Put me down for coventry. Just a hunch.  Wink

Well you got where the great 'Defender' lived slightly wrong. I used to rely on you for accurate info'. Wink
22  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Redevelopment Closer Than Ever? on: June 17, 2018, 22:34:46 pm
I always find these arguments on our ground compared with other Clubs a bit meaningless.  Having been to watch the Cobblers at various grounds over the past few years, by and large Sixfields compares favourably with quite a few. Have any of you been to Wimbledon,Portsmouth and Luton? None of the amenities at these grounds are hardly eye catching. Moving from your seat at Luton is a no no. Wimbledon you can miss half the game. Portsmouth;  you need wellington boots to visit the urinals. As for Stanley .... words fail me. A decent ground to visit was Daggers with very decent visitors bar/lounge and even decent toilets and look where they are. The only thing Beds is possibly correct on is capacity; we should have a ground capable of housing 10k souls. Unfortunately it is a horse and cart situation; I prefer to have a decent side first and let demand do the talking.

Evidently you've never actually been in a non league ground, either that or you've never been to Sixfields.

Neither would surprise me.

Ouch!

But actually has bugger all quality

Again agree with this Shocked

Agree to some extent with your managers comment - but the players take a fair proportion of  the blame

Agree with this particular comment on player responsibility.
26  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Which players would you like to see the club try to sign? on: June 15, 2018, 13:43:02 pm
We need to ship out at least 5-6.

Kasim, Bowditch, Turnbull, KVV, Coddington all need to be moved on IMO.

Squad is still woefully short of real width and attacking inspiration, so these areas plus a tough tackling midfielder should be big priorities.
Why Bowditch and vV? vV hardly played, injured and cost money! Bowditch is an established lower league player. I have seen Turnbull put in some decent performances!
27  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Players under contract 18/19 season on: June 15, 2018, 13:20:47 pm
Not massively thrilled with Barnett re-signing, he’ll do as cover I suppose but hopefully we can keep hold of Taylor and Pierre and they can have a good pre-season and hit the ground running for the new season. It’ll be interesting to see what happens to Turnbull and bunney now - turnbull especially looks surplus to requirements.

Thought that Barnett played well in the last few games of the season.
28  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Redevelopment Closer Than Ever? on: June 15, 2018, 00:41:37 am

,...,.......
Whatever happens he can rightly claim to have left the club in a better position than he found it - but its still a big opportunity lost on and off the field from where we could have been after promotion and scope to develop.

If he sells players to realize cash potential then I am not sure he will have left the club in a better position. Short term maybe but long term we may struggle to maintain our League status. I admire your attempt to predict his intentions; something I am unable to do. Relegation must have been a hammer blow to his ambitions here…

Where did you see this quote?

I may have missed it, but I haven't seen anything quoting a league one club.

I read it also - so Wolvo is correct to quote it.  My guess its Wimbledon Shocked

Possibly in Chron.

You're not putting Cornell on a par with Ingram , are you Tony???

Actually Boss I slowly became disenchanted with Ingram towards the end of his tenure here. Whether we like it or not Ingram was part of a defense which shipped goals for fun! Until Cornell has a run of games to prove himself I am not prepared to down him unfairly. I shall report you to 'Richard' for an unsporting opinion. Wink
31  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Players under contract 18/19 season on: June 14, 2018, 15:09:25 pm
I think reserve team cup competitions I'll be happy with him playing in (I don't bother attending these games).

Actual league games? Nah. Oldham saw him play in the league more than us I believe: http://www.owtb.co.uk/topic/48159-cornell/

That Oldham link really impresses me: Smiley Its a situation reminiscent of Archer. At the time Oldham was having a poor spell and as you know we quickly find a scapegoat to vent our frustrations; a la vV. Every game I have seen him play he has not been responsible for the loss or draw. He impressed me against Blackburn, Soton U23 and P'boro(Oct 2017); if he has to play as a No 1 for whatever reason I won't be too unduly worried. In fact, we have defensive players who I worry about more! Finally, I am surprised that you express such a downer on a Cobblers player particularly one who has had limited opportunities here. Give him a first team run and then perhaps we may come up with a balanced viewpoint.
32  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Players under contract 18/19 season on: June 14, 2018, 14:19:28 pm
So he looked good in a reserve match?

The guys a disaster waiting to happen in every match. Every fan at every club have said it.

Hardly a reserve match both sides had regular players selected. Both sides wanted to win; our 175 support wanted a win. Any decent result against Peterboro’ is always welcome and that includes me! Frankly he is better than your assessment and he saves penalty kicks. I have seen him play regularly and yes he does make some mistakes but so did Ingham! Not everybody on here supports your opinion on Cornell and I remain firmly in the non judgemental camp.
33  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Which players would you like to see the club try to sign? on: June 13, 2018, 23:52:34 pm
Morais played up front next to Marriott for Posh in that horrible 4-1 loss at home last season and looked very dangerous. I think he would be a good signing for league 2. Could form a nice big man / little man combo with Andy Williams?

Even better with the accomplished vV
34  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Players under contract 18/19 season on: June 13, 2018, 23:50:22 pm
When did he play against Peterborough?

October 2017 - got you there!
35  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Redevelopment Closer Than Ever? on: June 13, 2018, 23:47:32 pm
Now that the land issues have been resolved we should make a decent proposition for a group or individuals who want a lowly but solvent football club to buy into to help grow.
This will be the first time this has ever happened if this should be the case.
If the current  incumbents  dont really have the £4m to invest into the infrastructure  and only hope to keep us treading water, then theres really no point to them sticking around

Do you not read GPC and Barnabas comments above!
36  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Players under contract 18/19 season on: June 13, 2018, 21:05:32 pm
Wasn't it Coddington playing against Posh, but Cornell played at boro in the mickey mouse cup I think

Pretty sure that is correct! I think the game went to penalties in which he did well. I think he did well against Southampton- come in Alan Patridge to confirm please.
37  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Players under contract 18/19 season on: June 13, 2018, 17:35:38 pm
No chance we'll go up if we have Cornell as #1 goalie.

Every time except Bury away end of 2017 season he has been ok for me. Played well against Posh ETC. What worries me is the standard of judgment exhibited by some on players like Archer and perhaps even vV. It's almost like a grudge thing!
38  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Redevelopment Closer Than Ever? on: June 13, 2018, 16:23:28 pm
He was quite clear that he/they had the funds in place. And that development of land was not necessary. So if he gets a bonus in that area down the line then would you expect him to spend it for the benefit of NTFC?

So if you invested £4m to revamp the East Stand would you not expect to see some sort of benefit to the investors. I wish you were the benefactor as am sure you would be incredibly generous, fairminded etc and want no safeguard on beneficial returns.

39  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Redevelopment Closer Than Ever? on: June 13, 2018, 14:58:25 pm
You do know how incompetent they are, right?  Tongue

Why do you wish to repeat this comment?

That's too negative. I'm sure they'll keep the momentum going, whilst keeping their feet on the ground.

On paper we have a great squad
Wholehearted players
Leaders
Players who give their all
Not fit to wear the shirt (fans favourite)
The first goal is all important
Goals win games
Get stuck in(fans fav)
