I thought the whole point of being in the south side of the West Stand was to bait the opposition fans. Didn't the club recently encourage fans to swap there from the North Stand?
every ground has a home and away corner Alton, it's tradition but the police/stewards would argue it has to be controlled and friendly banter rather than 'baiting' . As I have said the club has been considering whether this section could, on fans' suggestion, be promoted as a 'singing' section but as mentioned this would only be possible under certain conditions because of the 'health and safety gone mad' regs they simply have to abide by these days

I can't help thinking there must be more to this from the club's perspective than simply banning people for swearing. Do you know if these lads have been 'warned' previously. Beyond that I am not going to comment on the rights or wrongs of the specific situation as we don't know all the facts. In general terms, the club did say at an Open Forum earlier in the season that they would be monitoring the South end of the upper west as they were following up on the fans suggestion that this be classified as a 'singing section' in the club. They like all of us were/are keen to have this type of 'atmosphere' area. However, this would only be possible if the 'singing' section didn't risk becoming an excuse for an 'alcohol and obscene language' section which baited the opposition fans in that corner. They had received complaints from other people with Season Tickets in that area who were upset by the OTT extent and level of the bad language. They were also conscious that it could be seen as an area for 'antagonizng' the away fans with potential health and safety consequences. As much as my comments may be seen as an 'older head' being somewhat staid and boring the 'younger heads' also have to realise that not everyone in that area whats to hear F'ing and C'ing in every other sentence. Neither can you suddenly oust ST holders who may have had seats there for years. A reasonable balance of boisterousness, singing and atmosphere has to be found. You don't have to be p'ssed or swear offensively to 'sing' and create an 'atmosphere' (although I agree a few drinks does tend to help With regard to the standing .. well that is FA regulation for all seater stadiums not just a club reg. As I understand it the club have been given numerous warnings about the extent of standing in the ground with threats of hefty fines. I for one would rather our money goes towards players wages etc than paying fines to the FA because a small minority think abiding by the rules is simply being old, boring or jobs-worthy. These lads can of course email the Trust Secretary and ask the Supporters Rep to follow up if they really feel there has been unfair treatment with no explanation. In the first instance however I suggest you wait for the club's response to your email. PM me if you need the email addy.

What's the story behind the owl? Always wondered when ive seen the furry little b@st@rd...
I believe there is one each end of the West Stand. They were put there to scare off the smaller birds who, in numbers, were leaving their droppings on the seats and giving the cleaners a headache.

Seriously? None of those 5 teams are going to lose a single game between them??
Of course they will ... that's why I finished with 'The only thing that's for certain is it's all still up for grabs'. As I said in another post I hope it will finish 1 Gills, 2 Burton, 3 Cobblers and 'Simples ...... we just have to pick up more points than those around us'

Port Vale:- 3 in top 12 Cheltenham H D Chesterfield A W Burton H D Rochdale A W Cobblers H D Wycombe A W Aldershot H W = 15pts 82 Burton :- Chesterfield H W Accrington A W Port Vale A D Plymouth H W Bradford A D Gillingham H D Wycombe H W = 15 pts 81 Cheltenham:- Port Vale A D Cobblers H D Plymouth A W Gillingham H D Exeter A D Bradford H W = 10pts 75 Cobblers:- Torquay H W Cheltenham A D Bradford A D York H W Wycombe A W Port Vale A D Barnet H W = 15pts 80 and you are forgetting Exeter have on paper an easier run in Roth D Plymth W Rochdale W Dagenham W Wimbledon W Cheltenham D Chesterfield W = 17 pts 80 So on that basis we'f be 4th or 5th dependent on goal difference. Hence why I say Burton's match v Vale could be significant if either of them win as opposed to a draw and we could JUST sneak 3rd. The only thing that's for certain is it's all still up for grabs

Isn't it 18th ..... but will be higher than that because of the other teams that have to play each other.
Everyone in the top half, with a realistic chance of the play-offs or top 3, still has to play each other so points will be lost so, Simples ...... we just have to pick up more points than those around us
Chelts, Bradford and Vale away are massive, certainly in terms of whether top 3 or play-offs is realistic.
That said our coaches for the Wembley final date are already provisionally booked.
Personally I now think Rotherham (my other prediction) has too much to do for the auto spots so I am editing to Gills, Burton and Cobblers top 3.
The runs of Burton and Cobblers since Xmas, at least, have been spookily close. With both our run-ins, helping ourselves will help each other to 2 of the 3 auto spots. So, lets hope we can both maintain current form or better in the final 7 matches and finish 2nd and 3rd.... (With Rotherham going up from the play-offs)

Hi All, with Lee's permission and the support of the NTFC Supporters Trust we launched a prize raffle draw at the last Open Forum to raise money towards Lee and Ben's cause.
The draw will take place on the way back from the Cheltenham match on 1st April. Prizes include a signed ball and 2 free match tickets for this season donated by NTFC, a bottle of champagne, a cobblers signed children's size shirt (from a previous season but don't ask me which one!!) and a cobblers related children's t-shirt.
I will be selling raffle tickets at £1 each in Carrs Bar before the match (approx 2:15-2:35) or in the North East Corner of the North stand at half-time tomorrow and then again at the Torquay match next Friday (approx 7:10-7:35).
Please spare the odd £1 and come find me at either game to contribute to a worthwhile cause for a fellow Cobblers supporters who is not having things easy at the moment. If you are interested but not sure you will be able to find me PM me and I will give you my mobile number for the day.
thanks
Linda

17 of us from the Cobblers Travel club jumped in cars and went to watch Coventry v Hartlepool ... boring when your heart is not in it ... but another ground ticked off the list for me.
