I don't get to many games as I live in Cumbria but did go to the Oxford and Sheffield United games. What was clear to me in both of those games was Page is trying to make the best of a sub-standard squad. How people think this team is top 10 I don't know - Hoskins has been our best attacking threat and he was released from Yeovil last time they were in league 1. I came away from both games thinking the performances weren't good enough, but the January transfer window gives us some hope
I don't know what happened in the summer between KT and Page but the recruitment then is whats costing us now - not signing a goalscorer and replacing Holmes & Adams was criminal. The tactics now are negative but when you've got no confidence in your forward play you naturally sit back. The next week will be a big week and i hope that between them both they sort it out and get the right players in. If we don't i can see if being another repeat of the 08/09 season where we slowly slide down the table into the drop zone right at the end.
Oh dear this all rings true

Revell - okay just about! Nyatanga - good signing (Amazed at yr decision on him) Taylor - still useful for us. Phillips - done ok so far. Anderson - SU rated him !! but not sure about Mr AWOL tho'. McCourt distinctly poor now. Zakuani has been a success 50% successes. ps I still think D'ath could a job - based on todays midfield efforts.

Id like to see any money put aside for new players to be spent on replacing the management team.
Lets get the best out of what we have first before adding to it and making things worse.
We would comfortably stay up with exactly the same squad we have (plus 1 striker with pace if the right player came up).
As others have said, Page is the problem.
I don't agree with some of this. For a start I am no longer quite so confident in the squad. Defence yes but the midfield and forwards an emphatic NO. To me our best bet is a windfall transfer fee for Smith to free up funds. IMO we need several new players. Personally I am prepared to put up with current Manager provided he can bring in some decent players and so ensure our survival in L1. Even if Page survives this season pretty sure he wont be with us for 2017/18. Not after Pboro and Stourbridge fiasco's

I didn't get where I am today by being mistaken for that Egg Heads fella.... No Evers I'm another CJ altogether, on this occasion I felt like rising to Fenwicks bait.
Pity that, but you didn't rise to the bait but supplanted all our minds with your conspiracy theory. Hardly constructive I suppose but certainly not abusive. Fine margins as Mr Page would say.

Ilike deefencive football and catching teams on the break, but WE CAN'T DEFEND, Atruly shocking display today, NOT GOOD ENOUGH BY A COUNTRY MILE
Defender old chap - the defence is ok . Its the tactics employed by Page. The gap between the two strikers and midfield/defence was so large that even the Titanic could complete a 360꙳ turn. You need to be there to see it!

I'm not a Page basher, but after a solid start to the season, what has got the alarm bells ringing for me is this run of six home league defeats in seven matches, half of which have come after the Cobblers took the lead. The only Sixfields victory in that time came against woefully out of form Bury and even then a 3-0 lead was almost thrown away. In this latest reversal – against Bradford – there seemed to be enormous gaps opening up between isolated strikers and the rest of the team. Nor is this the first time it had happened. As with the Bristol Rovers home match, the opposition manager made two changes for the second half which transformed the match, giving the impression that he had worked out the Cobblers’ weaknesses and out-thought his opposite number. General opinion seems to be that the squad is decent, but that the performances are not matching the potential and that this is the manager’s fault. I don't want to agree and would prefer managerial continuity, but...
Same scenario at SU but that was only for 10mins against the 45mins today.

I think I'll be subjective and add to the conjecture. I'm saying he made one up about Phillips injury. I think it was a tactical change but he **** it up so badly he had to make an excuse after ninety minutes. The Mcourt for JJ instead of Revs/Rico was minor by comparison. It's not my head I'm worried for..
I like to think this is merely a conspiracy theory launched by CJ! By the way are you the CJ from Egg Heads?

I know I often do this. I'm not sure what will happen either way with Page. But let's not destroy the bloke with insults and abuse. If he is to go, then let's see him out for football reasons, but remembered it is his job. He doesn't strike me as a bad bloke. Keep your heads and try to remain constructive...
Well said Terry - constructive is the operative word here.

From 2 mins of looking on a forum its clear sc is not coming here. Seems Charlton and Sheff u are in for him and his likely to go up north!
I was not that impressed with Carruthers when he played here. Plenty of moans on MKD forum about his display that day. How many of us have actually seen him play other than at Sixfields?

Agree totally with this, this team is capable of finishing half way under a manager that will get something out of them. Under page we will be relegated
We are still 8/9 points ahead of 4th Relegation spot. I like to think or hope we can stay clear of a relegation battle. Whether that's with Page or not is a moot point. I get the impression that there are a few sides below us who are actually worse. Well that's what F/A stats tell me. Difficult times but best to keep chin up.

At the end of the day it is KT's decision......and from what KT says he is more than happy just to survive the season in this league. If he thinks that might not happen then he might do something.......but he brought RP in, he gave him a three year contract and paid compo to Vale, how much face does he lose by sacking him half way through the first season? He will always go back to the time Wilder was under pressure, the club stuck by CW and look what happened.
I suppose that the pay off scenario maybe pretty daunting too. Its his appointment too so a decision wont come easy. In my mind Page is now shot , done for. Even if he survives the push/sack and we survive in L1 I cant imagine much confidence being displayed by the players let alone the supporters in him. Stourbridge will linger long in the memory.

Speaking of minorities, where is Evers and 78? Want to hear their defence (poorly chosen word) of that 2nd half debacle! Of course, Bradford City have the greater resources!
For the love of God read the thread

& yet you've spent the past couple of months berating anybody on here who has called for his head? You're either a liar or a hypocrite.
or both , but you do miss the point. I prefer not to join in with the more virulent type of abuse calling for the Manager to be sacked. By all means call for the Managers head, but the guillotine mob style is not my style. When the time comes I will make my call and today I have - my way not yours. I do not need a moralizing prod from you of all people.

Of course he should have sacked him before the transfer window. Or to be precise, after the Stourbridge game.
Personally I think you are being too kind - that team selection at Posh (a) did it for me.

If you were the chairman, would you sack Page now? Yes or no!
Are you stupid? I have already said that I would be amazed if Page is still here by next Saturday.

Regarding Phillips injury, Anderson (listed by NTFC as a defender) to right back and Wylde to left midfield would have been a better move?
+ Of course - Anderson to right back, how on earth Page sent on Diamond instead is baffling. ....unless of course Anderson had already been subbed. Don't know can't remember.

It was obvious that we were not going to win today. Every time out forwards received the ball in the centre circle they tripped up in the long grass.
- good one

RP ....... or '78 ? Probably both ! How on earth we managed to look a ramshakle side 2nd half is beyond me. We never got to grips with their bald headed midfielder all game. We defended our final 3rd pretty well but it was SU all over again except it lasted 45mins. We have to pressurize further up the pitch and don't allow the oppo settle down to nice tippy tappy game in midfield. No idea why JJOT was subbed or Phillips for that matter - injuries? When we did have a rare counter attack either it was ended by a misplaced pass or nobody up with play. What was Richards doing on the pitch? I thought that Taylor was ok especially 1st half. Hoskins retreated to his former self - cannot pass or shoot. The only positive was the defence did ok in keeping the score down 2nd half and Smiths display was good too. Not a lot of sympathy for Page now - he had his chance and blown it. If he is still here by next Saturday I will be amazed. However don't include me in the Page out lot - all they offer is continuous negativity. IMO I should imagine we will survive in L1 this year - however NTFC are trying pretty hard to achieve the unthinkable.

How on earth they did not score more is beyond me. Smith saved us as did the defence. Midfield disappeared 2nd half, but overall tactics let us down. If Page is still here after that debacle I will be amazed.
