The Scottish Prem is not of a very high standard look how many Div 1 & 2 players are their including Tete Yengi.

I've just watched Manny's darlings Rangers play out a dire draw with Dundee. I've seen better in division two.

Good to see Butler hitting some form yesterday in a very tight game.

We allow far too many 18 year old's to go to University who aren't academic enough to benefit from the education provided. Many of those individuals have aptitudes/skills that lie elsewhere. The vast sums of Student Debt being written off as unrecoverable are proof of this. These students should be filling the available vacancies in the economy (Care Homes is a great example in this respect - some basic training and a wonderful attitude to the residents are key skills). They are wasting three years of their lives achieving very little when they could be earning decent money. The impact of less academically gifted students going to University has also significantly reduced standards of degrees and the benefits previously derived from following them. If you work in the sector this is all very obvious.

A lot of people attending university and doing degrees that only qualify them for flipping burgers think they leave with a degree when actually all they leave with is a receipt for their student loans.

Isn’t everyone forgetting something, the Football Governance Bill was introduced into parliament on the 18th March. If this gets through we will have to apply for an operating licence and our budget will have to be cut not added to. The good news is that a number of league 1 clubs are in a far worse position than us and are probably going to have to take some fairly drastic measures to reduce their budget.

It's a big "if".

A good day yesterday on what seems to be a batters pitch

Looking around the counties there certainly appears to be a lot of batting wickets at the moment.

Having lived in the Middle East and having Arab friends I know that there is virtually no antisemitic feeling, but there is a huge anti-Israel feeling. They see Israel as an invader enabled and supported by the West. However it must be recognised that the majority of Arab countries see Iran and Shia Islam as a huge problem in the region mainly due to Iran's stealth invasions of countries like Bahrain where they move in en masse and take over large areas of the country. I can't see the Arab nations joining on the side of Iran unless an Arab country is directly targeted by Israel.

If I remember rightly(which I do sometimes) most if not all of the league 1 televised games were on a Monday this season.

WE need to allow in a lot more immigrants, get them working, get them paying taxes. WE could also, oh, I don't know, join the European common market, ease trade and travel controls, increase our GDP, etc, etc.

Nice to see Starmer actually broaching the subject for a change. Every long journey starts with the first step.

And I need to grow wings so I can fly away on holiday free of charge. Neither are likely to happen.

I wonder how much wacky baccy that would take?
14  The Hotel End / Other Football & Sport / Docked points on: April 08, 2024, 18:10:36 pm
I see Everton have been docked another two points dropping the perilously close to the drop zone.
Apparently Man Shítty have around 110 cases under investigation at the moment. I'd like to see four cases investigated immediately and them docked enough points to make it so they don't qualify for European competitions and the make them start next season on -106 points. An example needs to be made that you cannot break the rules to purchase success.

I'm a massive supporter of vocational training - learn a skill or trade and accept a living but lower wage as part of that training.

The end of apprenticeships as our manufacturing industries were decimated by cheap imports was the big problem. People will blame governments for this, but the consumer has to bear a big part of the responsibility.
You only have to look at on our doorstep to see how much the demise of the boot and shoe factories had so a huge knock on effect on all of the supporting companies costing thousands of jobs. Corby suffered the same when British Steel cut it's own throat by selling the machine tools from Ravensgraig to India and Malaysia and being hit by cheap imports in return. This is the same for so many towns and cities in the UK.
