Let me let you in on a little secret if we play Lintott, Dyche at the back and Dadge in goal against Derby it will be double figures, none of them are good enough, don’t get me wrong Moulden is dreadful but Dadge is a young boy who needs more loan experience before being blooded against what is a championship team.

Agree with this, next week is not the game to blod dadge, lets hope burge can play as he will be more effective on one leg tgan moulden is. To add to that after watching lintott be ripped to pieces at pompey it coukd well be 6,7,8,9.

We have too many players not lg1 level and are now being found out a little, which is worrying.

Dropping like a stone, thank the lord we have 50pts
3  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Play-off watch on: March 14, 2024, 14:02:26 pm
Lots of our supporters do lack ambition and are happy to settle for mediocre - which fits the chairman's agenda so I do agree with Marvo they do go hand in hand.

I would say we were never going to make the playoffs we need to spend loads all over the pitch to even compete with the top 6 or 7 - however Lincoln (Similar size club, similar budget etc.etc) have shown it can be done
4  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Portsmouth (a) on: February 06, 2024, 20:45:03 pm
I think Leonard would fit in comfortably in that side and shine even brighter. It was noticeable how much he held onto the ball on Pompey in tight areas and retained it himself... only to look up and have no option to pass it to. He clearly does not want to simply go long aimlessly each time which is admirable and something we need more of. At the moment he does not have any real options or players who possess the same level on the ball, I think he would be hugely talked up in the Pompey side.

Funny how we see the game differently, i thought he was pretty poor (best of what we had) but didnt keep the ball very well and delivery was really poor all afternoon. When you pook at the two pompey boys in the middle of the park they dominated everything, Leonard is pretty slow in moving the ball forward in comparison, but would agree with the lack of option comment. Lets hope saturday is better

The thing that stood out to me is how very far off Pompey we were all over the pitch - I think it honestly proved (Marvo Alluded to this on another thread) none of our currently team would get in that squad, let alone match day 11, the disappointing element is not even getting close to compete with them, 2 very soft goals met the game was over in 16 mins

I’m sure most will agree on here, the nonsense stems from your keyboard.

Obviously a manager will want to invest someone else’s money in a bid to get the best chance of success.

There’s no need, we’re safe. Let’s use any spare change to invest in next year which is when we will need it most.

I really hope this We're safe comment doesn't come back to bite you and us on the arse  - Still what 4 wins away from that at present - I agree, we didn't need to spend lots of money, but if we have 2 or 3 more injuries we could be a team in free fall
7  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: January 2024 Transfer Window on: January 30, 2024, 22:04:40 pm
A good friend of mine is a relative of Coventry City's Liam Kelly and reckons Cobblers put in a bid that was rejected for being too low. Word of mouth thought, not sure whether reliable.

33 years old and coventry captain, very unlikely id say
8  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: January 2024 Transfer Window on: January 30, 2024, 21:26:50 pm
Probably not as Reading have a fire sale on and are getting rid of their high earners to reduce their financial outlay, Knibbs will go to one of the bigger League 1 clubs although there are Championship sides interested as well, and there will be with his decent return of 12 goals in that struggling Reading setup.

Oxford are leading the race for Jack Marriott, Wrexham are sniffing around but Oxford is said to be Marriotts preferred option.

Derby, having already taken Corey Blackett-Taylor off Charlton are pursuing a move for another ex-Cobblers loanee, Sheffield Wednesdays Michael Smith could join up with James Collins at Pride Park.

With Portsmouth, Bolton and Pish all taking on new players in the window it does seem that the big boys at the top are scooping up players in the hope of securing promotion, making our task of gatecrashing the playoffs that little bit harder still.

Just a thought but all those teams bringing in players, surely teams will be looking to offload players that fall deeper down the pecking order?

I see Chris Martin has signed a contract extension at brizze rovers, id love to see someone like marquis back here who isnt playing regularly there.

Carlisle fan reckons Jack Diamond is heading their way.

Has indeed signed - Anyone know if we were in for him?

Why anyone would want to get rid of Hoskins currently I do not know. Players that score goals are hard to find, we’ve got one.

Anything above a million for an almost 31 year old, got to take that surely?
13  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Brady out! on: December 13, 2023, 19:33:08 pm
REALLY?

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, had we lost to Cambridge and burton then yes the chances are he woukd have gone. Im pleased we didnt and we are where we are. Lets not get carried away, but im pleased things are much brighter.
14  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Brady out! on: November 09, 2023, 12:02:59 pm
As we all know In Brady’s first season in charge we were cheated out of promotion, second season he gets us promoted, this was including overcoming absolute carnage in the treatment room. So 8 days into November let’s just have a summary of the previous 35 calendar days. On the 1st of October we beat Exeter 0-2 away, we then beat Reading 3-1 at home. Our captain is then injured and since then we’ve lost 4 and drawn 1, 1 of them arguably a bit of a non event against Barrow. Since then we get all this, the Trustologists on their bonkers crusade blaming the owners and a fair few others going nuts over 4 defeats following all that recent history over the last couple of seasons. Thats right in just 35 days that started with 2 wins on the bounce it’s turned to this. Some of you lot are a fúcking disgrace, supporters my arse. Brady will be here into next season despite some of you lot. Not because of finances or any other Trustologist conspiracy theory, but because consistency and continuity was the strategy, it was the right strategy, and because he deserves to be and it shouldn’t even be in question.

To repeat, supporters my arsé.

I'd counter this by saying yes we beat Exeter and Reading over a month ago- Neither of those two teams have won a game since - Exeter were poor, and have since been in total freefall Reading were awful! - To srtand any hope of staying up we will need to finish above these two teams. Yes our skipper is injured - injuries happen - How is the FA cup game a non event??? - cost us 41K just from not progressing!
Bolton could and should have been 5 or 6 nil up at half time, Bristol rovers were very, very average, derby totally blew us away, then the barrow disaster!

What seems to me is there is a lack of fight, lack of passion, no closing down as a unit - all things we did well early on in the season - It's great calling for consistancy - but if you are consistanly getting hammered, with no aparent plan B, team looking like its not playing for you - Something needs to change at some point - I don't think fans asking questions makes them any more or less of a supporter as you - It just maybe means you are happy to settle for being mediocre and just excepting relegation.

I don't expect KT to sack JB simply becuse irt appears JB is happy to play KT's game of not wanting to spend money and being content with what he has - What I would say is the next two games are massive for us as a club - Get nothing from Burton and Cambridge and we are in real mess - even worse play as we have been for the last month, get 2 hammerings - Well that dosen't even warrant thinking about - I think if that were to happen JB may walk before any sort of decision needs making
15  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Brady out! on: November 04, 2023, 22:16:00 pm
Id agree too, lets face it, he has got simpson and hylton horribly wrong alongside a number if contract extensions of lg 2 standard players. Where's the trust he will go out and get what we need in jan?

I agree. Hardly got a good record in that department. Maybe its a case with Thomas, once bitten, twice shy? (though you could say he's already been bitten twice)
16  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Brady out! on: November 04, 2023, 19:16:13 pm
Lets be honest its not just tge last 2 games is it? Had we been 4/5 nil down half time at Bolton it would have been fair, Bristol Rovers we were dreadful against a very average team, the derby demolition, then today, outplayed, outfought and outthought by a very average team in the keague below us. The alarm bells are on full tilt and we will be relegated unless we change something.

Brady has spunked a large proportion of our wage budget on hylton and simpson, bithhave been major flops. Yes he gasnt been back properly, but what he has bought has been lg 2 at best, given contact extension to lg 2 players and there is no fight or passion, nothing from the players suggesting they back him.

Sonething must change and very quickly

I'll judge JB on the last 2 years NOT the last 2 games!

He is a good enough manager to manoeuvre us through the current poor run.

Hopefully  in a few weeks our team will be

                      Burge,

      Odimayo, Sherring, Guthrie, Brough,

 Sowerby, McWilliams, Leonard,  Hondermark,

               Hoskins, Appere

Do the armchair expert managers think that fit team would keep us in League 1?

(And obviously we MUST sign 2 strikers on January 1!)

It will be a depressing list.
Chris Wilder or I’m not interested.

Pearson?

Enough is enough, time to go!
19  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Barrow on: November 04, 2023, 15:05:12 pm
Brady out, he has to go!
20  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Free Agents and Loans on: October 14, 2023, 20:54:50 pm
Would hope he would be exactly the player we would be looking not to sign. We’ve already been bitten by an ageing player, on the decline, with a chequered injury record who doesn’t seem to have bought in with what Brady is trying to achieve. We have done well in recent years with the profile of signings and it’s been the more wild card ones that haven’t worked.

Ageing at 27, give it a rest!
