I didn't go but found this after a search. Does anybody know the lineup

Woodford United 2 Northampton Town Xl 1

A youth led Northampton side visited Byfield Road on this warm July evening as both sides ploughed on with the busy pre season schedules. The pitch looked a little way from top condition, and along with the "linesmans lines" also maybe needing attention before the season proper gets underway.

Woodford took an early lead, and really could have added 4 or 5 to the tally in the first half hour with total domination,as Northampton took some while to find their feet.Indeed,it was almost 35 minutes on the clock, before the young Cobblers, not from want of trying mind, found the home 18 yard area. The first half was brought to an early close, following a nasty looking head injury to a Woodford player.

The home side returned to the changing rooms, while the vistors recieved a team talk on the pitch. This talk must have worked,as they took control totally of the second period from almost the re start.Time and again,Northampton built and attacked the home goal, playing some really nice football.Woodford offered little, except for 2 or 3 attempts to extend their lead.

With around 10 minutes left, the goal of the game, and very well deserved was scored by the Young Cobblers, with a superb strike from around 25 yards out.Try as they could,Northampton could not manage what would have been a well deserved equaliser and the final whistle blew, with victory going to the hosts.

A real game of two halfs, enjoyable, and only spoilt by the constant dusk nibbling of my arms and other places by various winged creatures of unknown identity.

Gibbo.  No idea if you have or not.

Yep - and also with Terry. Badges of honour really.
10883  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Rubbish on: July 30, 2011, 22:00:06 pm
Westwood did well in the 15 minutes he had today, could be the experienced head we need and will only be back up. Also is playing for free so no harm.

Having read the dire opinions on here regarding current performances I thought the Cobbs did ok today - Youngs was good as was Bayo. I was only there for the 2nd Half but defence was hardly over stretched. Goalie had an easy time.

so Walker ok , Youngs good, Nana good,  Tozet more than good, Turnbull good, Robinson ok but light weight, Aaron whats is name - was he playing?
Webster good,  Westwood - lost a lot of weight but did ok, Jacobs Vgood, Mckoy - well he scored!

Whats the worry then?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?
10884  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: The Wycombe 'it's all about fitness' preseason thriller thread. on: July 30, 2011, 21:17:55 pm

10887  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Dunn in talks with a championship club. on: May 14, 2011, 23:05:27 pm

Championship...I'm just not having it

Some of the comments aimed at Dunn are pretty mindless. Every Goalie has a few gaffs take Gomes for example. Would you sign him?? Dunn is a goalie who improved this season - and I cannot remember that many L2 keepers being better. I thought the Brighton and also Liverpool Keeper's were not up to much either.
I hope GJ offers him a contract and that he(or both) do not read this message board. As for Collis  - he was an adequate stand in.
10888  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Bauza is moving on :( on: May 14, 2011, 22:53:55 pm
Disappointed to lose out on Bauza but at least i can save 10 on the Spanish flag i was looking to buy.  I may give Espana douze points in tonights Eurovision in his honour!

So was I - he should have stayed on ethical grounds Huh? GJ was obviously not certain on his "loyalty" - if he showed willing I am pretty sure GJ would have offered him a contract. I was at the Wycombe games where he was outstanding, faded against Stevenage. Against Morecambe he had two easy chances to convert which he missed. He will be missed though - but Exeter, is this a wind up?
10889  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Retained list ? on: May 14, 2011, 22:29:48 pm

I think you might be suffering from post relegation battle stress syndrome and may well be in need of counselling.  I recommend that you take a rest from that CIA torture technique known as messageboarding and come back in 8 weeks time.  Dr Johnson will take care of you and you'll come back feeling like a new supporter.

Pinewoody - Insider is right. Surely the point is that the current setup of players were not up to the required standard. When you start losing consistently to the likes of Hereford and Barnet then clearly there is a problem. Our final league position was a little flattering. It might have been the case that had Sammo stayed we may well have been relegated. It was only in the last few matches did we improve sufficiently to survive together with a nice referee for the Stevenage game. I agree with Dr Johnson's policy - he has to get rid/banish the "Div 1" relegation mentality which has hung over us for far too long. With this clearout I feel he may have achieved it.
10890  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: steve riches on: April 29, 2011, 10:03:22 am
Steve Riches is a dedicated Cobblers supporters who is as fully entitled to his opinions as the next man.  It is pathetic to launch an attack on him at any time yet alone the week in which our fate may be decided.  Let us focus on Stevenage and survival.

I agree with this - JT your comments are in poor taste and bad manners. Why launch a spiteful attack on one of our own. You should apologise - if not perhaps the Administrators should ban you and remove your foul message.
10891  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Our massive 6 pointer match thread!! on: April 26, 2011, 15:09:54 pm

Spot on.

Disgraceful man-management skills.

10893  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: The Positive Thread on: April 26, 2011, 15:02:58 pm
I know it's tempting, but can we save the post-mortems until we actually have a corpse on our hands?

There's obviously a lot to criticise, a lot to analyse and a lot of hindsight flying about. Most of us, myself included, have pretty strong ideas about what's gone wrong and what should have been done instead - we can talk about that at the end of the season. However, until we actually know for certain which league we'll be in next year all this talk is irrelevent and counterproductive.

The fact is that we are still in a pretty strong position to avoid the drop. Let's look at some positives:

-The team are scoring enough goals to get points (something that Lincoln for instance are struggling with)
-The last minute equalisers against Torquay and Rotherham show there is fight within the squad
- Our goal difference is far superior to our rivals
-Our next game is against a team we beat away from home
-The atmosphere at Sixfields has been good, and has spurred the team on to some committed performances

10894  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Collis on: April 22, 2011, 22:58:46 pm
I like him and although not overly busy, he made some decent saves and and looks more assured than Dunn. His kicking is miles better too and he doesn't flap about. Early days though and a couple of clangers could soon change that.

10895  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Josh walker our main problem on: April 20, 2011, 11:43:02 am
..................yr comments on Walker were unjust that is my argument with you. You argued back in an aggressive manner . You should apologise for yr behaviour regarding a Cobblers player......Prick
10896  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Josh walker our main problem on: April 19, 2011, 11:02:57 am
Doubt you even know what Ad nauseam even means, and actually you really are a ****!

Well your wrong  -Ad nauseam is a Latin term used to describe an argument which has been continuing "to [the point of] nausea". Unfortunately you may not be able to understand the term or its application.Did you study Latin at school? If you did you would not have responded as in yr last message
10897  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Josh walker our main problem on: April 18, 2011, 20:39:32 pm
Read the post ****!! I was replying to the fella who said he played well against Bury!
It's a message board, you know, people express opinions. Yes he played well at Wycombe, and I stated that, but anyone who thinks he has been playing consistantly well is deluded.
Oh, and as I called you a **** I suppose I should add one of these Grin

dipstick - yr message is negative "ad nauseam".
10898  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Josh walker our main problem on: April 18, 2011, 15:06:40 pm
Not looking to savage Walker, or any other one player.

Maybe he will have a good game against Rotherham his x loan club Undecided Undecided
Just when we need total support pillocks like you come along with pointless thread Evil Evil Evil
10899  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Andy Holt on: April 16, 2011, 21:37:46 pm
Yes mate you are right. So bloody fickle that I have had a season ticket every season since 1988. Im still the only **** who's proposed to his Mrs on the pitch before a game at Sixfields, featured in the chron, et and 'Chat' magasine. We lost 3-0. Was at the Exeter's Room. Was on the Trust committee back in the very early days and has since helped out in an unofficial capacity with stuff through my business. Will you be able to say the same thing in 20 years time? Maybe yes, maybe no. But statistically it will be a no.

Im not fickle mate, just pee'ed off with watching the most inept bunch of tossers to ever have worn the shirt during my time supporting them. They may well have played alright tonight but they also did versus Torquay the other week. I just cannot wait to see the back of this season.

By the way, my home stag do coincides with our last home game. We better be safe by then I tell ya. The ***** better not ruin that as well!  Grin

You were very wrong about the result - you must make some **** poor decisions thru out yr fickle time.
10900  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: NTFC vs Wycombe LIVE on: April 16, 2011, 21:32:26 pm
I'm gutted. Three points lost for sure, no matter the 'I'd have taken a point before the game' we were 2-0 up.

I saw it coming, called it at half time and I'm gutted once again we bottled it.

Still, Up the cobbs! Big three points friday and we'll be alright, I hope!

You do wonder about some supporters! The team competed very well in the 1st half but (and this is the problem)they faded badly as the second half went on.
The midfield started to tire and surrender the ball. Harrad and Bauza were very good - Bauza goal was superb, easily best of game. Rogers had a good 1st half but tired as the game went on. Webster and defence played ok. Walker was better. Jacobs and Osman good. Could not understand why Mackay came on very lightweight and never put himself about. Last kick of game (and best chance) went to Osman who sliced wide - terrible miss. Still miles better than Bury performance - crowd about 400/500. Most Cobbs fans there were positive types. Only a few moans when we began to give ball away in last 10mins. Well earned deserved point though
