This thread perfectly exemplifies the reason why I post rarely on here nowadays, every single year a few of the same posters, either those with massive egos or aggressive agendas, hijack the board with some absolutely ignorant guff.
Same folks complaining about the lack of long-term vision for the club have the patience of toddlers themselves when it comes to waiting a few days for transfer announcements.

Jacobs would provide pinnock with competation tgst he needs, pace is not requited with his passing quality and ge played 30 plus games last year so hylton comparision is laughable
Featured in 30+ games. Only completed 90 minutes once all season. Cumulatively played fewer than 17 full matches.

So players now run around and with greater intensity than say Frank Large did, do they? I suppose the only way to avoid 'memory tricks' would be to watch old footage. What is available?
Yes. Conditioning is on another planet compared to his era (even compared to 10-15 years ago). See how many current athletics world records you can find which were set before Frank Large retired….

I agree with you about the playmaker and pace out wide would be good.
Who is the "famous" trialist Jake Sharpe mentioned when interviewing JB after last night's game? Anyone know? I doubt it's the name that's already been mentioned on here.
I think ‘famous’ was a tongue in cheek reference to the oddity of trialists being named on teamsheets rather than the trialist himself being famous. Looks likely to have been Jerell Sellars as reported on Twitter.

Like most, thought it very strange to offer him an 18 Month Contract at the time... Surely, an invitation to this pre season would have sufficed... Not as if he had clubs queuing up to sign him He was on trial/training with us for several weeks prior to his signing. As others have said, think you have to trust the judgement of those who actually see him in training and still feel with his well-documented injury issues the relative risk vs reward of offering him a contract made/makes sense. If it doesn’t work out that doesn’t necessarily mean it was a bad decision IMHO. If we’re increasingly focusing on developing players it’s not realistic to expect 100% of them to be a success.

my opinion is "slightly disturbing"? It doesn't matter if I'm a mod or not, that's the vibe I'm getting from the trust at the moment. As for the phoenix club comment, that stems from when we nearly went under 6 or 7 years ago, captain Tom Reed could hardly contain himself at the thought of starting up again. I'm presuming he's something to do with the trust, he was involved in that odd presentation a couple of years ago about signing gentleman players or whatever was in that baffling leaflet
From the outside it feels very much like 'The New Hotel End' crew have been ripping pages out of the same colouring book, no idea if there's any crossover in terms of actual individuals though.

Fair play to them, although I'm surprised they have needed to go down that route as they are the epitome of how to run a football club
Losses of £4.5M in their last 2 sets of accounts including a provision for legal costs associated with historic child abuse cases?

And not far down the road on the wrong side of the Nene they have raised £1.5 million in a short time via a bond scheme to pay for some further improvements.
Not to be cynical but I'm amazed that people are so willing to gamble on the bond offering (keep in mind there's absolutely no guaranteed return on this) given Darragh Macanthony's background with other peoples money (in addition to just generally being an absolute pr***). https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/mortgageshome/article-1692381/Holiday-property-agent-MRI-accused-of-fraud.htmlIf the ROI here was as secure as the literature implies they'd have very little difficulty funding their expansion through traditional means at a lower interest rate. Is my investment protected by a compensation scheme?+ No. An investment in the Peterborough United Bond is not protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme or any other such scheme. All obligations arising out of or in connection with the Peterborough United Bond will be the sole responsibility of the Issuer. If the Issuer goes out of business or becomes insolvent, you may lose some or all of your investment in the Peterborough United Bond.

Don't really understand the criticism here. Pretty clear his function in the team currently is to reduce the gap between our midfield and attacking lines and be a pivot for the likes of Lubala/Hoskins/Pinnock rather than a classic number 9.
As others have noted, 4 assists in 12 games now. Paul Lewis played a comparable role for much of the season but only managed a single assist in 42 matches.
Would be nice if he carried move of a goal threat I agree but we look a much more coherent side with him in the XI IMO.

So taking some of the threads from the Colchester game and folks complaining they couldn’t stream the game - my understanding was if you had an UK IP address you could watch away games but not home games - non uk residents or an overseas billing address and IP (so a vpn is not sufficient) can stream both home and away - it seems now UK residents can see no Saturday 15.00 KO game so why the **** would anyone subscribe to iFollow? - is this a change of policy or have I missed something for the last 3 years?
Has always been that way (i.e. no 3pm Saturday games streamable within the UK). Only exception was last season due to COVID. It has to be said it's an incredibly painless workaround to stream via VPN if you do wish to watch inside the UK though. Payment via Paypal is now accepted so there's no credit card validation which is reliant on a non-UK billing address.
