Good atmosphere last night. For their first goal - albeit a powerful strike that took a slight deflection off Brough’s thigh - Moulden should not have been beaten so easily at his near post. He did, however, save the day when faced with a one on one clawing away a goalbound lob. Their goalkeeper was the busiest player on the pitch - not by saving any of our shots but constantly having to collect back passes! Hoskins’ 15 minute cameo certainly livened up proceedings exemplified by his tracking back across the pitch to clear a dangerous attack. The linesman, on our side, was shocking first half missing at least two offsides which, thankfully, came to nothing. Great result and gutsy performance by the lads.

JB said on Saturday that none of the injured players would be back before the end of the month - then he clarified that as the end of Feb!! These are not niggles and short term injuries that most clubs have to manage! Surely having a 1/3rd of your squad out for months at a time is not normal!? I don’t buy this competitive advantage bollox - I think they owe us supporters the decency of telling us the truth! We’re not asking for who is going to be available to face Portsmouth on Saturday - we just want to know how many weeks each of the crocked players are likely to be out for! Big fan of JB but this is not the way to do it!
Well said!

One game, according to the record books. Great player, possibly the best centre-back I've seen in the Claret & White.
Definitely the best centre back I’ve seen playing for the Cobblers although the best memory I have of Frank is his towering header, in front of the Hotel End, during the 1970 cup replay against Tranmere Rovers!

Indeed. Next he'll be using the Hoskmiester and Brady Out!!..
On a side note Reading were deducted 3 more pts.
It’s a suspended 3 points deduction. Another instance of crowd trouble during 2024/5 will see this deduction activated.

I remember getting set upon by a bunch of Newport County skinheads in 1971. My mate saw it coming and ran off! On the terraces at the old Somerton Park - complete with railway sleepers - one burly Cobblers fan had his face slashed with either a cut throat or a Stanley knife, however, he fought back and did the same to the Newport fan! Tough Cobblers fans in those days. Although the crowd was around 4000 the atmosphere was quite intimidating.

Delete this thread ffs! Wouldn’t be surprised if JB reads this forum, he needs everyone behind him and the team. We’re in a s*** position so rally round! He certainly deserves some time.
I second that.

Well he certainly did. Marquis showed him how it should be done in the second half with a very similar chance, albeit disallowed for offside. [/quote Marquis disallowed goal was a completely different and simple chance to that of Simpson’s. Again, I’m not a fan of Simpson but to blame him for the miss is a little unfair. Initially it looked as if the ball was coming straight to him but the combination of the miskick and keeper kept out a certain goal.

Simpson misses from a yard out!
Whilst I am not a fan of Simpson it’s unfair to say that he’s missed from a yard out! Firstly the defender miskicks Borough’s cross then their keeper makes a good save and pushes the ball into Simpson who had no time to react. Would’ve posted this earlier but have only just dried out after yesterday’s soaking.🌨️🌨️ Terrible ground for away fans.

Apart from a ten minute spell in the second half we were in total control of the game. Leonard was immense and, if he continues to perform like this on a regular basis, we’ll be lucky to keep him until the end of season.

Looking fwd to this one mate! Living in Gloucester these days as you know but I’m actually dog sitting all week for friends in…. You guessed it, Cheltenham. So , for the first time ever, I’m walking to an away game. Can I strongly recommend to everyone who likes a good selection of beers that we meet at The Exmouth Arms on Bath Rd? It’s so much nicer than the shopping area of the town centre. If people don’t want to walk that far, I suggest a walk to Montpellier where there are equally nice pubs including a lovely All Bar One. GlosCobbler…. If you wanna meet the other GlosCobbler I’ll be at the Exmouth from 11am after I’ve been out for a bit of downhill craziness on my bike up Leckhampton and Birdlip hills early doors!
Shoe aaaaaaarmy!
I’ve PM’d you.

‘Home game’ for me ~ well, 13 miles away. Plan to be in the Hewlett around 1.30 at Harp Hill about 1/2 miles away from the ground with former colleagues who are Cheltenham supporters. Family friendly pub.

Sure people have seen but there's a rail strike on Saturday
I was planning on getting the train from London, goes to Bristol and then up to Cheltenham The rail strike is affecting the trains from Bristol up to Chelts Is anyone planning on driving from London way or could drive back to a station that is running trains back to London after the game?
The strikes affect all the trains after about 4/5pm so it's getting back is the issue!
Why not take National Express to Cheltenham? It’ll cost £40 return from London Victoria but plenty of buses running.
