I see Ryan Watson has been released by the mongs...

Sure someone said we were in for him in January...
That would be me.
122  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Summer Transfer Rumours 2019 on: May 17, 2019, 08:55:05 am
At least if a few clubs are interested we might get something like what he’s worth (whatever that is) and not just having to accept the only offer we get - having said that we won’t get told how much the fee is in any case. Failing that if we just get derisory offers it would probably be worth just holding on to him for the last year of his contract in the hope that he leads us to promotion. If he does go I’m guessing that we would probably go for Goode who while being a solid enough player is no Pierre.
I agree. Maybe he will stay if we get promoted. If that seems unlikely, there's always the January window.

Not being funny, but why would he not go there? They would give him lg1 every week. For what it's worth I think he will go higher, but people who think he won't go to 'little old Shrewsbury need to get a bit of perspective as they are bigger than us and it's exactly what he did when he left Wycombe for us.
Look at it another way: they wouldn't have offered much. They're just getting in early to see if there's any chance of capitalising on our desperation. We will get better offers. Bet they didn't offer more than £150k.
124  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Summer Transfer Rumours 2019 on: May 16, 2019, 07:38:35 am
Nothing until next week at the earliest now apparently
We can wait. It's been a good start with the 3 we've got.
125  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Summer Transfer Rumours 2019 on: May 16, 2019, 07:37:15 am
and experience and leadership..
Think we have got that with 2 of the 3 we have signed, but we could always do with more.
126  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Summer Transfer Rumours 2019 on: May 15, 2019, 14:42:45 pm
Good signing and a good influence to have around our younger players.
127  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Summer Transfer Rumours 2019 on: May 15, 2019, 11:15:14 am
I agree but the tone of Alfred’s post sounded like he had heard something that may scupper the deal.
It seems very late in the day if that is the case, assuming he was having medical with us on Monday. I wonder if he would have taken the time for a medical with us if an approach had been made by another club? He returned from holiday Sunday/ Monday.
128  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Summer Transfer Rumours 2019 on: May 15, 2019, 10:49:25 am
Yeah, thought this too. Walsall a better move logistically for him i guess.

Seems a loyal guy though so hopefully he keeps to his original agreement to sign for us...
Yes, and I haven't seen anything to confirm Walsall are in for him. And salary comes into it as well.
129  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Summer Transfer Rumours 2019 on: May 15, 2019, 10:05:27 am
D Clarke was appointed Manager a few days ago so it might be a reasonable guess that he would sign ex players! No mention of Lines hijack on Walsall forum; except an indirect comment mentioning some BR players released.

Another thing that might be against us is that he would save an hour [approx] a day on his travelling if he goes to Walsall. Hope this comes off. We are only guessing his former manager would come in for him.

.

O'Toole resigning?
Extremely unlikely.
131  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Summer Transfer Rumours 2019 on: May 15, 2019, 08:15:41 am
That’s a good shout to be fair - if he does go to Walsall I’d imagine that KC won’t be too chuffed if he’s been tracking him for a while and thought he had an agreement in place.
Your right. We made an approach weeks ago. This is known because CL telephoned a 1st team player to ask his opinion of the club.

“Crack” it. Has to be “Charlie” Goode
Cracker!

Signing announcement 4pm.
135  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Summer Transfer Rumours 2019 on: May 13, 2019, 11:32:30 am
Sentiment should play no part in signing or re-signing players.  It is clear that Rico and Buchanan are not part of our future. We should always welcome them back as guests for their massive contributions to the club.  We have enough geriatrics like myself in the stands without populating our side with old favourites.
Rico still lives locally. If he retires, I hope he returns as a coach in our academy set-up.

definitely? you have access to their pay structure?

if so, good knowledge - might be breaking some sort of confidentiality clause though?!

I know what CWs wage is and what it is going up to be. I'm not sharing that but it will be more than you think.
137  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Summer Transfer Rumours 2019 on: May 09, 2019, 10:24:23 am
based on?

Based on the fact that all other members of staff will receive an increase - in particular, CW.
138  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Summer Transfer Rumours 2019 on: May 09, 2019, 09:23:56 am
Sheff Utd put Ricky Holmes on the transer list...
But is he prepared to leave? His salary will take a massive bump due to promotion. Doesn't matter if he plays or not. It would be in his best interests to stay and go out on loan if fit. Sheff Utd will have to subsidise his wages and wear it.
139  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Players Under/Out of Contract 19/20 Season on: May 08, 2019, 10:08:17 am
I would be very surprised if a division 1 side signs Buchs or any of our released / transfer listed players .
I'll stick with Crewe then.
140  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Players Under/Out of Contract 19/20 Season on: May 08, 2019, 08:32:11 am
Good for him, but guess it'll curb any chance we had of getting Bunney to sign for them now...
Don't write off Crewe!
