41  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Gone for a Burton FA Cup 5/1/20 on: January 05, 2020, 17:18:36 pm
Great result, super day all round, atmosphere superb, everybody played well. Their No 5 must have been well pleased when Oliver went off , didn’t get anywhere near him all game. Curle got everything spot on today, the subs, tactics and we were top class, I’m buzzing. Please a Sunday draw for me , as at a works conference all day on the Friday and Saturday in Liverpool, if not can see a argument arising with my boss, not very often we get to the 4th round.

Watched on I follow today , an afternoon to forget and need to get it out of our heads fast. Re-group and start the fight back Sunday. Best wishes to Shaun and Harry , hopefully not as bad as they looked. No one played well, didn’t get going at all and need to start another run going. UTC

Really poor first half, haven’t got going yet. The only good thing is we should have been dead and buried. Hopefully can pick it up second half.
44  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Mansfield Town (a) 21/12 on: December 21, 2019, 16:53:37 pm
That was a decent point. Although Cornell should have probably kept out their goal, to say he cost us all three points is harsh, because in all honesty they should really have been three up before we equalised , they missed some sitters. But we hung in there and our never say die attitude paid dividends with a good header from Smith. Not pretty on the eye  , but a good battling point that keeps us in the top seven. Goode my MOM, the bloke is just awesome. Good away following and noise, well done everyone.

An ok performance so far, not a lot of football being played by either side. Unlucky with the shot that hit the bar. Could go either way.
46  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Mansfield Town (a) 21/12 on: December 21, 2019, 13:39:29 pm
Looks like a decent following here today, fingers crossed we can end our voodoo here. Glad McCormack is starting, we will need his experience.

Unable to go today, as having a course of treatment on my leg and a bit too far. Safe journey to everyone going and have a wonderful day out, with hopefully this good run of form continuing.

Another good win today, following on from the Crewe game. Lines had his best game to date and was my MOM too. Lino in front of the west ,was very poor, especially over the penalty, how he never flagged is beyond me, looked like the ref had his whistle in his mouth and was just waiting for him.Controlled second half performance and really should of had another couple of goals. We are very solid at the moment, teams will always exploit the wing backs and space we leave, but that is the price of going forward. The vibes are there for a very good season, the team is gelling nicely and we look strong all round. After that awful first half showing at Scunny , i posted KC had to go, but Keith , i was wrong . The management and players, look different class now and i am loving every minute, long may it continue.
49  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Oldham Away - 2 Nov 19 on: November 03, 2019, 11:04:21 am
Although bitterly disappointed not to have got the 3 points yesterday, i enjoyed the game. Awful travelling conditions to get there, parked up easily and settled down to watch a first half where we stroked the ball around lovely at times and looked a good team. We had loads of space on the left side , used the ball well and thoroughly deserved to be in the lead at half time. 2nd half Oldham tried to play the ball around , but we looked comfortable and actually said to my son if we scored a 2nd, no way would they come back. How wrong unfortunately ! McCormack  was playing well, but agree he is one of the main reasons for us being 4 undefeated and we need to protect him. If Watson,Pollock or McWilliams had been on the bench, then they woud have shored up the midfield and we would have seen the win out , i'm pretty shore. Watching the goals again , Turnbull was stretching for the first, good finish mind and a deflected equaliser cost us. These things happen and although thoroughly peed off travelling back home , feel we are progressing nicely and if we learn from this and see games out better in the future, we will be top seven soon , pushing top three. Thanks for the advice to wrap up, although i didn't find it too cold actually and great support once again from all those who travelled. UTC.

Looking forward to this, as a new ground for me , have never managed to get there before for various reasons. Is it true it’s always cold there , as now I’m mid fifties, I am starting to feel it?
51  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Carlisle United (A) - Tuesday 22nd Oct on: October 22, 2019, 22:28:33 pm
Good away win tonight, coped easily with what Carlisle threw at us, winning everything in the air. Passed the ball nicely at times and looked a decent team again. Credit it where it's due for Curle, we needed to back up saturdays result and he delivered, with the substitutions bang on. Everybody played well, especially Pollock who capped a wonderful display with a good finish, a good nights work.
52  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Salford City (h) 19th October on: October 19, 2019, 22:20:14 pm
Was wondering about the pen hard to see from north stand but if it was a dive then fcuk it I'll take the points we need them but I also thought Salford are one of the worst teams I've seen this season well below average
Haven't seen the highlights yet , but at the time thought it was a clear penalty, although he did throw himself to the ground.
53  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Salford City (h) 19th October on: October 19, 2019, 21:53:10 pm
Easy win in the end against a very poor Salford side. We played OK , nothing special but didn't need to, as they were so poor, offered nothing. A welcome 3 points and clean sheet , after last weeks poor performance.
54  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Scunny Away Sat 12th Oct on: October 12, 2019, 19:54:09 pm
We actually played better when we went down to 10 men. At the time i thought Oliver went for the ball and there was nothing really in it, was surprised to see him sent off and more surprised their keeper had to go off with blood streaming down his face. McCormack was by far our best player when he came on, looked good on the ball and played some wonderful passes, it's just a shame the others are on a different wave length. We need to improve fast, but can't really see it happening. I too lay the blame with KC, as an attacking threat ,we are awful, no cutting edge whatsoever, the defence loses concentration far too easily and the midfield only play sideways. It is boring to watch, yet i still travel to away games in hope, that one day i might see a good all round performance , but believe there is little chance with KC in charge. If we had started today with some attacking purpose and had took the game to them and still lost ,then so be it, but that was awful and the buck stops with him , not the players. I noticed he hardly came on the pitch at the end to applaud the fans and unless by some miracle he changes his boring , player blaming, negative brand of football, we are only heading one way.
55  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Scunny Away Sat 12th Oct on: October 12, 2019, 14:59:24 pm
That was a truly awful first half. This clown has to go. We are so defensive, totally clueless going forward , with no idea what to do with the ball when we have it. I don’t particularly like calling for someone to be sacked , but we’re going backwards under Curle. Scummy aren’t even that good, we are just so poor. I doubt we will come out fighting second half, just whimper along as usual, really p1ssed off seating here.
56  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Scunny Away Sat 12th Oct on: October 12, 2019, 13:50:30 pm
Not expecting to much attacking football, but you never know. Easy journey though.
57  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Mauling The Morecambe A 28th Sept on: September 28, 2019, 21:17:59 pm
A strange game today, 2-0 up at half time, also having hit the bar and yet we hadn't played that well. Morecambe were awful and you could only see one winner. The first substitution at half time puzzled me at the time, yet from then we started to play quite well. Smith and Willo were linking up well together, with some nice lay offs and thought Adams should really have scored when he hit he bar and that was the game changer. They had a couple of breaks, although we were coping with them and getting back, but i think KC saw this as a threat and took  Willo off and the game changed completely. We never got forward after that and the inevitable happened. Once pegged back we started to play again, Hall- Johnson nearly scored and Sam hit the bar. Very, very frustrating, we play good football at times when we need too, the worrying thing is it seems we need 3 goals to be safe, as once the first goes in against us, we seem to panic. Hopefully McCormack will be that calming influence, because that's 4 points dropped in the last 2 games alone.
58  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Mauling The Morecambe A 28th Sept on: September 27, 2019, 19:53:49 pm
Really looking forward to it, hopefully won't be disappointed .Need to bring back 3 points to keep this little run of form going and to get up a head of steam. This team is more than capable and must put in the type of performance shown against the better sides.
59  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Creepy Crawley 21st September on: September 22, 2019, 10:58:09 am
Another decent performance yesterday, shame about conceding at the death, it’s always hard to take, especially the manner of the goal as well. McWilliams was easily MOM in my eyes , an energetic, tackling display capped with a fine goal , scouts will be watching in abundance if he has a good run in the team and doesn’t get injured. Although it should have been 9 points from 9, like has been said ,most would have accepted 7 from 9. If we are going to progress up the league, the next 3 games are all winnable against teams struggling, 7 from 9 though would put us in a good position to have a successful season.
60  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Stevenage away on: September 17, 2019, 21:05:52 pm
Excellent win, played a lot better in the second half , pity about the sending off as was starting to knock the ball about. Goode my MOM again , absolutely immense, roll on Saturday now.
