Time to stand up and walk out...

Let KT, the council and all the other bastards before them fight over the land. They can flatten Shitfields and be gone with the whole embarrassment.

Get some jumpers for goal posts and start again Wimbledon style. At least all the people around would be genuine and probably have a smile on their face again.

Get a few leagues up the pyramid again and share Franklins. Fuck em all I say.

Bollocks to it all.

"Exiled, I think your memory is selective about the County Ground.  It was an awful dump and had only 3 sides.  Remember the Meccano Stand?  Much loved my ........  The final years at the CG were desperate with gates averaging around 2,000 and were dropping yera after year to the point where we were more likely than not to disappear as an EFL club."

Nothing selective Vintage, my memory serves me well, I was talking about the CG specifically before the Popplewell Report in the early eighties. No Meccano stand and when the seats were in use.
At that time the CG although 3 sided, in comparison to other grounds wasn't so bad. Many grounds were banks of terracing even some grass or cinder banks, do remember Gresty road at that time, or Springfield Park!

The CG as others mention was allowed to fall apart, in fact it wasn't so expensive to fix the issues with the main stand but Derek Banks decided to whip off the roof to try and push the matter with Brackmills.

My point is that by today's standard, Sixfields hinders the clubs progression just as much as the County Ground back in 1981.

We've gone nowhere.

EiS -I donít think many if any of the  argumentative sh!ts disagree - personally I was horrified at an initial plan of just 4500 (West stand the same as the old East one).

The reality is that Sixfields is poor stadium....

Agree, but I've never criticised KT!

I was simply pointing out that in 30 odd years the club has not progressed at all. Despite perfect opportunities to capitalise on surges of support, ie Wembley visits etc again the stadium has held us back as before. Some here argue we don't need anything better but the fact 96% of stadiums in the top 3 divisions are both greater in capacity and better equipped for sponsorship and matchday hospitality tells it all. We've just continued to have chancers, beggars and thieves as owners as that's all we'll get until something drastic happens and that all hinges with the stadium and land, not what team enters the park.

Before Bradford, the CG was a lot more entertaining to go and watch football than Sixfields has ever been. We've gone nowhere!

In all it's splendour....

I have to ask this. Did you voice your disdain publicly for Sixfields when we moved in back in 94' or did you as I would think all of us see it as an enormous step up from the County Ground?

No. Personally I was hugely disappointed watching Sixfields being built, I kept asking myself when the second tier was going on, then realised that's all we were getting, I hoped it was only a temporary stop gap, but sadly no.

I'll say this again, there are only 4 out of 68 (5.9%) stadiums in the leagues above us that are less well equipped, that tells the true story whatever the annoying argumentative shits on here post. Someone trying to defend the indefensible even posted improving the stadium might put the club at risk! Can you believe that? We've been skint and in court more times than most clubs, hardly a model of sufficiency to other clubs.

When I started going in '81 we were in the lower reaches of Division 4 with a dilapidated but much loved 17,500 capacity ground.

What has happened in 36 years?

I like to pop up every now and then for a bit of balance and honesty.

Here we go again.. I may have joked before about you being the Dalai Lama when you posted about having "found the secret to happiness," but you do keep up the claptrap. I hope your not spouting this to KT.

"The challenge today is to convince people of the value of truth, honesty, compassion and a concern for others"

There you go, be nice to Beds, now go balance your chakras.
8  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Redevelopment Closer Than Ever? on: July 30, 2018, 14:24:35 pm
Why are MK Dons back in League 2 if the stadium is key to success? Their stadium is 'fit and capable' of sustaining championship football but they are now all the way at the bottom again  Huh?

Yawn. Here we go again, broken record. Don't stop there your on a roll, throw Darlington in too, why not?

So why are the largest stadiums all above us in the pyramid? Come on smart arse.
9  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Redevelopment Closer Than Ever? on: July 10, 2018, 09:06:45 am
You have a point & I would agree certainly not long term or indeed successful investments

.....however I'm sure there are a group of MK fans right now posting anti Winkleman rhetoric - much along the lines of "all very well having a fantastic stadium and infrastructure, but if we don't invest on the pitch with good players or with a manager of any pedigree what's the point - the sooner Winkleman goes the better........"

Life's malcontents are, well life's malcontents ..........

Are you trying to justify us having a poor stadium again? Your obviously smart but you seem a little fixated on the stadium size, you often use Darlington as an example, frankly you have it arse about face.

MK are in the bottom division again and Darlington folded due to management, nothing to do with their stadiums. The fact is though whatever decisions the MK management make this season coming, their off field revenue will dwarf ours. The stadium has nothing and everything to do with success on the pitch as you have less chance of sustaining any success without greater revenue. You need both pieces of the jigsaw, MK have one although they have lost the other under the sofa, we have neither.

Both MK and Darlo are not examples to use, you should be using the fact the almost every club above us in the league pyramid, bar just a few, have larger and better equipped stadiums. The elephant in the room.

I'm a hip replacement specialist, unfortunately July is a very busy month so I doubt I shall get much time off.
12  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Football strip on: June 30, 2018, 13:42:57 pm
I wonder how many have been produced, surely it would be possible just to change the red to the wonderful claret in the badge?

The few that have already been made with red can all be given to youth teams around the county, or possibly jumble sales.

My mate has a Torquay away shirt also Nike, looks good so it can be done. He even wears it more than his Manure shirt now. Did Torquay fuck all good last season though. Maybe Nike are the problem?
13  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Redevelopment Closer Than Ever? on: June 18, 2018, 11:53:02 am
I love all the comparison clap trap, the simple fact of the matter is all of the grounds ABOVE us in the pyramid bar just a few, all have larger capacities and better matchday facilities. The few that don't have are planning for it. We are where we are.

What do the Sixfield apologists put that down to luck?

Be honest, Sixfields is division four nothing more. Having our own supporters content with such a piss poor stadium and not wishing for improvements is akin to wishing us lose. You should be fucking ashamed of yourselves defending the current stadium and not wishing for a larger, better equipped stadium actually able to entice further support and sponsorship.
14  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Redevelopment Closer Than Ever? on: June 16, 2018, 01:40:01 am
Genuine question... Do you have any examples of grounds that have this set up? I'm struggling to picture how it wont make our ground look more non league than it apparently does now

The only ground with terracing behind seating I have seen is Moss Rose, Macclesfield. Possibly the worst stand you could ever design. All other stands with mixed accommodation have seating above terracing which makes sense.

I admire Beds passion but thankfully his design ideas are total gash and wont happen.

Those young Lithuanian kids could become doctors just aswel as your friend in asia.. surely they have need for his osteopathic excellence themselves?
We have several hospital universities creating 1000s of brilliant doctors every year, its the manufacturer construction  and services industries we needed help for and thankfully those from eastern europe filled the gaps to allow our economy to survive.

You can pay for their education then just as my friend paid for his. Once they have fully qualified as doctors in Lithuania they're welcome. I've seen lots of your potential "doctors" and somehow I don't think they'll make it. Postcode entry into a country rather than on merit.

On the plus side you can build stadiums from thin air so building a new city every year to cope will be childs play.

Absolutely Mr Watch!

Ahem, a swift turnaround and back on topic...

It should be The Carlsberg or Barclaycard Stadium of Northampton, proudly visible from the M1. Holding 25,000 spectators with exceptional hospitality, corporate and entertainment facilities. Hosting a range of sports and events including first class Rugby Union, second class football, community projects, concerts and possibly an annual re-run of "It's a knockout" (The original hosts may have to be replaced) between Althorp House and any other royally connected household that wants to comically wear huge suits and fall over frequently. A true stadium to all be proud of.

Instead we have a piss poor effort named after womens troubles.

Welcome to Northampton...

Last time I was back in Blighty there seemed to be a chronic lack of hand car washes. I drove for at least ten minutes yet could only find a dozen or so, yet a close friend of mine here in Asia who is now a fully qualified Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine was refused a visa to enter the UK.

Seems perfectly reasonable to me to allow half a million street urchins from Lithuania or wherever unfettered access to the UK while keeping out the doctors. It's the economy stupid.

Euromillions ticket tonight then Iíll step in.

The very best of luck Zen. (my new bestest pal ever)

Uninspiring sponsors for a pathetic "stadium" (although that is stretching the term to it's absolute limit.)

About what you would expect, sell what you have for what you can get. Could easily have been the Duston village hall stadium if they had promised a tenner. If only they knew!
20  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: NTFC FOR SALE on: May 24, 2018, 15:16:06 pm
Warming up nicely isn't it!

At least we have some close season entertainment.

Can't we just swap with the cricket club? Always thought Sixfields would've been more suitable for cricket. Might have even got some one day
internationals being close to the M1.

Knock the fucking abortion down and get out the Qualcast.

Owzat.
