41  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Redevelopment Closer Than Ever? on: June 13, 2018, 16:23:28 pm
He was quite clear that he/they had the funds in place. And that development of land was not necessary. So if he gets a bonus in that area down the line then would you expect him to spend it for the benefit of NTFC?

So if you invested £4m to revamp the East Stand would you not expect to see some sort of benefit to the investors. I wish you were the benefactor as am sure you would be incredibly generous, fairminded etc and want no safeguard on beneficial returns.

You do know how incompetent they are, right?  Tongue

Why do you wish to repeat this comment?

That's too negative. I'm sure they'll keep the momentum going, whilst keeping their feet on the ground.

On paper we have a great squad
Wholehearted players
Leaders
Players who give their all
Not fit to wear the shirt (fans favourite)
The first goal is all important
Goals win games
Get stuck in(fans fav)

He meant the winner at Notts County. Fine goal.

I think that this is the right decision from a footballing perspective. But having spoken with him several times before in the Melbourne Arms, can vouch that he is a top guy and wish him all the best for the remainder of his career. He was fantastic for us in the title winning season and a very good servant for the club overall.
.

Thks

York at home and Notts County away. Never scored against Orient!

Thks for correction - who scored the first goal at Orient? Would have sworn it was Maloney!
Well done tho!

Correction it was McDonald ☀️

The last one was pretty instrumental in firing Chris Wilder up for his post-match interview, if I remember correctly.

The one I remember was against ⚒Leyton Orient⚒ Actually it was Notts County apologies ; not sure if this is the one you meant. On his day a fine player, he also had a very pleasant Portugese Girl Friend who I sat next to at Wimbledon.

Brendan Moloney to leave at the expiry of his contract.

I would like to thank Brendan for his time with us, a great servant and player, particularly during our championship season.

Good luck, where ever you may end up Brendan.

3 1/2 years and 108 1st team performances. Had lengthy spells out with injury so the new contract may have reflected that. Only two goals tho'.

Don't waste your time on a tit like Three in a Bed - never in his life! Clearly lacking in departments and thinks crossing the road to Fernie Fields is an away day!

Yes I have...two girls!  Wink

Itís amazing that a thread on pre season friendlyís can get so hostile.

By the way are saying you have a wife and two daughters?  Always had you down as a confirmed batchelor of Bacchus.

You don't realise it, but you're supporting cobblerwatch's / my argument...

Please clarify. I can never bring myself to agree with any of CW Ďarguments Ď. Unless of course you and CW r joined at the hip.

£750,000 it cost and took 2 months to build.

To be fair to Beds, whose been heavily criticised on here by many for his costingsÖ.2 of those would 'only' cost 1.5million on this spec and that would increase the capacity to about 9500 straight away!

Add another 2.5million for a basic re-fit of the East with boxes etc, then i reckon thats all doable for 4million in total. Who knows. But maybe not as expensive as many people think!

ĎFort there was an issue with Buckinghamís on £2mill owed?
54  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Redevelopment Closer Than Ever? on: June 11, 2018, 16:13:28 pm
Forget Sixfields....what about successive councils who are taking the town down the pan with poor and bizarre decision making? Chaotic, inept, incompetent, the list goes on. Iím sure some stronger misdemeanours, which Iíll leave for the armchair sleuths.
Sky high town centre rates, not giving businesses a chance. No forward planning for the bus station site. Terrible design of traffic flow. I do feel feel sorry for the majority of council staff too who work under the umbrella of redundancy or poor pay rises. They will be no different to a lot of local councils around the country but several wrongs donít make a right.

That was a PPB on behalf of the Anarchist Party. Better still imo stick to NTFC!
55  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Which players would you like to see the club try to sign? on: June 11, 2018, 16:08:29 pm
Aside from CW/AK and Holmes, I can't think of many who were much better than 'adequate' in terms of individual skill. A quick look at where they are now doesn't suggest so, anyway.

There must have been at least 4 or 5 players in that team who showed the form of their lives for that one season, which could easily be down to the excellent team spirit.

Adams, Díath, Smith, both full backs and the player who went to Pompey looked above Div 2 standard. Of course you have forgotten JJOT!

56  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Which players would you like to see the club try to sign? on: June 10, 2018, 22:56:34 pm
Iíve always maintained adequate players and excellent team spirit get you promoted at this level - manager and player speak so far make me cautiously optimistic.

Not sure if that equates to the Championship winning side; let alone the then incumbent Manager/Assistant Manager.

Fleetwood Town going to Budapest on fans tour. Sort of thing I'm talking about. Last season they played Karlsruher in Austria. Well organised and progressive club is Fleetwood.

https://www.fleetwoodtownfc.com/news/2018/march/travel-to-hungary-and-support-the-cod-army-for-just-299/

Their away and even home attendances are pi$$ poor. How many of their support actually went to Austria; not counting wives etc who must only be 'passengers'!
58  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Redevelopment Closer Than Ever? on: June 10, 2018, 22:44:34 pm
On the back of managing to lose £10 million which they've never been able to explain, have no idea where it went and will never ever recover. Only a stupid council would lend an organisation £10m for it to be siphoned off elsewhere.

I don't necessarily disagree with all your sentiments. I still think it is somewhat harsh to call them stupid; as mentioned before they saved us when some Councils may not have been so 'constructive'.  Anyway its just an opinion as is yours. The word I would have used is chaotic or even inept.
59  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Redevelopment Closer Than Ever? on: June 10, 2018, 21:16:14 pm
The council are that stupid they deserve all that they get.

The Council may have made mistakes but to call them stupid is a bit narrowminded.  I am no great fan of the Council but they, in fact, saved us back in the dark days pre KT. I am grateful for that. You should be also.
