....................................... more but if we have a chance to win a cup, (which would be the *1st cup we've ever won btw) then I want to win it.

P.S Will have been 110 years since the 1909 Charity Shield exploits so a nice year to do it. Grin

Good attitude and so do I. I really enjoyed that win lying helpless and in agony, but worth it. Always knew KvV would save us - never in doubt. Ward for Cornell on Saturday?
42  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: The Big One? on: December 04, 2018, 19:55:59 pm
Is there commentary on Radio Northampton tonight?

Yes - on Dab
43  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: The Big One? on: December 03, 2018, 12:01:46 pm
I think the problem with Taylor is probably more due to us than him.

Now that comment is a proper nail on the head! I do think at the mo’ that JT is the better choice! Why split a decent pairing? I like Taylor tho’
44  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Trust Making Bid for Fan Ownership? on: December 02, 2018, 18:54:11 pm
Cornell transfer value  Wink

I have heard that 2 Championship clubs are looking at him - unable to name source!
45  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: The Big One? on: December 02, 2018, 18:46:21 pm

Ward is 21
Facey is 23
McWilliams is 20

Morgan Roberts is the only valid name ONE!

Frank where is this noble spirit of yours gone - or is it because you find the thread title un-nerving?
46  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: One week on on: December 02, 2018, 11:03:38 am
One week on from my first sight of the Cobblers  playing at home this season a flying visit from Scouseland a couple of observations from a supporter who can only now watch the Cobblers live on an irregular basis in Northampton and when they venture up to the North West:

- My scepticism from afar re Taylor, Facey, and  Hoskins was born out in the Grimsby game. Taylor played as though he was the scouse Beckenbauer but was woeful in his distribution and looked uncomfortable when he was pressed defensively, Hoskins ran up and own the pitch like a headless chicken and  his distribution got worse and worse as the game continued, Facey has now made two costly defensive mistakes of a similar nature against Cheltenham and Grimsby at home both of which were easily avoidable.

- First half performance was OK against Grimsby but once Grimsby upped the ante we bottled it.

- Curle now needs to take a leaf out of Wilders book from the season before we won Div 2 when he brought in Ricky Holmes and Brendan Moloney et al and from a similar position to what Curles team are in at the moment use the January transfer window to get in a ball playing midfield player and some effective natural wingers.

I see Curle's current position as a work in progress, overall the quality of League One this season is mediocre and so there should be some  scope for optimism for the Cobblers to reach the play offs.

My seat at the Grimsby game in the West Stand yet again reinforced my long held view that the stand is full of whingers in that an old guy in front of me never stopped moaning once Grimsby equalised in the first half, I cannot understand why posters on this site eulogise about the strength of support from the West Stand , in my view it is non existent.

Again where do you sit in West? Also Curle is the new Wilder?
47  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Trust Making Bid for Fan Ownership? on: December 01, 2018, 21:48:58 pm
Yet more facts out of thin air. The answer would probably be, a resounding: see you at the Pickering Phipps for the Manc game.
Apathy rules in this town. And we both know it. But you wont admit it.

I think you are wrong, at the moment the public basically support the Saints. It was the Cobblers once! If the current side can put a run together it will draw in the missing fans as all the Wembley appearances proved. We have a decent **** of support which with the right team and manager will attract more support. Why do you try to play mind games on a Football Forum.
48  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: The Kieth Curle Post Honeymoon period on: December 01, 2018, 15:47:34 pm
It's none of my business.

Don’t tell me the afternoon 3pm lethargy has got to you as well?
49  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Trust Making Bid for Fan Ownership? on: December 01, 2018, 15:22:57 pm
I would hope that a fan owned (or majority share holding) would have togetherness as it's driving factor, something I thing is vitally important and plays a massive role in overachieving

As Beds says a fan owned club would hopefully inspire more fans and businesses to become involved, but the staff would have to pull in the same direction for the same ends. In staff I mean ALL, from the tea lady to the players, but actually do it, live it, believe it, not just lip service and meaningless quotes.

And Hammy if League 1 was the ceiling the aim would be to have the club in the best position to attract extra funding and also allow the Trust to retain some shareholding to at least maintain some voice on the board, a far far far better scenario than what we currently have.

Hi Random how are you this pm, I reckon these guys just don’t understand you?
50  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Redevelopment Closer Than Ever? on: November 30, 2018, 22:07:10 pm
Not aimed you Everbrite. What makes you think you are so important?

But on the subject of you you are always quick to make a lot of snappy comments and snide remarks on this site most of which are accompanied by smileys and other nonsense mojos if that is the right description. My views on Thomas and the redevelopment are here for all to see and comment on.  That is fine. I have long since realised that I am a minority voice supported by the likes of Random, Manworko4 and others. We can live with that. But your views are a complete mystery to me other than supporting the status quo. So, you think that KT is a good owner despite all the warning signs? Tell us.

Thanks for the reply and a couple of snide remarks thrown in too ...WOW. It wasn't clear at all from your post who it was aimed at although I suppose one could deduce/guess/throw the dice who it might have been for. Just a simple correction to the message would have avoided any confusion. Is communication yr forte?
I have no particular affection for KT except he saved us from oblivion; if people resort to OTT abusive comments on Players/Management, that is the sort of abuse which is unpleasant and hints of libel etc then it upsets me and cannot sleep at night Roll Eyes . Personally would have hoped that KT finished the East Stand by now but suspect my views are on a pragmatic level compared with yours. That is all I am able or even prepared to offer at the moment. If we are mid-table by Christmas will be a happy fan.
51  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Trust Making Bid for Fan Ownership? on: November 30, 2018, 18:00:25 pm
We do not  need fan ownership
We’ve got KT
He told the council he’d got the money to get the stand finished and I’m sure he will
What sort of (fit in as applicable) would he be if he was only interested in land acuasition after all...
What sort of idiots would the council be if they were bent over a second time.
What sort of aftertimers would the trust be if they came out with all this nonsense when posters on here have been asking questions that they should have been asked by the trust  months ago.....

New board....(gone back on promises to the council)
New council leaders....(not fit to be in office)
New trust(not fit for purpose and a new trust set up with new members replacing the ineffectual one that has served us so well)

You sound more bitter than that guy from Carlisle.
52  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Redevelopment Closer Than Ever? on: November 30, 2018, 17:57:11 pm
Give Random some credit, he is stating the truth.  Come up with your pathetic apologies for the club's ownership if you will but when you do tell us how the profits of the CDNL land are going to find their way to the NTFC.

Not sure if that is aimed at me if so doesn’t make
53  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Redevelopment Closer Than Ever? on: November 30, 2018, 16:00:04 pm
So Hammy do you think it was ok for KT to lie (on the basis that you just posted that it never existed) about the £4m just to get what he wanted?

Are you still happy to have such person owning our football club???

Do you still believe he is doing a good job?

More bulls*** from him with latest statement, if i was the council i would tell him to **** OFF and submit a planning application

Hello Random and hope to see you soon! It takes a pretty decent stretch in imagination to pre-suppose somebody is lying based on a contentious proposal by another. To me it distracts from the main points you are making in your reply ref para's 3 & 4.
54  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: The Kieth Curle Post Honeymoon period on: November 30, 2018, 14:17:29 pm

Im struggling to find any posts that suggest he's not made a very fine start........

You wrote that at 5.40am - fantastic effort! What do you think Frank about such an early riser?
55  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Ash Taylor on: November 30, 2018, 11:16:37 am
He is a player on our books, who may need to move on to find his true home (a return to Tranmere, perhaps?)

Until then, why shoot down one of our own?

A simple statement from Crutchyboy and is spot on. No profanity either .
56  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Ash Taylor on: November 29, 2018, 23:42:08 pm
For those that follow me on Twitter will know my thoughts on Taylor.
He may not be responsible directly for conceded goals but he seems to make the other 10 players nervous, his constant clapping like a seal is more annoying than I can ever get into words here, he looks more like a band conductor the way he waves his arms around, he unsettles  me just watching him and would hate to work with someone like that.

Move him out of the team quickly otherwise we will be back in relegation.

I prefer Turnbull to Taylor; if Taylor plays well and holds his place on merit then thats fine by me. You do know he was a window cleaner by trade?
57  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Ash Taylor on: November 29, 2018, 21:09:06 pm

I like Kev - one of the mirrors fell off the coach whilst travelling up the M1 last season; he climbed up and fixed it. Sorry he has disappeared off here. Quite enjoyed his insider posts.
58  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: The Kieth Curle Post Honeymoon period on: November 29, 2018, 20:24:48 pm
I'm glad you find it 'most likely correct' that Ward and Coddington are unproven at league level. With their combined 1 appearance I was unsure on that particularly point.

Why do you think it was a silly comment about Bowditch?

It’s a risk signing a non league player so it was a lazy way out saying ‘likely correct’ however perhaps I should have done is remember ‘Vardy’. Regarding Bowditch he has been a failure but to use a throw away comment like using Christmas as an example is a cheap bite! Would have been better to criticise the signing or even just say waste of a contract!
59  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: The Kieth Curle Post Honeymoon period on: November 29, 2018, 16:51:40 pm
I disagree, a good manager should be able to explain the reasoning behind their decisions and to 'Own' them when they don't work out.

I remember wilder changing our system to a 4-3-3 away at Mansfield and us having one of the worst first half's we had under him. I think we were 2-0 down at the break. He then changed it at half time and we ended up with a draw.

When questioned about it after the game, he said (i am para-phrasing) 'don't blame the players, it was my decision to change the system and it clearly didn't work, i take full responsibility. After we changed it at half time, the players were excellent in the second half'

That's the kind of response that gets my respect. Own your mistakes, show that you understand what they were, why they happened and adapt accordingly to avoid them happening again.

Well said Rebel - mind you with your Managerial Qualifications, Professional Status and Education you should and have in fact put together a very good response. Well done.

Another Carlisle United supporter here, we are like busses Smiley

Just like on the Carlisle board, I totally disagree with Bry as since Keith left Carlisle United we have gone backwards and the football is worse - Bry is a good lad but what he fails to mention is how Curle turned us around and turned us into a decent side even getting us into the play-offs, given a full season there is no reason why you shouldn't be challenging which when you look at our last few seasons I am amazed at some fans not rating him, they are in the minority however as Keith won every single 'should we sack our manager' poll well, as in 'keep him'.

Our board did not offer him a new deal and then they had various managers in the box with them 'courting' his job and Keith remained dignified.

Bry however is an insider as in he works at our training ground so probably knew Keith and most of the players and has more info on him than anyone on here I guess but many of us on the Carlisle Board just believed that the players who were out of favour and not getting a game were getting in Bry's ear and slagging Curle off.

I bet that Bry has a good few stories that are true mind you that he wouldn't dare put online Smiley

Thanks Munchy - a decent enough counter to Mr Brys effort where I gained the impression that he was representative of your board! Bit misleading there Shocked; he also sounded a bit bitter? Pleased you made the effort as it puts things in perspective.
