The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: January Window - Rumours, Ins and Outs
|

I believe that since Curle arrived...
Games Taylor started...…... P12 W1 D7 L4 Goals for 13 Goals Against 17
Games Taylor didn't start... P11 W7 D2 L2 Goals for 23 Goals Against 10
Based off above, if we replicate these over a season based on averages, with Taylor in the team since Curle arrived, we've been getting 0.83 points per game which would result in a total of 38 points over a 46 game season. Without him in the team, we would be averaging pretty much 2.10 points per game and be on course for 96 points were we to maintain that average over the season. Even allowing for a considerable lapse in form, that is the sort of form one expects from a club in the top three. I do hate picking on one particular player (I even felt sorry for Danny Alfei), but the numbers don't lie.

think your talking about gary the one who fu**ed about at stevenage last year with their keeper towards the end of the game when giving him the ball back which led to them getting the winning goal boy did he get some stick for that and still does
God I remember him. Had the misfortune to be sitting very close to him for that game and now make a mental note to stand/sit as far away as possible from him if I see him at a game. Whenever I do see him, he seems to go out of his way to make trouble.

Chill. It was the first time at what seemed to be a resounding success if you ignore the issues surrounding licensing which will hopefully be resolved one way or the other. At least we have a chairman who wants to improve the matchday experience. If he doesn't get it 100% right first time, we don't need to get on his back over it.

Someone on Chesterfield forum saying its 99% done and to be announced before weekend! Someone else saying they've met twice and he's turned em down!
What, with Wilder? He's been banging on about the Portsmouth game and this time next year there is a big possibility we could swap leagues.

No pleasing some people. At least he is genuinely trying to get us a decent stand and if that means waiting a bit longer and not being the size of the new Kop at Anfield, so be it. Lets see what he comes up with first although it will probably still be disappointing considering the dross he's been left with.

The only time anyone should need to use a smoke bomb is on a battlefield where they belong. Bringing them to a football stadium is beyond moronic and should be dealt with accordingly by the authorities. At the end of the day, we go to a football match to watch our team win. How does bringing and setting off Pyro equipment enhance the experience?

The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Petition to put pressure on DC to get the deal done

I've signed it, no problem with that.
The main problem with all this is that it expects David Cardoza to have a wish to be reasonable and helpful without mucking himself about too much. If this is true, then efforts asking him to consider other people should at the least produce some consideration of the pleas and a possible compromise. I'd be delighted if that proved to be so...
... however the other scenario is that if he wants to be as spiteful as possible, make the maximum number of people unhappy, stick two fingers up at fans, and totally p*ss off NBC, then I know of no legal path that can stop him. If this turns out to be his aim then he has to live with what he has done, and he has my pity because who would want to descend to such depths of moral depravity?
I've heard nothing so far that suggests he will consider option 1.
Putting huge amounts of pressure on him is the best way to get him out and other than occupying the stadium until he goes, we don't really have another option than to express our frustration in numbers which this petition enables us to do.

Big well done to the team if any of them are reading this thread but perhaps more importantly, a big well done to the fans. Unfortunately I couldn't make it today as I had prior commitments for this weekend but each and every one of you who went have done our club proud and have shown that if we do die, we will fight and go down all guns blazing. I'm privileged to be associated with all of you just by the fact we love our club

So basically no one is buying the club until they can sort out who has to pay back the money. As much as it pains me to say it if I was the council I'd make a condition of buying the club an immediate payment of the £10.25M owed. They've already had their pants pulled down once and I don't suppose they'd welcome any more slip ups. Nor would the Northampton tax payers who don't give a fig about the cobblers. I'd suggest buying the club and letting a perspective new owner pay off the debt in stages would be a risky strategy. What if heaven forbid the first payment is met but then payments stop..... It's a bloody merry go round. For me whoevers buying should pay off the council and then buy the club. Excuse my scepticism but I can't see anyone doing that...
If we follow your plan, we're definitely going into liquidation. Nobody unless they are an NTFC fan with lots of cash to throw around is going to agree to those terms and going by the lack of them showing interest, I can assume the number of people in this case is about the same as the number of Dodo's around. If we want NTFC to exist without starting in the United Counties, it will have to be paid back in stages.

Don't think there is a thread on this match yet. Stevenage seem to be getting their season back on track after a weak start and it has the added benefit of Teddy Sheringham coming to Sixfields. What do we reckon?

It never seems to come together for us. When things are rosy off the pitch, we're terrible on it and when things are looking great on it, it's going to Hell off it. Still, 5th place (thanks Mansfield you utter *****), 3 off the automatics and 5 off the top. I'm going to enjoy this while it lasts.

Even I've held my hands up and admitted I was wrong which pissed me off more as I looked like a complete moron in hindsight. I want what's best for my club and that is for Cardoza to leave asap. On another note, just applied to join the Trust today.

Yes Devon, but do we actually know how long this other consortium have been on the scene. Just because we only got to know about it when the Indian consortium pulled out doesn't mean they haven't been around in the back ground for a while, as I think DC confirmed last week.
So more of the 'due diligence' has been completed than you think and they are waiting to make a firm offer to the Council after Thursdays court case with CDNL is completed, when hopefully more will be known.
Either you are bulls***ing or they're mad.

The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Council Deadline
|

I posted that (lengthy!) comment following a call I had with a hugely experienced insolvency specialist who I know and who i trust the professional view of implicitly. [page 681 if needed]
He reassured that the club ('company') can still be sold during the period leading up to the High Court hearing, but that it is now more complex than before, not least as the new owners would have to take on the risk of that hearing (it effectively stays with the company regardless of a change in ownership).
(I see the Chron reported otherwise which, judging my he many factual errors I've read there over the past weeks, is I suspect a case of the journalist misunderstanding what they were being told!)
Indeed you did MD. I was trying my best to remember who posted it and thanks again for clarifying again on here

I've heard the same although there was something on the Redev thread (think it was there) that apparently it is still possible to sell it but I can't remember the in's and out's of it. It was a lengthy comment but very informative it must be said.

Just out of interest and I don't know if its been addressed on here somewhere, but if HMRC have frozen our accounts, does that mean that the deadline as of yet has been rendered invalid? Probably a stupid question but if so, might be the only good thing about today.

Whether or not all that has been done with a different party is something else. If the club can present a credible buyer to the Council tomorrow, then I imagine the deadline will be extended or cancelled entirely, but only if they complete the deal shortly. Either way, we will have a better understanding of our fate in 24 hours. Makes one nervous.
