Unfortunately can’t make this tomorrow, so will watch on I follow. Safe journey to everyone and bring the 3 points home. UTC.

Another really good home performance again, we totally nullified any sort of threat and made them look really ordinary. Didn't look anywhere near a top 2 team, so hats off to KC and the players for such an accomplished afternoons work. Everybody played well, Goode is going to become a real fans favourite, the captaincy has really matured him into a very good defender. A special mention also for Turnbull, who not only had an excellent game , kept his cool despite being targeted when on his yellow card. Need to back this up with a result Tuesday and things will be looking up and we will be gaining some momentum.
63  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Bradford City (a) 07.09.19 on: September 08, 2019, 15:50:04 pm
I am not disputing anything that has been said, but we had 3 great chances to score in the second half. If we had taken 1 of them this board would probably look different. Had we have taken all 3 it definitely would.
Exactly, despite Bradfords dominance, their keeper had to make the more telling saves.
64  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Bradford City (a) 07.09.19 on: September 08, 2019, 11:50:49 am
I call taking Adams off and replacing with Wharton 'retreat tactics' on 73 minutes.
Replacing him with Kaja could have kept Bradford thinking about the breakaway not just committing all to the all out assault on our penalty area.

100% agree with this , we were doing OK with a back 4, dealing with most of the balls into the box and had had 2 breakaways already, a 3rd might have won us the game with Kaja's pace.

Thought he had a decent debut and will be more than adequate at this level.
66  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Bradford City (a) 07.09.19 on: September 07, 2019, 20:20:58 pm
I actually thought we played well today. We were very good defensively, winning pretty much everything in the air, Goode was brilliant and Turnbull not far behind, they really are starting to look a decent partnership. Bradford really came out in the second half all guns blazing and i think that was why Oliver came on , as won a lot of clearing headers in our box. Great looping header , which unfortunately O'Donnell got to, to deny him his first goal. Really thought we were going to snatch an equaliser at the end, when Martin burst into the box, only a last ditch tackle denying him. This is the sort of performance i think we will see away this season, not giving too much away and always being in the game. Not always pleasing on the eye, but today was much more enjoyable than Colchester, despite losing both. My main concern at the moment is Adams, our high profile signing, just doesn't seem to be influencing the game at the moment and seems to be struggling fitness wise. All in all , a decent away day, despite the result, it's just a shame we still can't stop conceding at the end.

Thought we played well first half, well organised , keeping a tight shape, yet still look reasonably dangerous going forward. Ref seems a bit of a homer, missing a few handballs. Need to keep concentrating and hopefully grab a second.

Not for me tomorrow, not really a fan of this new format, made the decision to go to Bradford on Saturday instead,
69  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Welcome - Egli Kaja on: September 02, 2019, 21:26:00 pm
He's a good age at 22, still learning his trade, but has the one thing we are really missing badly, pace.Just because he didn't do it for the wombles, doesn't mean he won't shine here, give the lad a chance, he could be our next cult hero.
70  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Plymouth Argyle (h) 31/08/19 on: August 31, 2019, 20:30:02 pm
Fantastic result and performance today, such a joy to watch. Everybody played well , the high pressing, high tempo, worked a treat and we really looked a good side today. Play like this at home and grind out points away from home and we will soon move up this league. Well done KC and the players, a result to be proud of, long may it continue.
71  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Col U (a) 24/08 on: August 25, 2019, 19:48:52 pm
The way i see it , it is all very well setting up how we did yesterday away from home , yes it's boring and uninspiring , but generally it keeps you in the game and brings occasional wins, a fair few draws and defeats. The problem is we set up the same at home at the moment. We never really attack with any real purpose and quickly run out of ideas if we don't score in the first 15 minuets . We need to be a lot more expansive at home, with creativity and pace, something we are massively missing at present and there is just over a week to address this, or it's going to be a long boring season again , it pains me to say. I so want this team and Curle to succeed , but just cannot see it at present, with such negative tactics. Did anyone else notice yesterday when with a few minutes to go, Goode was desperately asking KC whether to stay up front and was told to get back, which says it all at the moment i'm afraid.
72  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Col U (a) 24/08 on: August 24, 2019, 18:28:40 pm
It really was much the same really, boring, negative football relying on a set piece, although they were awful or a mistake. We never ever have a spell of pressure, or will , set up to play like this. The rubbish about playing attractive football in the opposition half, is so far from the truth. We need someone like their number 7 , who runs with the ball and creates chances. It’s no fluke Colchester have had a few penalties already, we never will if we don’t get anywhere near the box. Only Cornell,Goode, Watson and Turnbull any good today , the rest just average.

Look solid enough again, but creating very little. It is so hot just sitting here in the sun, let alone playing. I will be pleased with any points today to be honest.

Looking forward to this one today, shame we are down the side as like to be behind the goal. Safe journey to all those travelling, it's going to be, a warm one. Fingers crossed we keep our cool and come away with 3 points, come on lads.
76  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Swansea City (a)- League Cup First Round- 13/8/19 on: August 14, 2019, 18:05:35 pm
Enjoyed the game last night, decent enough performance, although didn’t really get many balls into the box apart from the goal. Warburton , McWilliams and Wharton all had excellent games. Possibly a little harsh on Cornell , as up until the goal had pulled of some fine saves, think he just thought he could make it and was caught out. Shame as we matched a decent championship club for most of the game. I’m not too disappointed yet , may be after Saturday if we lose though, as think we are getting there slowly.

My son and i leaving work at 3pm and heading down, hoping for a hassle free run . First time to the liberty for me and more than likely won't be playing them again for a while, so fancied this one. Hope we can put in a performance and make a game of it, would certainly make the journey back more pleasurable. Come on lads.
78  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: 2019/20 kit? on: July 20, 2019, 08:23:09 am
My wife always buys me a home shirt every year for my birthday, which is in August. For me, it is far too like last years, not really worth spending £45 for such a minor change. Surely there is a better option from the Nike catalogue, I understand that we cannot afford  a bespoke design , but to me I just cannot see how this shirt will generate good sales. If we hadn’t of had a plain shirt for a season or two, it would be great , but just think , when it’s important to make as much money as possible, the club have missed a good opportunity.

80  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Mansfield on Saturday on: April 13, 2019, 17:56:28 pm
As for the game , it was reasonably entertaining, considering there was hardly no shots on goal. Did Mansfield even have a shot on target, as can't remember Cornell making a save? For them to be 2nd in the league just shows how poor this league is this year. Pollock deserved his MOM , grew into the game and looks very composed for his age, with also Foley playing very well. Can't see how Sam stayed on the pitch, did nothing again and should have been replaced with Morias in my eyes with 30 mins to go. We could easily have won this, with a bit more intent, as thought they were really dodgy at the back , possibly nerves on their part. I too would like to see Roberts given a game on Friday, to see if he has what it takes,as nothing to play for.
