The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Redevelopment Closer Than Ever?

Everbrite - I wasn't there last night because I live 70+ miles away from Northampton and, in any event, it was broadcast live on Facebook. Many thanks to the club for this.
I commented this morning that I was disappointed with what KT said or, more to the point, did not say about the redevelopment. That remains the case. As a few others have commented KT keeps his cards close to his chest and doesn't like to tell us too much. To borrow his words, he prefers to under-promise and over deliver. I hope so but what was behind my disappointment was the continuing lack of information about what the Chinese investment means for the club. KT talks about the education benefits. That is fine and potentially exciting for the town but I struggle to see how this may benefit NTFC. The Mail on Sunday article stated that the Chinese had invested £6 million. I have no means of knowing if this is fact or fiction but add to that the £4 million KT has said is available for the East Stand and frankly I expected a more ambitious redevelopment statement than the same as before one KT delivered last night. Not unreasonable I think on the eve of a new season with a new team assembled.
I do not wish to come across as being too critical of KT. There is no comparison between him and the hapless Big Dave Cardoza. In the period in which KT has been in control of the club there have been many improvements and every improvement helps. But let's face it these improvements are relatively small however welcome they may be. With the Chinese investment the playing budget has increased and that should make us a competitive force in League 1. If we progress on the pitch as well as I expect we are in danger of losing out on income with a ground which is patently inadequate for a higher level of football. Nothing is ever guaranteed in football but planning for a better, bigger future should be part of the NTFC plan.

Il talk to you in person instead sometime this season now I know who you are. Either that or il catch up with you at one of the car shows later in the season. It'll be good to put my thoughts across to you tony.
Your better off talking to KT.

My point is"build it and they will come"
(If the finances are viable!)
But they wont unless the team starts to do well. Attendances will generally increase if the team is winning and moving up the leagues. By the time we moved to Sixfields the CG attendance had fallen to circa 3000! In the good times we did sell out at the CG many times but even now only rarely at Sixfields. Likewise attendances rose at Sixfields when the team started to do well. You based your point on shaky ground - at the meeting last night KT's opinion was that building a 15k capacity was currently not a practical proposition just yet.And would the punters come to watch a mediocre side because the ground was bigger and better. He didn't share that (or your) view that they would do so. Most of us agreed with him.

But this simply isn't a FACT, is it? Putting aside that any stadium growth will cost big bucks - and it is this FACT(!) prevents it happening (or having happened). Nevertheless, if someone rocked up and threw funds at the club for the specific purpose of the build (yeah, I know, this ain't going to happen), then the club would commission work in a heartbeat. This is a FACT. To say there is no need for higher capacity is a flawed argument. Do you think the Saints would have risen to the heights they have, and achieved the things they have, if they were still playing in the s***hole that was the original Gardens? Also, larger capacity allows for larger away followings, and for fans to walk up on the day, both of these things are FACT. So, yes, the cost of expansion may be prohibitive, but I wish people would dispense with the shortsighted (and failed) logic that a ground capable of holding 10/12,000 would be pointless.
By this post you appear to have clearly lost the plot. Money is not the problem; the legalities are. Pretty sure you don't know what a fact is. Incidentally a capacity of 10k was not ruled out last night.

How do you know they didn't submit questions via the Trust's reps? You don't. So stop being a donut.
They didn't. However those that didn't submit queries are generally the ones who make great noises on here about the Redev; then they fail to attend and miss the opportunity to put questions to KT. So stop being a donut.

What are you waffling on about. It was a **** night weather wise,a 45 min drive for me and it was covered live meaning I could watch it anyway! Considering we had the brainstank of this forum in attendance we now know where 5usports money has come from, how much they paid into the club coffers, when the east stand will get back on track, what it will look like, when we will have a decent away end capable of holding a couple of thousand fans and whether as a club we are in any position to sustain championship football if we get promoted. My only regret is not finding out if the dugouts have new seats. It doesn't matter who is in charge of these forums
You will only hear what the club want you to hear It is a PR exercise and that's the end of it. I thought the best question raised via this forum was the one regards contractual issues on the land behind the east stand and who actually owns it.
A tricky question that one so it was no surprise it wasn't snswered and we are no nearer finding out.
What are you waffling on about. Your You are just making excuses why you didn't attend - the guy I sat next to came from Banbury so he made the effort. For somebody so forthright in your comments on the Redev the least you could have done is challenged KT in person.

Saying we don't need additional capacity because we rarely sell out is true...however, we didn't sell out the county ground, but when we moved to a 'better' ground our average attendances rose. The same would happen now if we had more capacity and better facilities. I don't know if the maths would make this a viable commercial opportunity or not. What would MKs average home attendance be if they were playing in a sixfields style stadium? I bet it would be a lot less than now.
Having said that, I personally would rather watch a championship/top end league 1 team in a cr@p ground than a struggling L1/L2 team in a fantastic stadium!
Comparing with the CG is a bit daft. Even with 10k it felt full. With 15k it was sardine time. 18k and above was shoehorn time!

A goalkeeper sorting contractual issues? This can only mean Mark Bunn will 100% be making his homecoming....
But in all seriousness, he basically said Coddington is our complete backup option which is a positive. I'd expect someone more senior to arrive given the anticipated quality of the other signings.
Not quite, Coddington's lack of league experience rules him out. Clearly liked the player tho'.

Those that failed to attend last night missed the opportunity to express their views. It as Deepdale says a gutless decision. Beds is a nutter and Shoey , tcobb,Vintage etc all should have attended. Now they have no platform to justify their criticisms. Their ability to make critical points out of their interpretation of the meeting is astonishing.

What you are saying may have some truth and/or relevance, if the context of KT's presentation is as you perceive it, although you will not know that because you were not there. However by not taking up the opportunity to pose your own questions and/or open up a discussion at last nights or any other appropriate meeting and then posting that criticism from behind your keyboard reveals more about the cards that you are holding. I have never met you but I imagine you as a spineless, cowardly little man sniping from behind your monitor on a keyboard to an agenda that has provided, thus far, nothing of positive benefit and who would melt like a summer snowman at the first sign of a face to face confrontation.
Phew that's pretty hard hitting !
