1201  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Why not Johnno im midfield? on: June 24, 2011, 16:40:15 pm
And by all accounts looked totally out of his depth in midfield last year.

We've done this before, with both Crowe and Jacko, both not as effective when played in midfield. When you spend an entire career in a particular position, you learn who and where to pick up, when to bomb on and went to hold off. It's not as simple as 'well he's got good ball control so why not play further forward?'.

Crowe I agree, but Danny Jackman was much better in midfield than he was at left-back.
1202  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Who would you start with Bayo? on: June 24, 2011, 14:22:39 pm
I really think we should give 4-3-3 a go. Our attacking options are clearly the best so let's utilise them.

Robinson, Bayo and Harrad up front.
1203  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Tozer signs....genuine on: June 23, 2011, 15:54:10 pm
Hopefully a pre-season in that position will do him the world of good. Cracking signing I think, definite potential.

Jonno on talksport biging up Jacobs and comparing him to Ashley young - jonno was the man who discovered young at Watford
Good. It's about time we started bigging up our players.

I hate to say it but P*sh really could teach us a lesson or two in how to drive up the value of their players. Their constant bleating and bigging-up has produced a transfer market where Joe Lewis, who is dogs***e, is worth £2-3million.
1205  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Chronicle and echo exclusives on: June 23, 2011, 11:22:00 am
Why, do you know something?  Roll Eyes
I think having read his posts we all know the answer to that question Wink
1206  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Chronicle and echo exclusives on: June 23, 2011, 10:36:12 am
What the hell are you expecting? It's Pre-Season, pretty much every day is a slow news day. Unless you want to apply for his position and dazzle us all with your superior journalism.
1207  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Interview with the Chairman/Paul Tyrrell on: June 21, 2011, 10:16:32 am
Hi everyone.

I'm interviewing David Cardoza, and Conference and Banqueting manager Paul Tyrrell, tomorrow for the next NTFC Trust newsletter (should be coming out in late July).

Obviously the Trust represents the fans, so if you guys have some sensible suggestions for questions then I'll see if I can fit them.

In particular, are there questions for Paul with regards to the Carlsberg cafe, restaurants ect?

Cheers,

James.

It was only after he lost out on Williams that we started to hear about Turnbill.
We were linked with Turnbull before Williams signed for Yeovil.
1209  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: 500 extra regular fans required on: June 08, 2011, 09:36:52 am
If we're winning regularly we'll get 6k regularly. People will come to see a winning team. Sadly there hasn't been too much winning over the last 3 years.
1210  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: NTFC Top Ten Transfers on: June 08, 2011, 09:33:31 am
Giles Coke cost £70k didn't he?

We paid money for Brett Johnson as well, something like £20k?

You don't get it, fair enough.

Just a quick note. Today's NTFC Trust Car Boot Sale raised £1,334 for the football club. Thanks to everyone who helped.

Secondly, you will all be recieving a Trust newsletter within a few weeks, most likely in July.

You can also follow us on Twitter, here is the link: http://twitter.com/ntfc_trust

Thanks,

James.

There's patience and then there's patience.
Whilst other teams get their squads in place we are struggling to get players in again.
This I can accept as it's a competitive old game bringing in players.
But noises of promotion challenging squads from the chairman, the team I'd like written down on a bit of paper from the manager.
A load of old bollocks.
Why can't they just tell the truth and say we will get the cast offs who can't find a better option elsewhere.
If you want a quality signing such as davies you go all out to get him.
I don't beleive for a minute we will but I'd be delighted to be proved wrong.
A team of comparable size with the same ambitions as us are Oxford and they seem to be having little trouble adding to their already impressive squad.
They spend proper money on players such as craddock £100000 and I bet they will spend again this time round to improve.
We spent £40000 on harrad and let's see what we spend to improve this time.
If we want to challenge the likes of Crawley and Oxford we have to be prepared to spend.
I doubt we will.
The likes of Crawley and Oxford ARE building impressive squads.
We are being told we are when the reality is we are getting the crumbs off the table.
I know others will disagree and that's what forums are all about but for me you don't build impressive teams without targeting quality and getting it in.
Year after year teams who set their stall out early and do this are the ones who are promoted.
The other teams make up the numbers.
With the signing of bayo I don't expect us to face relegation but it will needca lot of quality adding to the team that finished sixteenth to make us candidates for promotion.
If the intent is there then you get those players in.
It seems to me we are waiting to see what we can pick up rather than getting our targets.
Calm down. It's the 3rd June for god sake! If we are in the same position in a month ,then start to panic.
1214  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: The Official "Who we think would look good in a Claret Shirt" Thread on: May 27, 2011, 15:45:21 pm
Harry Forrester has been dumped by Villa.

Cost them £250k from Watford in 2007.

Would be a class act at our level.

Will never sign for us though!  Cool
I'm pretty sure someone told me that Forrester was with our Centre for Excellence before he had to move away.

1215  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Bayo is back! on: May 24, 2011, 17:16:33 pm
Wasn't he part of the team that rolled over, died and got relegated from League 1 then failed miserably to get us promoted straight back up next season? Huh?

I'm a little undecided over his return to be honest.
It's hardly fair to categorise him in this statement bearing in mind that he was our top scorer in both the seasons, and we inevitably would have done a lot worse had it not been for him.

Bayo's goals, and mostly his hold up play, are a nightmare to deal with in this division. We didn't properly replace him, and who better to replace him than himself?
1216  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Bayo is back! on: May 24, 2011, 17:02:00 pm
well maybe Fez its a football decision.... and seriously Gillingham aint all that, pretty much a dump tbh
Read my post properly mate. Unless I have to put dozens of smilies at the end to put the message across.
1217  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Bayo is back! on: May 24, 2011, 16:50:12 pm
.... and theres plenty of arse to lick lol  Tongue Tongue Tongue

Personally, I can't see why Bayo would want to leave Gillingham. After all, living there I can confirm that is a wonderful, modern, forward thinking town with luscious green hills and beautiful scenery. In no way is its river dominated by a nucleur power plant, and in no way are there sofas and washing machines littering the streets.
1218  General Category / General Chat / Re: Brussels or Bruges? on: May 23, 2011, 19:05:06 pm
I've been told Bruges is absolutely quality.

In Bruges is a very, very good film too.  Grin
I've wanted to go to Bruges ever since I've seen that film. They're filming midgets!!
1219  General Category / General Chat / Re: Twitter? on: May 23, 2011, 19:02:57 pm
And so he should. It's ridiculous that they can just slap an injunction on it to protect their arses
Even more worrying that they consider the private life of a footballer to be of more importance than the freedom of expression.
1220  General Category / General Chat / Re: Twitter? on: May 23, 2011, 17:34:33 pm
John Hemming MP, who also revealed Sir Fred Goodwins super-injunction, seemingly has the bollocks to fight against this. Well done sir.
