1  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Redevelopment Closer Than Ever? on: March 16, 2018, 03:26:31 am
There is a small clique of anti-development on here, I don't know why but they seem to wish for their club to stagnate and die and find every argument they can find in their own heads. The same individuals who post the same points over and over again, "it wont work," it's too expensive," who pay's" "look at Darlington" we only get less than capacity ???etc, short sighted arguments ad infinitum.

Please do Tell KT he's wasting his time and effort, Sixfields in fine as it is. Also if rebuilding, expanding or any type of progress is pointless do tell all the other clubs such as Brentford, Plymouth, you can tell Rotherham on Satdee (who want to expand again) that they are also fools and are potentially wasting money. They will be relieved.

Maybe Rotherham will reconsider, see the error of their ways when they take a look again at the amazing and futuristic Sixfields which is obviously years ahead of any other clubs plans as it's perfect and caters for all the clubs future needs.

There are some very stupid developers out there.

so you want me to research numbers on a point that i wasnt even making but you are happy to let Beds' get away with 2414 x 26 =78k? Says it all really...

Nobody disagrees with the principle of what Beds' is saying. When he puts forward his pie in the sky costings about how it is achievable and yet cannot evidence anything and is incapable of a simple math equation, then people question him. Seems fair to me.

But you did make the point by arguing Beds' lets see yours. If you didn't want to have the conversation why did you call him out?

The point was wholly relative to the fact when we visit we shall take a similar amount of support to which they would expect in the Championship regularly if the cunts get there. Sadly Sixfields cannot reap the same rewards, that point seems fair to me and extremely valid.

There maybe a few bigger stadiums below us but most of the large stadia are way above us. Calculate why.
3  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Pish Tickets Easter Monday on: March 15, 2018, 06:55:57 am
yeah, might be over 100k. we can all make up numbers...

Beds is simply highlighting that Sixfields loses money by not being able to accommodate more away fans, you don't need to get your knickers in such a twist as he's absolutely right. Maybe that's why you are?

He also highlights that Pish do have ambition as they've clearly alluded to in the media recently and being able to accommodate 2500-3000 away fans in the Championship would help in the costs of competing in the division should you be there.

Only 4 or 5 teams in the Championship currently average away support that Sixfields could realistically hold. With several teams close to averaging 3000 regular away fans we would indeed be potentially missing out on significant sums. Why don't you look into the figure and post an amount so we can pull it apart?  All the fact's are there but you may have to pick a figure out of thin air because I doubt you could predict exactly how many corporate guests, how many beers, hot dogs or extra programmes may be sold to those extra supporters.

He's saying they are better set up for a level of success higher than ours. He's very sadly again correct.
4  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Redevelopment Closer Than Ever? on: March 12, 2018, 01:51:44 am
I would question the comparison for those of us that have played park football and perhaps coached some kids along the way with someone like JFH who has lived and breathed football since he was a kid. He's played to the very highest level and passed all the coaching badges, and they are a pretty tough.
It must be galling for him to hear butchers, bakers and candlestick makers that watch Match of the Day and go to games every week or so telling him he's tactically naive.

Absolutely spot on. The "experience" Terry alludes to I find a little odd. After 35 years of working on large scale commercial developments I wouldn't say my knowledge was in football, similarly to many supporters, their "experience" lies away from football. Neither would I admit to being involved with any planning decisions made within the County considering their propensity to make some of the most ridiculous and short sighted decisions. The examples are numerous. Sixfields included.

Exciting isn't it?

None of us step aboard the Northampton Town FC roller coaster for an easy ride. This is the end to our season....

Gather round boys... Shocked Shocked Shocked

We all know why it was a special day.  Wink

6  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Rallying Cry on: March 05, 2018, 15:10:23 pm
Spot on,

As fans we need to realise there will be no new manager , and no new players. We are in a relegation battle and need to back this team no matter what.

Sixfields needs to be a fortress not a.self fulfilling prophecy of doom!

Bang on.

Siege mentality from now on. As fans all you can do is create an intimidating atmosphere, do it. Just like the Rovers play off game, every game.

7  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Blackpool (A) 3rd March on: March 05, 2018, 15:03:24 pm
Think you are mixing up years here! Back around 85 time, a game up in Sc***horpe was off. Mounties coaches went to Forest v Blackburn in the FAC (won by Rovers)

That's it! Fucking hell that long ago. Remember being on a Mounties coach, I think going to Scunny and ending up frozen to death on the open terraces at Forest. Warmed up now.

Thanks for clearing it up.
8  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Blackpool (A) 3rd March on: March 03, 2018, 13:00:11 pm
Was it Boxing day ? I remember getting to Sc***horpe and a game being called off and we finished up going to Doncaster, I think they were playing Maidstone.

I might be wrong but I think we had more than two coaches. One went back, one went to Forest and the one you obviously chose the Doncaster bus?

Memory is not so great but do remember being given options on that day?
9  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Blackpool (A) 3rd March on: March 03, 2018, 06:46:07 am
Slightly on and off topic but anybody remember being on route to I think Scunthorpe around 1986/87, see it's that long ago I can't even remember who we were playing! The game got called off but when we were around Leicester, our bus decided to go see Forest v Blackburn (not sure again!) Most of us were in the away end and it started snowing pretty heavily around half time. FFF kin freezing, wish I hadn't have bothered now but wanted an extra ground.

See how little you can actually remember going to games! Anybody else at a freezing City Ground in the late 80's?
10  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: J F H on: March 01, 2018, 07:07:25 am
When you don’t go to any games at all and call those that do “brainless f***wits”  and spout what is and is not good for the team .....  you lose any credibility

I'm sure you've heard worse down the pub, take it in the context in which it's meant.

Your right, I cant get to many games anymore, I'm over 6000 miles away but when I did go home and away week in week out from 1981 through to 1998, I never sat motionless and analysed the game, in truth I was pretty much pissed, singing, messing with my mates etc. It's a social day out, in the Hotel End you would always move around meeting and chatting, at away games I often used to go in "home" ends, to get another perspective and of course to hear our mighty fans singing. Had a few moments of course, once at Feethams and also Twerton Park when my shite drunken west country accent let me down! Big Al's walk around the pitch at Molineux, I couldn't take my eyes off him just strolling around for 20 mins but he goes where he wants.

What I'm badly saying is, at the game, unless your a statto, your undivided attention is not always on the game, but watch on TV with expert analysis you sometimes get a better picture. I don't call anyone who goes to games, but I do feel JFH knows just a little more than some of the untried and untested managers who post on here and for once, just once the short term knee jerk brigade had some patience.

If some feel they've had enough, that's up to them, but they can come up with no realistic alternative. Sack JFH and spend shit loads of money paying him off, pay shit loads to get a tried and tested "stave off relegation" figure in, someone like Gary Johnson maybe? He works with players he didn't sign so blames that when he fucks up and we go down, more money. Or we believe that Jimmy could not sign exactly who he wants in a difficult January window, but if we don't panic, we could use all that money in the summer in a full transfer window allowing Jimmy to finish building a team.

This is of course if he can keep us up, that's the ****, I would prefer the latter.

Credibility? Here? It's a fucking forum! You could be Noel Cantwell's illegitimate daughter or an MP for all I know, why do you seek credibility on here?

I'll always post an opinion.
11  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: J F H on: February 28, 2018, 15:24:12 pm
FFS - it's like listening to Trump and his bigger button than rocket man

Are people so insecure about the validity of their comments that they have to play "I'm a better fan than the other guy" - particularly if their views differ.

I listen to people who haven't missed a game for years and (IMO) talk complete horse s***e & offer no meaningful contribution to a discussion, others who are occasional visitors are articulate, incisive and add to an intelligent debate even if their views differ.

There are individuals with their heads so far up their own backsides I'm surprised they ever actually watch what's on the pitch.

Agreed. As I mentioned, I've done my turn of duty going week in week out but now I cant, so I trust my sons view and what I see online. I'm sure a good scout and a video has been enough for a few managers to sign players before?

How many times have we argued in the pub after watching the same game?

Yes, to be clear, I reckon he would get the job at any club outside of the top two divisions so we are lucky to have him and he'll be desperate to pull it off here. I would love to hear a better suggestion than giving him time and our total support and encouragement to the players. .
12  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: J F H on: February 28, 2018, 13:13:34 pm
One of football's artists what a joke, have you watched any games since he took over.

I agree, seeing it with your own eyes is most important, but then we could all see it in a different perspective anyway! Seen over 500 games, now I live to far away but my son goes to most games home and away and I see the full game online.

Compared to the brains here, Jimmy is an artist, he'll see football in another perspective. The people who have taught him his profession, his mentors and the contacts he will have are simply too important to ignore and on a different level. He will see the game faster than any of our team and he's probably pushing too much into their smaller football brains.

The major question, as with all good tutors, is can he relay that information and inspire? The jury's obviously out, but he's smart enough and with experience he'll make it somewhere.

Time to be bloody patient for once you grumpy fuckers. Would you want Steve Evans?
13  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: J F H on: February 28, 2018, 09:02:36 am
Putting some of the various statistics banded about on here aside for just a moment, I think it's high time every supporter got behind Jimmy.

Judging by comments I think a few expected us to be chipping away at the play-offs after signing almost a new team but staying in the division is the only aim this season. Performances may have been disappointing thus far, but a new team is slowly emerging and the manager is learning all the time.

You have to understand JFH is one of footballs artists and he has the temperament to match, he is probably asking a little more than the team at his disposal can cope with right now but he needs to experiment now. He wants it to work more than anyone here and his annoyance is born out of frustration.

Some Sheffield fans called for Wilder to go after a slow start, many more Bristol called for Lee Johnsons head too. Changing managers may inject a short term boost but it's proved to make negligible difference in the long run.

Jimmy would walk into any vacancy out of the Championship, irrespective of what he achieves here. There are no more Wilders out there, no more miracle appointments and given time we may have the right man already in place.

For once you brainless fuckwits give him time, support and lots of love. If you want the performances to improve, shut the noisy ones up and chant his name, make him feel special again and he'll respond.

What's the dark web precious?

I think you may need a better defence when in court.

Never mind perving in the park, I'll give you Wakeley Gage, more gangly than odd though.
15  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Odd shaped players on: February 28, 2018, 00:05:40 am
I have to get some use out of the large boots, black mac, dark glasses and umbrella I have stored in my vestibule.

I think you find lots of uses for them on the Racecourse and the dark web.
16  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Oxford. on: February 25, 2018, 17:14:07 pm
JFH has a genius football brain and he's obviously annoyed at the neanderthals at the ground and then articulate here who can't see his vision. Similarly to building a Formula One car from scratch, it will perform in more fits than starts initially.

For once some patience should be reserved, Jimmy hasn't any depth of relegation fight experience, but he learns fast and those with experience don't always deliver. I think it's time for any true supporter to truly stand up and back him, give him confidence and he will deliver.

We're lucky to have him.

14. Doncaster    P34   Pts42
15. Oxford         P33   Pts41
16. Walsall        P32    Pts41
17. Blackpool     P33   Pts39
18. Real Dons    P33   Pts37
19. Cobblers      P34   Pts37
20. Fleetwood    P32   Pts36
21, Oldham       P33   Pts36
22. Fake Dons   P32   Pts30
23. Bury           P32   Pts26
24. Rochdale     P28   Pts25

It's going to be a very interesting run in. Could be a good division next season if you travel away, if Rochdale run out of steam and go down with Bury, Oldham and Fleetwood. Although it would be better for the club financially if the Fakes stay up, in the interests of football I'd like to send them down with 3 of the Northern teams.

If you replace them with  Luton, Wycombe, Notts County and Swindon or Cov maybe as and outside chance it makes for a few more localish games.

Birmingham is a great day out but Sunderland might add a few miles though...

18  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Oxford. on: February 19, 2018, 07:25:00 am
Take 3 points on Satdee and Oxford will have well and truly joined the party. Any 3 teams currently in the bottom ten to join Bury I think.
19  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Stats - Easier Games to come on: February 12, 2018, 12:56:24 pm
There are obviously a few here with no common sense whatsoever, there are also others who have more complicated social issues. If using the last ever bus trip I made with the Mounties in 1986 is anything to go by. Psychiatrists nightmare.

It would all be much better down the pub around a big table.
20  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Gratuitous swearing. on: February 12, 2018, 07:51:57 am
I know, how ridiculous that chant is.  We’d do well to get one ambulance out, let alone enough for all those away supporters. And even then they’d be taking them to hospital, not to wherever they live in the country.  The NHS isn’t a taxi service after all!  People should really think these football chants through a little...

At least 3 hour wait if you're lucky, the game will be well over by then, yes fucking ridiculous.
