they were victims of the boo boys coz they were s h i t at the job they were supposed to be doing, not because people didnt know what they were supposed to be doing.
I half agree with that in regards to Burnell. But there were still a sizeable chunk who booed and groaned regardless of whether they played that role well in certain matches.

He's been by far and away our best player this pre-season.
Typically, the defensive midfield position is largely unpopular at Sixfields. Victims of the Sixfields boo include Joe Burnell, Paul Trollope ect.
Hopefully the crowd will realise the job he's doing. From what I've seen so far he appears to have greater vision and distribution than players such as Osman/Burnell.
Hopefully he carries this form into the season.

Pretty much agree with what most people have said.
Started very brightly and it was a spectacular goal from Jake Robinson, who was a constant threat throughout the time he was on the pitch. Davies, as he did at Brackley, started very well but faded a bit later. As I said after that game, hopefully with more matches he'll be able to play at that level for a longer time. Turnbull once again had a very good game. Strong in the tackle, a great passer and he reads the game fantastically. Sam Walker made some superb saves, and he was blatently fouled for the cross he dropped.
Forest were just too good in the second half. They knocked the ball around so well and both goals were emphatic finishes, although Luke was given a free header in the box.
Overall, again some very encouraging signs, and we certainly looked better when we played it on the ground.

All I will say to that is, there are a fair few whining on their facebook pages. They also post on here. It's not a slight on your post in particular and I hadn't misread yours or any others posts. I didn't go to the game so have no opinion one way or another about the performance. I was merely stating that pre-season friendlys are meaninless, other than to improve match fitness and hone tactics. This is indeed a forum. Forums are where people air their differences and have their opinions. Why should everyone just agree with everybody? I think some need to relax a little nad not take things so personally. It's called having a persecution complex Fair enough, but the people on Facebook would make some of the more renowned posters on here shudder with embarassment. The posts on this thread have been match reports rather than any in-depth analysis of how it will affect the season. I do agree that pre-season matches are meaningless and you can't read anything of great detail into them. Ian Henderson looked great in pre-season the year we signed him, look how that turned out I just thought I'd post my views on the match for the benefit of those who didn't go. I'll do the same for the game against Forest, regardless of the result.

As soon as we lost 1-0 there would of people scanning this thread for anything the slightest bit negative to attack with the standard it's only a pre season friendly, I get the feeling though had we won 6-0 it would have been concrete proof to the same people that we are going to walk the league.
Spot on.

Coolcat, what exactly does your quote of my post "there's the first of the evening" mean. I'd quite like to know what I've done to be honest.
And MorleysMullet I haven't seen anyone post anything that would deem them to have to 'relax', so quite why you felt the need to say so is a mystery.
All I've seen is the people who went describe what happened to those who didn't. If people read them posts and thought we were genuinely judging the team after one match then there is some serious lack of ability to actually read the posts in question.

Haven't seen anything about the match at all.
Did Bayo play? If so does he look fit? Same for Wedderburn and Thornton.
Did the trialist play, if so what were peoples thoughts? I'm hopefully going to make the game next Saturday.
Bayo played first half. He was his usual self if I can put it like that Wedderburn looked slimmer and Thornton was in the stand because he has an injury. Trialist played some of the second half. Difficult to comment on him really, he didn't get many touches and he didn't get any service.

The pitch was fine.
It was all a bit bizarre really, no player seemed to stay in one position and a multitude of players were played out of position.
Frankly it was rather dull. They took their goal well and we created absolutely nothing. We didn't look like scoring at all.
Anyway, they were the negatives. Here are a few positives: I thought Paul Turnbull was our best player by a country mile. Some delightful passes. Arron Davies started really brightly but faded as the game went on, although that should hopefully stop after a few more games. I thought Lewis Young looked OK, as did Jake Robinson.
Can't really read much into it other than first impressions though really.

Shaun batt brought for just 5k. Loaned to Millwall for 50k. Later (and not part of the original loan I believe) sold for 300k.
George Boyd 150k to buy - loaned to Nottingham Forest for 500k
Luton paid us 60k for Liam hatch 12 months prior to signing him permanently for 125k (sorry not quite more than we had paid for him)
Rendell signed for just under 100k before we sold him we had received just over half that fee in loan payments (sorry not quite more than we had paid for him)
Rene Howe signed for 80k. More than this was brought in in loan fees for him.
You do the maths but we have brought in more in loan fees than we have spent out on these players combined.
At last. Thank you. Although to be perfectly honest I would take anything Mr McAnthony and Mr Fry say with a pinch of salt. This is after all the man who said that Aston Villa had lodged a bid for Joe Lewis, only to see Villa make a statement later saying that the whole thing was a load of bollocks

I liked Billy and I'm quite disappointed he's leaving. Wouldn't of been first choice this year but would have been good back-up. I thought it was pretty clear how to get the best out of him: play him alongside a big fella like Bayo. Him and Bayo formed quite a good partnership in the short time they played together.
Don't think he will quite reach the standards of Morison, but I think he'll forge a decent career in the lower divisions.
Good luck Billy, thanks for all your efforts and that goal at Anfield in front of the Cobblers fans.

HTAFC pulled out of the race to sign him, leaving us with a clear run! Of course it can't be true can it, Jacobs has signed a contract extension and Johnson is no longer interested in Langmead? Oh no . . .
P.s anyday now you'll sign a player on loan from Chelsea on the say so of Tragics brother. You'll believe the hype and then realise he's shocking! Edit: just seen you've signed their ****e keeper! Ha ha I think you lot may be right you will reach the premier first. . . shame it'll be Blue Square premier!
You haven't answered my question
