61  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Wombles away 27.03.21 on: March 30, 2021, 10:03:50 am
The only club Sammo managed apart from us was Corby Town and he resigned after just 5 games.

I could be wrong but I think Corby were going through a few financial problems at that time.
62  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: THOMAS YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED on: March 29, 2021, 08:09:35 am
The blame for the situation we are in lies at KT's door and no one else. The squad we have was put together on the cheap to save money as we were in the middle of a pandemic. We obviously couldn't offer enough money to bring in quality players and Curle was happy to go along with it and bring in bang average league 2 players. The problems were then compounded in January when he was still allowed to choose who was bought in and we didn't address the issues with the spine of the team. We needed (and still do) a decent keeper, a decent (fit) Centre Back, a quality central midfield dynamo and a striker who could find the net on a regular basis, what we got were loans that aren't that bothered as they can go back to their parent clubs at the end of the season.
I don't think anyone could do any better than what Brady is doing and if Thomas doesn't splash the cash for next season we may as well keep the Brady bunch in charge as at least they care about the club.
Thomas needs to sell up to someone who wants to take the club forward, if there is anyone out there who is interested, let KT take the land and get someone in who cares.
63  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Jon Brady on: March 04, 2021, 09:23:59 am
So nobody has a scoobies do they?

Curles recruitment was dogshit, as correctly pointed out, or we would not be in the position we are.

Stop fecking about, give this fledgling management team from now until the January window. Time to assess, time to build in the summer and have a real good go at the new season with their team, whatever division it is.

I'm actually proud of Jon, Ian and Marc, we're lucky to have them here and I cant think of anyone who I would want managing our football team right now more than these guys. Give them some time.

You can stick your merry go round of basement managers names. We don't need them.

I agree with this, lets have someone in charge who cares and understands the youth set up so can set up a philosophy for the whole club on the playing side.
64  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Sol Campbell on: November 02, 2020, 10:08:57 am
I don't remember anything during that game and I was sat North End of the West. There must be a recording of the match somewhere would be worth the club looking at it and seeing if there is anything in what he said.
I personally have only heard racist comments a couple of times during the sixfields era and they were dealt with straight away and people ejected.
65  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Keith Curle appreciation thread on: October 28, 2020, 10:05:58 am
Interesting, serious question mate, what have you seen that makes you think we can stay up?

Not an awful lot so far, however, at this point last season I hadn't either. I just feel that whenever you hear the players being interviewed or chat from around the team they always seem positive and as though they are working for KC. That goes a long way and to be honest I think this season is just about surviving in league 1 and developing a team for next season. Lets be fair we fluked getting here, the squad is nowhere near as strong as we would like but a team who are all in it together does work. I think Atkins showed us that as did Wilder when they weren't getting paid.
66  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Keith Curle appreciation thread on: October 28, 2020, 09:13:21 am
I feel we should give Keith this full season, it's his first time in this league and he needs time to develop his style of playing at this level. I think he will keep us up this season and then next will be a time to push on.

That rumour about Goode is not true. West Brom are now keen.

If West Brom are keen maybe we can do a deal whereby we get Money and Morton on loan for the season, be worth it.
70  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: No Trust In The Trust on: August 05, 2020, 10:50:32 am
FFS Battery if that’s not the crux of the problem I don’t know what is? We’ve all been saying it but the Trust ain’t having it? People can view that as attacking the Trust if they like but I disagree. What people have to realise is that people with that view are possibly the Trusts greatest guardians, because unless the Trust take this on board they probably haven’t got much of a future and I personally think that would be a tragedy.

I was trying to put it in a way that didn't seem like I was having a go because I think a fully functioning trust with the full support of the fans is what we need and want going forward. Unfortunately I think your right it will be seen as an attack, but what we have doesn't work for me in the form it is in and nobody around me in the West either.
71  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: No Trust In The Trust on: August 05, 2020, 10:07:09 am
Are we at a stage with the Supporters Trust where a large portion of the support feel they are irrelevant, if that is the case then maybe it is time the trust reach out to the fans as a whole and ask what they want from a supporters trust or even if they want one.
There have been a few comments recently from various different people on social media to the fact that they feel the trust is a small clique which does not represent its members let alone the fans.

I don't know if they do or don't but now is probably a good time for them to put some sort of questionaire out to the general fan base and not just members to see what is needed and wanted, the original trust was well needed and represented what we as supporters wanted, but in the last few years we seem somehow to have moved away from that. The people who work for the trust put a lot of time into doing what they think is best and give up a lot of their spare time but if its not what the fans want then is it right?
72  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Redevelopment Closer Than Ever? on: August 05, 2020, 09:12:27 am
I understand why the trust have delayed until after the council meeting, but in this instance and with all the mistrust between both parties surely it would have been better for a couple of representatives to jump on a zoom call quickly and just open a dialogue, after their meeting with the council and they then should have information from both Kelvin and NBC to put to their members before setting up a 2nd zoom call with Kelvin to discuss and sort out their issues with him and his with them.
What the trust have come out with smacks very much of pettiness, ie we must have the meeting under our terms not yours.
73  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Redevelopment Closer Than Ever? on: August 04, 2020, 09:28:35 am
For the best outcome for all of us we need the trust to reach out and take this olive branch that has been offered and try and work with Club instead of the continual sniping and digging that we have had from both sides.
74  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Redevelopment Closer Than Ever? on: August 03, 2020, 10:49:56 am
I can sleep well, because unlike you I haven't entered into inference and conjecture. The mere fact that you keep saying the "truth" will come out, suggests that you believe you are in receipt of some knowledge that others aren't. I am always cautious of those that speak and preach of the truth, but refuse to, or cannot share it. Until I see anything from you, The Trust, or indeed KT, I will reside where I do. In neither camp. As I have always said. If the Trust, or you have something that you believe will work in the favour of those of us, who just want a resolution, then.."publish and be damned". At the moment, you are doing no more than adding to the speculation and mess, and making noise.

None of us will have "red faces" as you put it. Because we are not under pressure to prove any suggestion of impropriety, because we haven't entered into that. You need to come up with the goods, not us. Sooner or later, somebody is going to have to step past selling tickets for the show, and actually perform.

Along with my challenge to you, to show me where I have backed KT, I also issue a challenge to the Trust AND KT. No more using message boards and the media for proxy war. Tell us what you got. Or just shut until you can.

Fully agree with this statement
75  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: League One 2020-2021 Season on: July 31, 2020, 12:04:00 pm
lets just hope we dont have to play any of the clubs that will be sell outs whilst we can't fill the stadium, which I think could be as much as half the games this season.
76  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: League One 2020-2021 Season on: July 31, 2020, 11:44:35 am
As it is looking less and less likely that the fans will be allowed in, is there an argument now for allowing Season ticket holders access to ifollow for free until we are allowed back in. So we can still watch the games live.
77  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Redevelopment Closer Than Ever? on: July 31, 2020, 10:38:51 am
I’m inclined to agree
When the time came for a whistleblower to lift the lid on what was happening last time it was left to someone not on the board to do the deed....

What exactly were the trust doing??
It was their job to inform the members and fans and they chose not too instead leaving it to someone else.

They were not fit for purpose then and I’d imagine it’s the same people who failed the fanbase then that are still in charge and making a racket now....

Apologise for the way you let the fanbase down last time before you go on your next crusade...

As far as I know there was never an apology from the board for their part in things and they’d have had my respect if they’d stood up and admitted mistakes were made on their watch.

(Amended to correct the quote in/out box... Wink   )

Fully agree with this

I'm not sure what Goode is worth in todays probably somewhat devalued market but I sincerely hope KC gets a fair share of it to assist in finding a replacement or replacements?  Must admit that I'm a little concerned that we have had no news on Oliver resigning or not and perhaps more importantly the current situation on obtaining Morton and Wharton's services for next season.  I would have thought if getting either or both of those two back on loan was going to happen it might just have been decided one way or the other by now.  Also I thought some of our windfall from the FA Cup run would be used on strengthening the squad.  We did not use much of it in the January window so presumably some of that is also left?  If not where did that go? Keeping club afloat in these difficult times I suppose would be any reason given.  Please keep safe all of you, I don't think we are 'out of the woods' as yet with this awful pandemic.

As I understood it both Morton & Wharton may well be close to start of season before decisions are made, or at least until both of their clubs decide if they want them in the first team squad.

Looks like the League starts on September 12th because thats what the Prem want. No news on who or how many will be allowed in.
80  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: League One 2020-2021 Season on: July 24, 2020, 13:30:56 pm
It’s bad news Wigan have been relegated .
They start afresh with no debts and are clearly a very good side .
They should be relegated 3 divisions in my view

I feel the Wigan situation is not of their making in any way. Speaking to one of the Wigan trust members the other day it sounds they have been royally stitched up by a crook. They weren't in any debt of any form and he just removed everything and wanted to liquidate the club, it was lucky that they got administration. They hadn't spent loads on players or anything the guy was just a crook.
