I must admit I wasn't expecting that when I turned up this afternoon but to a man they all played well today, and with so many defenders out, including Guthrie who called in with a hamstring problem on the morning of the game, it was a remarkable defensive performance. Sowerby at centre back who would have thought it, but he looked good. Moore also looked good, which is quite amazing considering how long he has been out.
It's just a shame Manny's shot didn't go in to make it 2 - 0, JB said he has never seen anybody hit a ball as hard as Manny - maybe he should go forward more often. Sammy's goal was worthy of winning any match and a great cross too.
Well done lads, let's go again at Reading Friday.

Excellent performance. Overcame a hoofball team despite not being given a cast iron penalty which could have put you 2 ahead. Great defending and not too sloppy going forward. Your lads looked so much more up for it than them.
Thanks Wanderlust, it's the first time we have ever beaten them. I didn't think they looked all that great myself. It makes the top of the table interesting,

I was at the game at the County Ground on the 10th April 1965 when the two teams fought out a 2-2 draw. The Cobblers scored first through Don Martin in the 58th min and then Alan Durban equalised in the 75th minute. The Cobblers then re-took the lead in the 76th only for Durban to equalise again in the 80th. The crowd that day was 17,917.
The game at the Baseball Ground on the 28th November 1964 also finished 2-2 with Durban scoring first in the 11th minute and Don Martin equalising in the 33rd, Ian Buxton then made it 2-1 to Derby in the 51st with Bobby Brown saving a point in the 85th. The crowd was similar to the one at the CG with 17,367. The fans stood together on the terraces in those days. At the end of the season the Cobblers finished second behind Newcastle and won promotion to Div 1 and Derby finished 9th.
I'd happily take a 2-2 tomorrow.

ps Brady very critical of keeper and no MOM in Heneghans column as far as I can see! Woe is us! [/quote]
JH gave it to Liam Moore with a 7. He must have been really bored with the game as he didn't even bother to comment on the subs.

Play Dadge.
I am not sure I would want Dadge to make his debut against Derby in the form we are in at the moment. A thumping will do little for his confidence going forward. The problem with Moulden is that he is unable to strike up an understanding with the back four as they change every week. If we could field a consistent back four maybe he would be better.

I am not going to comment on the game as such as I wasn't there, however what I will say is , that if Hylton is fit and 'champing at the bit' why don't we just give him a go. At the very least he might wind up the opposition and maybe galvanise some of our players.
I hate to think what will happen next week.

Ollie Yates, he reffed the Salford v Stockport game last night...
I watched that game, Salford were two up at half time and Stockport scored two in the second half to draw 2 - 2. It was a shocking game, just kick and rush, like watching two Stevenages playing each other. The crowd was just under 4000 with about half, or so it seemed, coming from Stockport just to emphasise what a tin pot club Salford are. I'm so glad were are in L1. There were no controversial refereeing decisions that I can remember.

Awful boring game & thought 0-0 would have been about right...
Thought Blackpool we're poor & will get pipped in the play off race by Lincoln imo...
Looks like Moore is crocked again like Gape, absolutely no point in signing these injury prone players...there is a reason no one else wants them & we've already got a squad full of crocks...
Glad we've got to the 50 point mark as can't see many more coming our way...
The recruitment team seriously need to look at the injury records of all future signings as it's becoming a joke...
Oh, and get young Dadge in the nets to see what he can do, he's our player so rather he gets game time along with Dyche.
Certainly wouldn't be offering Burge a new contract... Must be the most injury prone keeper we've ever signed!
JB said Moore came off with cramp and I have not heard the club say Gape is injured , they haven't said anything about him at all as far as I know. It would be interesting to know why he hasn't featured because he was playing well. There was no Springett last night either and he has looked lively when he has been on the pitch.

The old kneejerkers out in force! Appéré for me - he kept trying .
Evers, we are allowed to criticise the team for a poor performance and boy was that a poor performance, no one came out of the game with any credit so no one deserved the man of the match award. The fans who went however played a blinder which is why I gave it to them. I don't understand this Balding thing though. The only positive I can take from last night was that we appeared to not pick up any new injuries.

It's difficult to think of a single player that deserves more than 2/10 - they were just simply not at the races tonight. We really do need Odimayo and McGowan fit we are so exposed down the wings, not just this game but all games.
A massive improvement is required Saturday if we are going to avoid defeat in the second Cambridgeshire derby.
