Unless tonight was a reversion to the more direct style and you've been watching something else this season i wouldn't say we've become less direct. It's all about balance I guess...........

"It's all about balance I guess"  - agree with you there. However I do feel at times we are a bit tappy tappy which seems at odds with the team. But as you say "its the balance" which clearly we haven't got.
10882  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Rochdale on: October 22, 2013, 23:09:12 pm
Just back from Spotlands, totally gutted.

However.....

For 65-70 minutes this was actually a pretty good performance, I'd go as far as say as very good and completely the opposite of the turgid negativity I saw half a dozen times last year.

Thanks Rambo for pretty good report - at least it was not doom and despair as seen on here by those not there. If only...................... Cry

10884  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Rochdale on: October 22, 2013, 22:52:16 pm
The mistake was withdrawing the contract to Cameron then the issue being compounded by Langers injury.

.............Know its hindsight but Cameron has not exactly helped out Bury this season!!
10885  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Be careful what you wish for on: October 22, 2013, 22:42:49 pm
To be fair I don't think that is why we have changed. That was all geared around one man in particular whose name shall not be mentioned.

Well your blind most successful Cobbler's side in the past have been strong defensively and very very direct. We have nether been a fancy dan side; not even in Carr's time. To get out of this mess we should revert to type and play the style traditionally associated with this club. I for one think Tyler is totally correct. With or without AB Shocked
10886  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Out of contract strikers... on: October 22, 2013, 22:34:01 pm
Because no-one knows who's really coming, and people are just making up names from the top of their heads.

after the last three games -  maybe it is the defence and midfield which need sorting out...............again Roll Eyes
10887  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Rochdale on: October 22, 2013, 22:21:27 pm
Snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

With all the talk of the striker we so desperately need, our defensive frailties have been somewhat overlooked. We had one of the best defences in the division last year; we now appear to have one of the worst.

Reid and Doumbe clearly aren't fit to last 90 minutes.

............we first have to wait for opinions of those who were there. But listening to the commentators the last two goals against us appeared to be  preventable; particularly the winner! The depressing thing of course is whilst we lack a goal scorer (maybe Huh?) the old defensive/midfield frailties are rearing up again. The future is beginning to look a little bleak now; perhaps those criticisms of AB (by the happy moaners) in failing to replace CC, Langmead  etc are a bit more convincing now. What with the on going striker saga and now a faltering defence it is becoming very difficult to pin down which area of the team to strengthen Roll Eyes

I thought Morris played really well?  Huh?

well he scored Roll Eyes
10893  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: If it goes wrong tomorrow... on: October 20, 2013, 17:37:43 pm
Erm, Morris was crap apart from the goal and Carter was good, also he is nothing like Paul Trollope. Apart from that though, spot on.

10894  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Luke Norris on: October 20, 2013, 17:33:34 pm
It could be Dean Bowditch.  Out injured all season and set for a comeback.

Haven't we tried Bowditch before on loan without much success!

Thought the standard was pretty terrible but Hines stood out.

Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh??
10896  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Dag & Red (h) - 19th Oct on: October 19, 2013, 19:24:00 pm
It is... Boothroyd is not and should not be off the hook. 9 points out of 36 and second from bottom is a joke. Whilst I thought we played better, he's far from solved our issues.

..............midfield for a start - didn't quite understand Demon coming on in midfield - he looked a bit lost!
10897  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: If it goes wrong tomorrow... on: October 19, 2013, 19:19:41 pm
That's a little harsh. Whilst I agree that those present can offer a blow by blow account and can say whether we were unlucky (or lucky!) anyone can read a league table and see the deficiencies in the squad. You don't have to be there to see that W2 D3 L7 is not good enough and suggests major problems.

Actually the Marquis is correct; certainly those who saw the game have a tad more credibility Roll Eyes in their opinion Wink

I understand how you're feeling, I honestly do! We are all feeling down and ****ed off with how things are going. BUT, this is not the time to turn on the players! Confidence is low because of the results we are getting, and if anything we need to raise the roof at Sixfields and try to be that 'twelfth man.'
Boothroyd has made some serious errors with his (lack of quality) recruitment policy, and without any doubt he knows it. Injuries aren't helping either. So long as he learns from his mistakes then he is still our best option to turn things around and get us promoted out of this **** league.

Let's make some noise and claim three much needed points! Wink

welcome to the Happy Clappers Club Grin

Q: Do you miss Bayo?

A: I loved working with him, but he was a handful. He used to say he was about to get on the bike, but when you went over to his car it was full of KFC buckets. On 30-year-old knees carrying that bulk, I have to make a decision(Speaking as someone who walks his dogs past Sixfields every single day, I have seen plenty of the players, including Bayo, but never once did I see Bayo stuffing his face with KFC. In fact the only Cobbler regularly haunting KFC was Lee Nicholls). At the start, he was getting his goals in open play. Towards the end it was set pieces, which was made by the space Clarke Carlisle and Clive Platt were allowing him(Really?). I want us this year to be more flexible. But do I miss the effect that he has on the crowd. There is a massive hangover from last year at Wembley. The performance was shocking(No ****, Sherlock), and it hurt. I felt sorry for myself (Not the fans then, aye?). But when things turn around, youíll have a nicer team to watch.

Q: Do we have enough goals in the team?

A: Roy OíDonovan is not firing at the moment, and Clive is more of a facilitator, a maker of goals. I said at the end of last season they were unplayable (And therein lays the problem. Neither have the stats to support being 'unplayable' at any level). Unfortunately for us this year, they ARE unplayable because one is injured and the other isnít firing. We create enough chances, but we arenít finishing them. I do have to address that, and Jacob Blyth will be coming back here. But these things will all click eventually(Not with Platt and O'Donovan it won't), but at the moment Iím tearing my hair out.

Your so cynical that it must be a real effort for you to even cross the road -  Smiley

Voting for a captain seems to me altogether wrong. A manager should appoint a captain. Another ADB mistake. Mounting up aren't they?

Give it a rest Mate - we all know where you stand on the Manager Roll Eyes
