I certainly hope you have cleared these comments with everblite before posting otherwise I can see you 'deep in it' as a spelunker would say.

Evers is welcome to his opinion, as I hope I am, but if players play badly we should be able to be critical of them.

I really don't know what Evers problem is to be honest, the world thrives on people having different opinions, that's how change comes about. Not I hasten to add that I am suggesting JB should make changes as a result of comments on here, although I am 100% convinced the club read this board.

I'll put my two pennuth in and say I thought both full backs on Saturday were poor, constantly being beaten by their man, particularly in the second half. I am not saying they are necessarily always bad, just that they were on Saturday.

As for BAS I would like to see him go out on loan, as far away as possible, do Penzance have a team?
563  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Rochdale home 21.08.21 on: August 22, 2021, 10:39:07 am
Just read James Heneghan's player ratings on the Chronic website and he's managed to find a player called Paul Kabamba. I wonder if he is any relation to Nickie.

Nobody deserved to get the mom award so I will give it to the fans for turning out to watch that crap.
565  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Rochdale home 21.08.21 on: August 21, 2021, 17:22:06 pm
We always seem to reserve our worst performances for when we play Rochdale. That was horrific, our full backs were simply roasted by their wingers, particularly Mills in the second half, how many crosses went in from our left. The second goal was bad enough (Brady thought it was onside), but that third goal beggars belief, we lost the ball in their half and they run the length of the pitch to score. I know it didn't make any difference to the result but that goal could become important by the end of the season.

As for the subs, I said as soon as I saw BAS and Rose come on that would be the end of our scoring and that was exactly what happened. Etete and Kabamba weren't doing particularly well but they were far more likely to score than BAS and Rose, although to be fair to all four of them we didn't create much for them, just like last season.

I would have liked to see Koiki come on for Hoskins just to see if he could create something with his dribbling skills, no one else seems to be able to beat a man.

On a final note I hate it when managers and players say 'we can't win every game', 'there will be twists and turns along the way' - yes we know that, and don't need to be told, it almost seems like an excuse for losing to me, when in reality Rochdale were the better side. Let's not forget they had four players out with Covid and one with concussion.
566  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: The ‘Clare Balding’ POTS: Port Vale (h) 7th Aug on: August 09, 2021, 06:34:08 am
Pinnock.
567  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Port Vale at home Saturday 7th August 2021 on: August 08, 2021, 10:13:58 am
I spent some time on the PV forum last night and at least one of their contributors was saying that we would be weakened without Hoskins playing. It seems to be a common theme among opposition fans that Sam is one of our better players. He is much admired by commentators also, so it seems Sam is loved by everyone but us. I personally would like to see him back in the team sooner rather than later, but don't ask me who should drop out.

I thought the game was ok and it was good to finally get a win in our first home game of the season. Pinnock was my mom but no-one really played badly especially considering it was the first time they have played a proper game together. I though Kabamba had dived and the goalie never touchéd him but everyone else, including James Heneghan thought it was a foul so I won't argue on that.

What was weird was that I had not seen any of the 11 players live before, thanks to Covid, and I guess that was the same for most people.

Here's to a good season.

No it isn’t.

Oh yes it is.
569  The Hotel End / Other Football & Sport / Re: The 100 on: August 07, 2021, 17:12:21 pm
Most of the games have been low scoring affairs as the pitches have been abysmal for batting but they are starting to pick up now so I hope we will see more runs.

The county have now lost four players to the Hundred, how on earth they are supposed to compete in this Royal London One Day Cup with the squad down to the bare bones I do not know, albeit it's the same for all the counties. I cannot believe they are actually playing it at this particular time. Who the hell do they think is going to pay to watch it.
570  The Hotel End / Other Football & Sport / Re: Taking the knee on: August 07, 2021, 17:08:12 pm
Well they didn't take the knee so I hope that's the end of it. It was happy with the announcement just before ko, not that I could hear it properly, and that should suffice in my view.
571  The Hotel End / Other Football & Sport / Re: Taking the knee on: August 07, 2021, 10:32:03 am
Taking the knee is a political statement in support of BLM. I am all for supporting the fight against racism but not by this method. If the Cobblers do it I will be looking away. It really is time to stop it.
572  The Hotel End / Other Football & Sport / Re: The 100 on: July 28, 2021, 11:11:26 am
The Hundred has now been weakened by a whole host of England players leaving the tournament to prepare for the test match against India starting next week.

Johnny Bairstow, Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes, (all captains), Joe Root, Ollie Pope (not played a game), Jofra Archer (not played a game), Sam Curran, Rory Burns (not played a game ), Zak Crawley , Dom Sibley (not played a game), are all down as England contracted, except Johnny Bairstow who has definitely gone. I assume they will play no further part in the tournament, although may be returned at some point I guess. Mark Wood is also down to play for London Spirit but hasn't been seen yet, so he may be injured. I cannot believe they have arranged a test series against India at the same time that they are trying to sell a new tournament to the public, especially as most of the original overseas stars (Warner, Smith, Stoinis, Pollard, Gayle and others) are not in attendance. Nasser Hussain has been saying the T20 blast has too many teams and the squads are a bit thin on star quality - well this tournament is going the same way.

On a local level it was good to see Josh Cobb get a game for Welsh Fire last night but why they bothered I don't know - their batting is so strong he was down at No 8 and didn't get a bat and neither did Bairstow bowl him. Furthermore the commentators didn't even mention his name despite the fact he took two catches. The crowd at Cardiff was poor also and made very little noise, even though they probably have the best side, on paper anyway.
573  The Hotel End / Other Football & Sport / Re: Olympics on: July 28, 2021, 10:55:43 am
I have never been a fan of the Olympics, and with this years having no fans in attendance I shall not be watching any of it. Good luck to Team GB though.
574  The Hotel End / Other Football & Sport / Re: The 100 on: July 25, 2021, 16:47:11 pm
I agree with the comments on here, and would add the atmosphere is flat. They are trying to attract a 'family audience' by not selling alcohol and banning records like Sweet Caroline, Hi Ho Silver Lining and songs like that because they don't want 'the boozy crowd' singing along and presumably ruining it for the kids. Frankly the crowd dressing up in costume and singing familiar songs at the top of their voices adds so much to the cricket. They even played rap today - who the hell wants to listen to rap at a cricket match ? well not me anyway.

I did actually watch the women's match from Manchester as the men's match at Lords was rained off and boy was it boring. Birmingham got 113 in their innings and Manchester could only muster up 90 in response. Hopefully the men's game will be better but I am not expecting much - the standard of cricket has been poor so far, but I guess it might improve when they get used to it. The competition hasn't been helped by so many players pulling out due to Covid reasons so a lot of players are involved that I have never heard of, although the young lad Brook did well yesterday.

Unless you support Lancashire, Yorkshire. Notts, Birmingham, Hampshire/Sussex, Surrey,  or Middlesex it's difficult to feel involved. There are two county players in the squads, Josh Cobb and Adam Rossington but neither have played and probably won't.

Whether I shall see it to the end is another thing. It might help if they get rid of that irritating **** Kevin Peterson.

Oh - and there is a test match that will take players away too - not an ideal way to sell a new tournament.
575  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Sweet Caroline on: July 24, 2021, 11:16:11 am
I'm sick to the back teeth of Three Lions, the song is a jinx and whilst Sweet Caroline is, in itself, a fine tune, I just don't get the football connection and besides, darts fans hijacked it quite some time ago....

I'm not a devotee of walk on music but if I had to Id go with something more rousing, like Right Here, Right Now..... But sure someone else has used that too

Sweet Caroline has been sung at T20 cricket matches for some years now, along with Hi ho silver lining and Hey Jude amongst others. I think it adds greatly to the atmosphere. They say they won't play it at the Hundred though as they say it encourages a 'boozy crowd' and they want to attract a family audience. Surely that's why people go to limited overs cricket matches to see 4's and 6's , have a pint and singalong to songs they know?  They have lined up a number of live acts to sing during the break and frankly I have never heard of any of them - mind you I am 74 and have no interest in today's music. I have watched the first two matches in the Hundred and they are as dull as ditchwater without the music.

Sorry if I have gone 'off topic'.
576  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window on: July 21, 2021, 13:16:20 pm
Is this still the transfer thread or has it morphed into 'an audience with Neverbrite'?

Every thread goes off topic in the end. Why can't someone open a 'bitching' thread in general chat so the rest of us can read the other threads in peace.
577  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Sweet Caroline on: July 19, 2021, 06:42:02 am
Sweet Caroline will do for me. I have loved that song since Neil Diamond recorded it back in 1969. Most of the songs mentioned on here by various folk, I have never heard of - sign of age I suppose.
578  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Pre-Season Friendlies on: July 13, 2021, 11:21:39 am
Has anyone tried to pay £5 to watch the game on the website tonight. I usually view NTFC on Internet Explorer but when I try to purchase the game on there it does not bring the option to buy box up. I have used IE all my life and want to continue using it but more and more websites are making it difficult to do so. I did set the website up on Google Chrome as well and although it brings up the 'buy' box when you hit buy it wants you to sign into Google and I don't have an account with them.

What is that all about? Am I paying £5.00 to The Cobblers or Google? Frankly I am beginning to think it may be too much hassle - which is the reason I didn't take up the free ticket offer for season ticket holders. I don't know 5 other Cobblers season ticket holders to form a group with.
579  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Cobblers players taking the knee on: July 13, 2021, 08:10:24 am
I hate this taking the knee crap and if they do it while I am in the stadium I will simply close my eyes until it's over. I am 100% behind the fight against racism, what happened yesterday was vile and I hope the perpetrators are found and punished.

I will never however support BLM.

Apparently Chuk has a minor knock and Dyche is isolating.

Flores has a minor knock as well.
