waste possession so much in the final 3rd it's painful to watch.

You were more positive last season than you are now! In fact you seem to post negative comments at will; you had a fine record of commendable comments/opinions on here. Has there been a change in your life style which has inadvertently infliuenced how you generally react to (any) events? Toothache, Women ?

Problem is, away fans don't realise the mercurial Sammy Hoskins misses for fun every week!  Grin

Quite true - he did actually score tho' which was harshly ruled off side! Interesting for the experts to comment on this - not North Stand as it probably is too difficult to judge.
117  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Tranmere Rovers (h) on: September 02, 2018, 10:10:17 am
cant convert the chances and concede goals every game. we look a mid to lower league div 2 side.

That’s daft!

That you worship at the ornery altar and struggle with quite and quiet.

Behave yourself Eddie
119  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Tranmere Rovers (h) on: September 01, 2018, 19:08:16 pm
Can not agree there. Hoskins was decent in the first but was excellent in the second half IMO. Was it offside for the goal he had disallowed?

Crooks had a poor first hour, made countless bad passes gifting them possession and this prevented the team getting any real rhythm in the first half. He played a lot better in the last 20-30 minutes though.

VV had a quiet game but didn't get the right service, ditto Morias for the first 45.

The rest of the team played well:

Cornell:Hhad a very good game (there you go Evers!), was more dominant in his area, made good decisions throughout, and made an important save in the first. Only minor criticism was he kept hitting his kicks towards Hoskins who was playing against a giant at LB who promptly won the majority of the aerial duels, with both Taylor and Pierre telling him to try and not kick it in that area for this reason. However he made a great kick to Hoskins to launch a dangerous attack in the second.
Facey: Very good and assured match.
Pierre: Pretty dominant in the air, think he's growing into the season.
Taylor: Did well but still prone to try a worldie pass which often doesn't come off.
Buchanan: Much improved performance.
Foley: Excellent match, great work-rate, won possession numerous times, intelligent use of the ball. Deserved MOM.
Bridge: Very good, looks to be strong on the ball, good work-rate. On the basis of today he feels like a new signing.
Hoskins: Good in the first against their giant of a LB, excellent in the second. Took his disallowed goal well, forced another save later in the second, had the beating of the LB after the break and put in numerous dangerous balls. My MOM after Foley.
Crooks: Had a poor first half. Terrible pass in the first almost led to them scoring and this seemed to knock his confidence and he struggled to do anything right. Played well in the last 20-30 minutes. An off day unfortunately.
Morias: Was kept quiet in the first half, too many high balls into him and he struggled to win any. Great composure for his goal and this gave him a lift and he suddenly looked dangerous. Gutted about his having to go off, hopefully he won't be out for too long.
VV: Quiet game today, though still showed flashes of class.

Waters: Looked lively and dangerous, think he can have a good season and get more game-time.
O'Toole: Did well though obviously needs game time. Made a couple of great tackles towards the end. A match-fit JJ will be massive for us this season.

Austin: Picked the right team and IMO got his subs right. I could understand why he didn't bring on Williams also as it was hard to see who to sub.

Should have been a win, but again I saw a lot to be enthused about this afternoon and feel as confident than ever it will come good this season.

Decent report and refreshingly short on bias. Mind you Cornell should have saved their goal Wink

But true evers, but true!  Wink

Why dont you adopt a well known song and merely compose the words - not one of your ever so peculiar songs if you call them music.
