Normal car parks tonight?
1582  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Rocking the Robins Swindon (H 14/2/17). on: February 13, 2017, 08:00:01 am
I seem to remember people criticising our friend Rob Page for not rotating the team with two games in four days or whatever (granted it was a losing team) I think a couple of changes to just keep it fresh but nothing major.

If Zak and Williams are fit, I would not be adverse to them starting in place of Nyatanga and M.Smith.

Other than this, I don't think we should change.

Same starting eleven, back to back wins.

Better highlights here, for the save and that goal where they just wandered straight up the middle:

Zakuani for Nyatanga still, definitely.
Moloney and Williams would probably have to settle for the bench as far as I'm concerned

I would agree with this, but would rather see Keshi up top and Williams at the top of the diamond.

Not sure Rico or Smith deserve to lose out though, so would have no worries if it was the same team sheet.

No way Eardley should be dropped after todays performance.
1586  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Chesterfield @ Home on: February 11, 2017, 18:21:03 pm
I think you mean Michael Smith not Matt Smith.

Yeah, my bad.

Dr Who wouldn't have had such an impact.  Grin
1587  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Chesterfield @ Home on: February 11, 2017, 17:55:00 pm
A tale of two halves indeed, we were cruising in the first half and looked like we'd score at least four or five.

Boateng and JJ ran the show with ease, and when we scored almost straight away at the start of the second half I thought we'd run riot.

Instead it was an almost "Page" like display of being camped in our own half, unable to keep hold of the ball and inviting the opposition in.

I think if Smith hadn't made an absolutely outrageous save, then we really could have been in a bit of bother.

But will happily take a huge 3 points, great performances from Boateng and JJ in the middle, Matt Smith up top look class today and much more mobile than expected, Eardley had a great game and Smith made some key saves.

Win on Tuesday and this week could be the one that keeps us up.

Boateng, although JJ and Eardley were superb also.

Special mention for A.Smith (huge save) and M.Smith (really got involved and much more mobile than I thought he would be).
1589  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Chesterfield @ Home on: February 11, 2017, 14:52:00 pm
Good performance so far, Smith looking a lot more mobile than I thought.

JJ and Boateng outstanding so far, as well as Eardley.

Still trying to snow, maybe we'll get blizzard like conditions.

Diamond or 4-3-3?

This will be interesting.....
1592  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Chesterfield @ Home on: February 11, 2017, 11:14:40 am
Very quiet on here for this one, quiet optimism hopefully.

2-0 Cobblers, Williams and Keshi to score.
1593  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Chesterfield @ Home on: February 11, 2017, 07:19:55 am
Looking forward to today, confident of an easy win.

An unchanged team?
1594  General Category / General Chat / Re: Safe Standing Survey on: February 08, 2017, 11:08:22 am
I'd much prefer a fully completed East Stand before this happens.

Without doubt, who knows when this is likely to happen though.

Good to see some more of the lads get minutes under their belt today:

Although still scoring lots whilst conceding goals, this should help those not getting regular first team minutes in increasing their match fitness.
1596  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Chesterfield @ Home on: February 07, 2017, 11:46:35 am
Apparently too soon for Zak and Moloney. Diamond should be able to play.

If Diamond is not 100% fit, I'd rather we played Concrete Rod and got Zander back for Tuesday against Swindon instead.

Or even give Rod a run of games if Zander needs more time, what's the worst that could happen?  Grin

Shame about Maloney, he really is the key to this diamond formation.
1597  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Chesterfield @ Home on: February 07, 2017, 09:49:36 am
Stick with the diamond formation, hope for Zak and Maloney to be fit.

Eardley has done a stirling job, but just isn't as good as Maloney bombing forward and that's what this formation needs.

We need ZaK for obvious reasons.

I'd go with:

                    Smith

Maloney  Diamond (if fit) Zak   Buchs

                    JJOT

Boateng                      Taylor

                 Williams

      Keshi                  Rico

But I expect we'll see Nyatanga (as no news on Zander) and Taylor back in his holding role with Williams wide and JJOT up top.

When did this run of easier games start? Asking for a friend.

1599  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: RICO 2017 on: February 05, 2017, 13:24:39 pm
I think Rico has looked fantastic the last few games, much more like the Rico we are used to.

I'm glad we have Smith on the bench to give him a rest for the last 10-15 minutes if he looks tired though.

As for penalties, Keshi seems the obvious choice if it's not Rico.

Unlucky, sounds like we deserved a draw in the end.
